‘I wouldn’t be compatible with someone who wasn’t prepared to be friendly with my children. It did take Leon a little while to adjust to Oleana, but he was still a kid at the time. She’s always been good with him and Hop. I also wouldn’t be able to be with someone who disliked my Pokemon. And in general, I couldn’t be with somebody irresponsible, bigoted or cruel.’

💑 What went through your heads when Wyrm Crimes were committed?

‘It was terrifying,’ his mother says, with a frown. ‘We had no clue anything like that was going to happen. We were settling in to watch Leon on the telly and saw it live.’

‘We did think it was weird Shehroz wasn’t at the tournament,’ his father adds. ‘He never usually misses one, so we thought maybe he was poorly.’
