My personal thoughts on harry and albus' relationship
Harry is incredibly troubled. I'm sure the yearly run ins with death, childhood abuse, constant lose of stability, and lose of parental figures contributes to that. Not even brushing on the fact that he litterally died and resurrected. Or the fact that he never had a basic childhood.
So yeah, what I'm saying is harry holds alot of issues. Issues extremely overlooked. The man is a pot of mental illnesses and trauma. I truthfully feel like Canon harry makes sense. I don't belive he would be good with kids, infact I truly think he'd have a deep dislike towards them due to connected trauma and a disconnect with them.
Which branchs me onto my next topic; harry and al.
I belive that harry was always odd with his other children, and even nieces and nephews. He doesn't know how to act around or treat them. With his own, he doesn't wish to be to harsh, but also doesn't want to spoil them. He often times compairs their problems to his, as to show how theirs are miniscule and nothing to worry about. He can deal with lily and James to a point, James is easy. James likes his sports, he's a social butterfly who will absolutely blossom in any public setting. Lily's very similar but she's much more brash. She's opinionated, and sweet. She's so very like her mother. And harry can easily slip by with hugs and quick encouragements, because they're lily and James.
But with albus, it's different. Albus never liked social interaction, he's far to awkward and shy. Hes an easy kid to pick on, a small stick of a boy- He's just like harry. And it scares him. He's terrified of his own son. Everytime he looks at al its like looking at himself, and he despises it- because he despises himself. But harry dosen't know that, so he pines on the slytherin factors of al, factors harry himself has. He grasps onto the subject of scorpius as a way to justify his disdain.
And all the unreachable completely insane goals and morals harry has had repeatedly ingrained and melded into his skull, he pushs onto albus- albus whos so crazily like him, but in his minds eye is anything but. He doesn't even notice the complete obscurity of it, because he doesn't know he's even doing it.
And as albus gets older, with all the irony it entails, he becomes more and more like his father. The whole time fiasco thing? Definitely something his father HAS and would do. The not thinking untill consciences are right in front of him? Exactly something his father does. The disconnect from his own emotions and the others around him (ex: albus dragging scorpius along on his journey, ignoring his needs. Treatment of Rose, and more. Harrys ignorance with cho, and even Ron +Hermione etc). They're two peas in a pod. But they're both to lackluster in the commen sense department to even realize.
Albus tries so hard to be anything but his father, but honestly all its done is mold him futher INTO his father. They're exact copies on opposing sides of the coin. Angry, easily mislead and misguided, self loathing, and self centered.
In all truth I personally can easily invasion albus growing up with a hatred for his father, carrying it into his adulthood, without even realizing that he's behaving just like him.
(This is in no way hate to harry or albus. I love them both to be honest, but that doesn't mean I can't acknowledge that they aren't perfect)
