PATHETIC RAFE when you’re scared during a movie ʬʬ

pathetic introduction

rafe was already stock still the second you snuggled closer to him. then after a few seconds, he realized that’s probably not comfortable for you. you wanted something to relax on, not a hard body.

so he let out a breath, relaxing his limbs. he could watch a movie with you. he’s hung out with you way too often, knows too much about you to be getting nervous now.

so he wrapped an arm around you, pulling you in closer. he couldn’t see the smile that erupted on you, your head resting on his shoulder. rafe could be normal about this. he’s practiced, he’s put that practicing to the test. he’s gotten the hang of being normal around you.

your loose top drew rafe’s eyes to your bare arm as his fingers traced along the edge of the short sleeve. maybe if he focused on this, his brain wouldn’t wander. .

then something flashed on the screen and you were quick to hide your face in rafe’s chest. “i knew this was too scary for this time of night.” you whined.

well, your shirt was a pitiful distraction now. almost like he was imagining it, rafe could almost feel your lips pressed to his chest through his shirt. like you were using the movie as a distraction to do so. is that what you wanted? did you want to take in the scent of him? darling, all you had to do was ask.

this is one of the closest positions you two have been in. rafe quickly thought about what to say. or should he stay silent so you won’t move? does he want you to move?

and as more sinister noises erupted from the television, the closer you almost were to burying yourself into rafe’s lap. great. this was fine.

“hey, hey. you’re missing the movie.” rafe tried to get you to look up. because if you stayed this way a little longer, rafe felt he would have no choice but to hold onto you and refuse to let go. and he bet you would like that. maybe you wanted him to grab on.

rafe doesn’t think he’s ever let a girl get this close to him. has never wanted any other girl. but with you snuggled against him, unaware what the innocent move is doing to him, he figures he likes it. likes how you turned to him for safety. too bad you’re only so safe with him.

“right.” you sighed out. peeking your head up to watch the screen, you saw it wasn’t so bad anymore. you scrunched your nose, turning to rafe. “was that embarrassing?”

rafe took a second to come back down from his thoughts. he shook his head when he processed your question. “no. i didn’t mind. you’re cute when you’re scared.”

a smile teased at the corner of your lips as you fell back into position at rafe’s side. hopefully you would look adorable if you ever heard rafe’s thoughts.
