Important Announcement
I've been getting questions about auditions/callbacks and I think it's time that we need to address what's been going on behind the scenes.
We received ONE male audition which mean that we are having to create an entire new premise for the musical. All of our main characters were male, but since we just don't have that population trying out- we are rewriting the show to be female-centric.
Since we do not know which characters are going to be involved, it's very hard to have callbacks. For now, the musical is still on, but we are regrouping and working on it. So please be patient and know that you haven't been forgotten.
I know that the holiday season is almost upon us and things will get busy.
So let's extend the audition deadline to January 1, 2015 and go from there.
xoxo

Hello! I also only just found this project and would like to audition, so I really hope it's okay if my submission comes kind of late. I will try to make something before december 1st ends here, but might be late in the day. I hope you're not too picky about when you receive it. Great initiative, looking forward to this regardless!!
Definitely not picky. We know that we're opening this up worldwide so we won't be looking at all of our auditions until the 2nd-3rd.

Hi Emily! Thanks for being so accepting. I have a PC so I don't have Garageband! Unless it's downloadable for PCs too? Thanks again! (And yes I know, lots of rain and miserable weather, good thing I love it!) x
I think you can use audacity to record on a PC, just make sure to convert it to a MP3 before sending it (or my computer will freak out lol).

Hi! I've only JUST found out about this amazing project! But I really want to audition! I live in London (I'm from Seattle though so don't worry about accents) so I'm a bit ahead of you all, and I'm busy tomorrow but I will try my hardest to get my audition through ASAP. Do you recommend a recording system to use? Please and thank you! X
No problem! Thanks for letting me know that your audition might be a little late :) We're most likely extending the deadline anyway...
I personally use a Blue Snowball and Garageband to do all of my recording, but you don't have to be as fancy as that. As long as you have a microphone that picks up your voice clearly (without a ton of background noise) and a program that can record and create MP3s you're golden.

(Also, I just had to point out that you moved from somewhere that's rainy to somewhere that's rainy. I hope you have good goulashes).

@darkarayn said: I’ve asked this twice now, but how do i submit my audition?
I answered a couple of asks a few minutes ago with the email. If you look on the Auditions page and then your specific team member page, you should be able to see all of the details about auditioning. If you still have questions, please let me know.

I'd love to take part, but unfortunately all I have is the microphone built into my laptop, and don't have much experience with it. Besides, my voice isn't the best anyways... Good luck though ^.^
If you feel up for it, we would love for you to join. There are no microphone requirements other than good sound qualitiy. Some laptops can get good enough sound :)
If you’re not going to audititon we would still love your support  in promotion :D Let people know that we’re here and that we’re working towards the goal!

Hi! I really really need to know what email I am sending auditions too or. Sorry if i am just completely oblivious, but in can't find it anywhere.,
That's all good! I may not be on the page you're looking at. We've tried to work out all the bugs, but there's just no way to avoid all of them.
The email is [email protected]

If I put in my audition right now is it still good? It will be very make shift but I hear you're in need of singers.
Yes it's still good. It's the last "day" which means that they'll really be open for another 24 hours-ish (because of time zones.) So basically you should have your audition in before you go to bed on Monday night, no matter where you live.
Also this isn't high school. I promise not to take 10 points off if it's a little late. haha

Do you prefer audition songs to be sung a'cappella or with accompaniment?
Either one :) Whatever you feel comfortable with. Make sure that we can still hear your voice, though.

This sounds awesome! Are you only seeking singers? I am a guy interested in auditioning for the voice acting part, but I can't carry any tune to save my life. ;.;
We are in desperate need for singers, but we are also looking for voice actors.

How much of a committment would this be? Like, time consumption, etc.
Hello! Great Question :) We ask "how much time are you able to commit?" because we want people to be aware that we are serious about this project and want applicants to be serious as well. That being said, we do still understand that it's a volunteer position so we know not to expect everyone to be able to commit to something crazy.
How much time it will take depends on what your job is. For example- my job is a huge time commitment. I've got to plan, communicate and organize a ton of stuff. But if someone is given the part of a minor speaking character the time commitment will be minimal.
We will have set "due dates" for everything so you can choose when to put in your time with recording. Don't have time during the week? That's fine- we'll always make sure that there is at least one week and a weekend between an assignment and a due date to accommodate people's busy lives.
There are going to be multiple acts. We are working on act 1 right now. As soon as that is finished we will start recording it as act 2 is being written. As soon as that act is finished we will record it. So you can see that jobs are kind of cyclical. There will be some weeks when our writers have off because we are in the final process of editing. There will be times when our chorus is done recording the songs for an act and have off the rest of the time until the next act is completed.
We don't know how long the entire project will take, but we are hoping to create the acts quickly and get them recorded. We'll release the podcasts in segments, so whenever act 1 is completed it will be released.
tldr: It's really not as big of a deal as you think it is. If you have time to be on tumblr, you have time to record a few lines and sing a song or two every couple of months.

Rise of the Guardians Musical Update: Auditions
Wow! What amazing turnout overnight! I was extremely happy to receive 4 new auditions in the last few hours! Thanks to all who have and spread the word by reblogging and telling your friends. We are still in desperate need of more voice actors and singers to fill these roles.
We have yet to have a male audition and are now challenging the testosterone-tumblr users to step up your game. Us girls are rocking this audition thing so far, but you're not pulling your weight!
So warm up those voices, turn on those mics and get those warbly tunes recorded: We have a show to do!

Hi there :) This project is looking really exciting and I can't wait to see the end product! I was just wondering, for Voice Acting/Musical Talent audition pieces, should applicants be singing/talking in an American accent if we are not already American? I'm Australian, for example, and I generally have an Australian accent. Apologies if this question has already been answered. x
Don’t apologize :) We haven’t answered that question and it’s a GREAT one to ask.
We are trying to match the feel of RotG so if you can do an American accent that would be great.I don’t think any of the female parts have accents, except perhaps Seraphina.
As for the singing bit: a lot of times accents can’t really be heard when you sing, so you’ll probably be fine there. So if you don’t feel comfortable speaking with an American accent- try a singing audition!
My advice is to just go for it. We definitely need everyone we can get and if that means that Toothiana suddenly starts speaking with an Australian accent, then so be it :)
If you’re a guy reading this:
Male Characters with accents are Pitch (british alien), North (Russian wizard-pirate) and Bunny (Older than Balls Australian alien). If you can do any of those accents it would be greatly appreciated.
xoxo,
Emily

Hey. I can song alto and soprano. I can do two different people. Tooth or baby tooth and cupcake. So just stick me with something and I'll so it. Also I can sing tenor. But since I'm female my voice is feminine
We are definitely looking for flexible people, but unfortunately there will be no “sticking”. We’re going to need you to audition, just like everyone else. All the audition details can be found here.
If you’ve got any more questions, please don’t hesitate to ask :) Thanks for supporting us! We can’t wait to hear your audition.
xoxo
