You know what would be really cool to delve into the Lost Colonies? Color symbolism, especially in the lens of Cybertronian biology.

Shoot, what if they had different approaches to color theory!?

We already talk about how Cybertronians could be extremely exact with pigments and hues (remember messing with paint ms?), but I have yet to see any discussion on how the Lost Colonies utilize color.

Like, humans would see Windblade and Starscream as red, but other Cybertronians would immediately clock the difference: warm red versus cool red. Or, Camien Cityspeakers using a very particular red to paint Caminus' loops on their faces.

Color psychology and symbolism have to be really wild between each of the distinct colonies, especially since some were far better off with resources and/or trade with neighbors. Eukarians may stand out further with aposematism and mimicry from wild animals in a variety of biomes. Did they also pick up different color visions among themselves, especially within the distinctive tribes?

People think dogs are red-green colorblind, but that's a misconception. Dogs have dichromatic vision (two cones cells in the eyes) , so they have a limited color perception (blue-yellow) compared to humans' trichromancy (three cones cells in the eyes). What is standard in dogs would be considered a deficiency among humans. Going further, most mammals have dichromatic vision, so the bright orange-reds of predators and scavengers blend really well with green-brown foliage (ex: the tiger in the rainforest).

Then, there is monochromatic vision, which is common among marine and nocturnal mammals!

Semi-going back, it would be really fascinating to explore art among the Eukarian tribes. The blend and range of colors, textures, and patterns within textiles, furnishings, architecture, culinary, glass, sculpture, metal works, cosmetics, cermanics, and so many more mediums. The lack of photoreceptors doesn't destroy nor diminish the exploration of artistic pursuit and self-expression.

DAMN OKAY STORYTIME

So I decided to draw the shutdown scene and I was like okaaaay I need some more-or-less realistically looking code. Naturally I went to look for references and realised I can’t use any of them because I don’t understand anything.

Then. Instead of just. You know. Drawing some vaguely similar abstract lines and calling them code. I went to my friend who knows how to code and asked him for literally juuuust a bunch of cool looking lines. But he got excited and summoned another code-man and together they wrote this freaking fanfic of a code

I. Then. Proceeded to have a lovely thirty minutes of my friend explaining every part of this beautiful monstrosity to me so I could properly understand what is going on in this thing. Which was. My brain was TRYING hahah.

Anyway. I know that colors on those words aren’t realistic. I know. I changed them specifically to help other people understand wtf is going on without getting the same 30min education. All the real cool programmers feel free to laugh at me lol
