I came to the kink community freshly 18, wholly inexperienced. i’d done my research, and was so sure i knew what to anticipate. i expected to be targeted by predatory doms and opportunists for my womanhood; my submissiveness; my inexperience; my age. i was utterly unprepared for what would become my reality - that the overwhelming volume of predatory “kinksters” i encountered would target me because of my brownness and my religion. to them, i was only desirable because they thought they could twist my naivety into self-hatred and internalized (and even externalized) racism. they nearly succeeded.

they were wrong. my brownness is beautiful. my religion is beautiful. my arab identity shapes so much of who i am and what i do. i am so glad that i was born brown. i am proud of my culture, of my skin, of my strong features and of my body that has been passed down from ancestor to ancestor to me. i love myself, and no idiot behind a keyboard will take that away from me.

i was lucky to find fellow poc kinksters (esp other woc kinksters) when i did; poc who love themselves and each other; who hold each other accountable and boost each other up; who practice/encourage self love as a radical act. i love this community with all my heart - it deserves to be celebrated. we deserve to be celebrated.
