Vegan Film Festival
"Film categories include Best Overall Film, Animal Advocacy, Lifestyle, Environmental Protection, Health and Nutrition, and Public Service Announcement."
I find this incredibly interesting. As someone who isn't a vegan, I would never correlate film to veganism. However, I think it's beautiful that someone has seen the importance of showcasing different aspects of the practice. It definitely inspires me.

Hollywood Has its Work Cut Out
"A recent study by the Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film at San Diego State University suggests there are only a handful of women behind the camera. It found just 6% of cinematographers were female in 2021, up from 4% in 1998."
It is very disappointing to see that Hollywood continues to lack the proper inclusion of women in film. There is a very simple solution that Hollywood doesn't seem to understand.

BFI London Film Festival attendance
"In-person attendance figures for the 2022 edition of BFI London Film Festival were 189,200 – a return to pre-pandemic levels that is welcome news for the event after two years of hybrid editions. The festival also brought in 101,900 online attendees, for a total attendance figure of 291,100."
I am excited to see that the attendance rates of the BFI London Film Festival have increased by such a great amount. I hope to see all festivals restored to their pre-pandemic glory by the time I am submitting my own films to festivals.

Filmhouse Faced Major Risks
"These risks included a reduction in public funding and inadequate building and facilities, with the Filmhouse building described as not adequate for the long-term financial health of the organization."
I am surprised to see that Filmhouse faced issues including financial health, even prior to the devastating global pandemic. Seeing a film festival of such popularity with these issues makes me consider my own future of potentially starting a festival, along with whether or not other festivals have these types of underlying problems.

Screen Scotland Purchases the rights to Edinburgh International Film Festival
"Screen Scotland has purchased the Edinburgh International Film Festival’s IP (intellectual property) from CMI’s administrators, FRP Advisory, including domain name and brand assets, to be provided as appropriate to a future operator of the festival."
I am very excited to witness what this will mean for the Edinburgh International Film Festival following the trading cease. Being an amateur Film Festival researcher, this is the first case like this I have come across and I am eager to discover what it entails.

Women Filmmakers
"This year's festival has wrapped up and many of the films celebrated women filmmakers."
It is very exciting to see female filmmakers be represented so much in a major film festival like this. It brings hope for my future as a filmmaker. All film festivals need a wide selection of works from female creators.

Zero Censorship
"A glitzy international film festival in Saudi Arabia has laid out the red carpet for a host of famed actors and directors, promising a “zero-censorship” event that will feature LGBTQ+ themes despite being held in a country where homosexuality is criminalized."
I find it interesting that it is called a "reputation laundering tool." Why can't doing something inclusive be viewed as "the way it should be?" I applaud the festival for its bravery.

Edinburgh Film Festival and Cinemas Cease Trading
"The Edinburgh International Film Festival, the Edinburgh Filmhouse and the Belmont cinema in Aberdeen have all stopped trading with immediate effect."
I am surprised that the pandemic audience rates didn't decrease even more than they had. I am not shocked that this has happened.

13-Year-Old Boy Wins Film Award
"Tom Cross was named best young actor at the Independent Shorts Awards in Los Angeles."
I am fascinated to see such young talent be offered this award. It is very inspiring to see someone so young excel in film this way.

New Film Festival Opened in Autumn
"There are many films with shots in Chiswick, with many people in the entertainment industry from there. With the inspiration of the Chiswick Book Festival, a Chiswick in Film Festival was born. "
This festival is dedicated to the west London district. It is interesting to see such specific genres celebrated in a film festival. It inspires me to consider a film festival dedicated to my own hometown, despite its extreme lack of ever appearing in film.
