Group of five standing men
by Michael Wolgemut
-
This drawing has been attributed to Albrecht Dürer's teacher, with reservations. It probably represents a group at the foot of the Cross. Attention has been called to the relationships between this drawing and a group of drawings on reddish paper (Library of the University of Erlangen) that were not executed by Wolgemut but which come from the circle around his workshop. Nevertheless, the drawing may be considered to be by the master, thanks to studies on Wolgemut's work, particularly those concerned with the separation of his work from that of his stepson, Wilhelm Pleydenwurff (1458-1494)

Study for a Triptych
by the Master of the Stötteritz Altar
-
The anonymous draftsman established the tripartite composition in a grandly conceived sketch. On the left, Christ praying on the Mount of Olives; center, the Crucifixion; on the right, the Resurrection. The lettering on the garments indicates the colors which the artist intended to give them. This drawing, formerly considered to be a work by Schongauer, has been identified as a project for the altarpiece of the church of Stötteritz, near Dresden. The composition of the three panels was further elaborated in the course of their execution. The artist, nonetheless, held exactly to his original plan where the colors were concerned. The style of the painting points to a master who was probably active in Nuremberg around 1480 and a follower of Hans Pleydenwurff (d. 1472).
The altarpiece existed until World War II, but its fate since then is unknown.
