Can I be a beta reader if I'm under 18

unfortunately, no! the r/s big bang is an 18+ fest, which means all members of the fest are required to be over 18 to participate, including beta readers. this rule protects you, the other fest participants, and us as the mods. please refer to the age restriction section of our rules for more info!

if you're still interested in signing up for a future r/s big bang, you can join us when you've turned 18. we'd love to have you!

oops, that was an omission in our rules! thanks for pointing it out, they are now updated! :)

The fic must be new and previously unpublished to be eligible for the Big Bang. We hope that part of the process of being in the Bang is the fun of writing with a community, of sharing ideas, and of brainstorming together! In fact the community is most fun and most helpful if everyone is working together, imo. Most fests exist to motivate people over the finish line for a new fic— we want you to get both a new fic AND some art out of this process.

Does the Wolfstar fic have to be complete at the time of submission?

hi there! yes, per the general expectations sections of our rules page, all works must be complete at the time of posting! a complete first draft must be submitted by july 30 for writers to be paired with an artist.

also from our rules page, here are our author expectations:

Author Expectations: You will submit one complete fic of no fewer than 20k and no greater than 150k words. We do not allow WIPs. All works must be posted in their entirety; no staggered updates. Unfortunately, due to the nature of this fest, each writer may only submit one work. You may co-write if you would like, but you and your co-writer cannot then also sign up for solo works. Once you receive your artwork, you are not allowed to make or request changes to the piece. To participate, you must have created at least one fic (in any fandom) prior to signing up, which meets the following requirements: at least 20k, complete, and publicly posted.

The 2024 Remus/Sirius Big Bang Will Begin March 1st!

The vibes were good enough to do it all over again: we are so excited to announce the 2024 Remus/Sirius Big Bang! 

The R/S Big Bang aims to connect writers and artists in order to produce illustrated fanfiction for the Remus/Sirius pairing. We hope to encourage a spirit of collaboration that gives writers and artists the space and support they need to create truly fantastic fanworks. 

Fandom revolves around its community. We aim to run the kind of fest where all members of our Remus/Sirius community feel welcome. All tropes, genres, headcanons, heights, and dynamics are encouraged here. We hope our fest participants walk away from this experience with a full reading list and new fandom friends.

We look forward to seeing what everyone comes up with this year!

Fest Overview (below)

This is a Remus/Sirius Big Bang. All fic submissions must focus on this pairing. Adaptations are welcome, but crossovers are not. Any AUs or OCs are acceptable. All fics must be standalone and not prequels/sequels to any existing works.

Age Restrictions: As there are no rating restrictions on this fest, you must be 18 years or older to participate. We want authors and artists to have a safe space to create and communicate. We will make you confirm your age on your sign-up form. If you misrepresent your age to us, you will be banned from this and all further R/S Big Bang fests.

Author Expectations: You will submit one fic of no fewer than 20k and no greater than 150k words. Unfortunately, due to the nature of this fest, each writer may only submit one work. You may co-write if you would like, but you and your co-writer cannot then also sign up for solo works. We do require that authors have created at least one fic (in any fandom) prior to signing up, which meets the following requirements: at least 20k, complete, and publicly posted.

Artist Expectations: You will submit one piece of original art and one banner per fic that you claim. You are welcome to submit more art for your fic pairings if you so choose. Artists may claim 1-3 fics during open claiming, but may sign up to pinch hit later on if your works are complete.

We had so much fun FINALLY getting to talk about a published R/S Big Bang fic. Hopefully we'll get to talk to more of our wonderful authors and artists in future episodes — until then, keep on bangin'!

do you think a big bang is possible to be run by only one mod? or do you think a large part of the r/s big bang's success was that there were multiple mods working together?

hi there! thank you for your question :) i think i can speak for all the mods when i say that one of the best parts of the fest for us was getting the chance to work together as a team on the whole thing. a big bang is a MASSIVE undertaking -- the fest took up our entire year, and will continue to do so as long as we keep running it! it's unrealistic to expect one person to be available 24/7 for a whole year, so it's helpful to have a couple of people, ideally across some different timezones as well.

there were aspects of the fest (wrangling signups, artist pairing, beta pairing, running a discord with so many people in it, etc) that took hours and hours of work on the parts of multiple mods. that's a lot for just one person, especially if you have a full-time job or are in school, which applies to all four of us! also, different people have different strengths, so it's nice to be able to split the responsibilities along those lines as well.

so, could you run a big bang with just one person? maybe! but it would likely be very stressful, even if it's for a smaller fandom than remus/sirius. and you'd miss out on my favorite part, the mod relationships you make along the way! what was it mary kate and ashley said? the best part is getting there?

being a mod for the r/s big bang was one of the highlights of my 2023, and if anyone has further questions about it, you're always welcome to DM me @maybebabyplease!!!
