Oops I accidentally did a little modern Aphrodite and Ares. You just know Ares would be one of those COD jock dudebros with the man bun. Athena just plays with him to prove she’s better at it. As for Aphrodite, this is my idea of her without that half-naked pin up Victoria’s Secret male gaze thing she usually has going on. Just modern, comfy (stylish???) clothes.

Introducing...Doctor Decay!

This is the character of my new upcoming webcomic! 

You may remember Tavas Paon from my prior webcomic, Paon et Poulet, as being a little bit similar in appearance and demeanor. Like Tavas, Doctor Decay is also a villain who aspires to take over the world and just cause general mayhem. Also like Tavas, he is terrible at it and goofs up all the time.

A couple key points about Doctor Decay are listed on the drawing itself:

ineffectual

arrogant

genius

mad scientist/dentist

obsessed with personal hygiene

fears: germs

likes: toothpaste

Obviously, Doctor Decay isn’t his real name and he uses a super villain alias. His real name, as you can see, is Ezekiel Dressler. 

Note: He absolutely hates being called Zeke because of childhood bullying, in which he was often called Reeky Zeke, with the running joke throughout his youth being that he is gross or smells bad. This wasn’t actually true and was just an instance of children being the cruel little monsters they always are, but this did attribute to his obsession with personal hygiene and cleanliness. He also was often called Geeky Zeke, which is fairly self-explanatory. He also was annoyed by this nickname, feeling as though it was demeaning to his true intellect. The fact that he actually is a big geek is just a coincidence.

Why is he purple?

The answer to this is actually really simple and complicated at the same time. He is, to put it simply, a zombie. Not the mindless “brains” type of zombie you’d see in Dawn of the Dead or something. More like he’s still alive even though his heart and blood have stopped, thus creating a lack of oxygenated blood in his body. If you’ve ever seen someone who can’t breathe or is restricted, they typically turn a bluish purple shade. Thus, that’s the same thing going on here.

Wait, he’s a zombie? How?

In essence, yes. Again, it’s a bit more complicated than it might be for The Walking Dead or something. Basically, this is a result of that “mad scientist” thing. I haven’t worked out the details entirely yet, but he caused it himself. 

Being a zombie is pretty tough for him, all things considered. Especially because he’s so obsessed with personal hygiene and even more specifically, smelling good. That’s kind of hard to do when you’re literally decaying. That’s also the reason for his villain name. It also is a tie in to his job as a dentist, as dentists often deal with stuff like tooth decay.

Something about these characters really touched my heart. They're strong characters. I might have to make a book about them because letting them collect dust would be a crime. Also, they have theme songs! I'll explain about them more as I give them their own drawings.
