idk people can get it and just not like it :/ saying this as someone who similar anger issues and emotional turmoil as satan and also as someone who’s done way more research than you think on the guy

i cope in similar ways and am also in need of an esa. but i still dont like the direction theyve taken satan and how much they lean into the cat thing for easy content. is it any wonder than the fans think all he is is cats when the devs feed into that idea so much?

there were many ways that they couldve written satan throughout the course of the game, and similarly many other good and realistic ways they couldve written his coping mechanisms re: his anger and self-loathing. it is just unfortunate that i don’t enjoy the way the devs have written him but people arent idiots for expecting and hoping for something else.

or idk. maybe we are. idk what tf i expected from a gacha otome game’s writing.

It’s not hard to imagine how it keeps him up at night sometimes, that there’s a very real, very plausible fear that his Wrath can and will hurt or even kill MC… and to have it almost come true because of the masks’ curse? Awful.

I often feel bad for him because his sin is so outwardly destructive and blinding that he really has to keep it under wraps as much as he possibly can... Which is why I hate it when people are like ‘none of the brothers try to control their sin’ (I won’t mention where I see it the most but iykyk) because it’s not true, Satan could be much much worse if he let himself go. His anger gets played for laughs but I highly doubt that that’s the extent of it—remember, he was born from Lucifer’s wrath, and one of the times we’ve seen Lucifer really lose his shit had him almost kill MC, a child angel, and his own brother once. The same brother he was trying to protect in the first place.

Imagine that, except raised a hundred fold due to losing a war, being betrayed by so many of his former brothers and sisters, and losing the sister he fought so hard to save—that’s the anger that Satan was born from, and he knows it and has had to fight it all his existence.

There’s a headcanon I have that the only reason why he’s willing to be in a relationship with MC is because they have a pact with him—that way they could stop him if he ever flew into a rage with them around, especially when it reaches a point where it’s blinding and he can’t control himself. I don’t think he fully trusts himself around them, but trusts them and their sensibilities instead. It would have to be something they discuss very early on—along with other precautions about his anger and what to do about it—because Satan wouldn’t be able to live with himself if the sole being in all three realms who dared to love him, a monster born of rage and hatred, got hurt because of the very thing he has the most and also the least control over.

It’s such a gamble for him to love and let himself be loved, I think, and it’s something he’s keenly aware of. He’s just good at hiding it.
