Another Late Pick Your Poison: Day 2- Noel. Prompt: Driving. HEADCANONS!
Noel's mother tried teaching him to drive earlier than he was allowed. She brought him to a cemetery to practice because he "couldn't kill anyone there." It was the first time Noel witnessed dark humor from his mother and it became a fond memory... and a frequent dinner story when they have guests.
^ He ended up hitting a tree when he was there and dented the bumper. That was the end of the driving lesson for a few years.
When Noel actually took his drivers test, he failed the first time because he had a death grip on the wheel and it made it hard to steer. Jerky driving did not make for a passing grade.
The second time was better, but he almost ran a stop sign because he accidentally started daydreaming. Keyword: almost. He ended up passing.
Noel hates his drivers license picture. He tried really hard to look good.
On the contrary, Mischa looks great in his.
When Noel drives solo, he plays old music that sounds like it came from a phonograph because if he gets into a car accident and dies, it will paint the perfect scene when the radio inevitably keeps playing.
When he's with friends, whoever's in the passenger seat gets the radio... BUT Noel still has veto power. When Ocean gets shotgun, he veto's every song she likes unless someone else in the car likes it too.

A VERY Late Pick Your Poison: Day 1- Ocean. Prompt: Karaoke/Drag Night. STORY ANALYSIS.
Alright, so this event was at the very beginning of September... and we're now in October. Whoops. Still, I wanted to do some things for it since I helped out a tiny bit and @icepoptroll is awesome for hosting it.
Initially, I had planned to write a mix of drabbles and one-shots, with the first one-shot being Ocean's; but life very much happened... so instead of one-shots, I will throw the mini story maps or headcanons in their stead:
This one initially had the title 'Muck Around and Find Out'; where Noel bet Ocean that she couldn't pull off a drag look... and Ocean very much doesn't like to be proven wrong. It leaned very heavily on the Drag Night aspect of the prompt before I scrapped that idea entirely.
I chose to lean heavier into the Karaoke aspect after choosing the song 'The Tornado' by Owl City for Ocean. Set in a modern day, post-cyclone universe where the choir survived and went separate ways. At the start of this, they were to meet up at someone's house (probably Constance's or Mischa's) for a karaoke night.
Ocean being Ocean (and likely the most mentally unhealed of them all) would have an unintentional, emotionally charged performance where she shows just how deeply the cyclone incident affected her. To be fair, The Tornado is also a very emotionally charged song.
It's perfect.
To Ocean,
The song itself would represent her life on the mend, and the healing process from the injuries from the accident.
Not having the greatest home life and being an initially self-centered character, there wasn't likely much thought during the crash except "Wait, I'm not done yet!"
But Ocean gets the most obvious character development of the group, which changes the rhetoric to "Wait... but my friends!"
For her, The Tornado would be such a huge representation of what she'd been through (The fast tempo key change being the cyclone accident).
"And this was my prayer. Save me from this terrible nightmare" I could see being representative of the thought process for WTWN, with the next immediate line "That was when I saw my family with my eyes shut real tight-" being the wakeup call Constance gave with her punch.
This one-shot likely would have been split into three sections:
Ocean POV: The initial gathering + beginning of karaoke (including the beginning of The Tornado).
POV Switch Constance- watching her best friend fall apart all over again.
POV Switch Ocean- coming to terms, resolution and probably some good ole' feels.
I never got around to writing this one in full- and likely never will as I change gears to different projects, but I figured it was worth an analysis at the very least.

I'm kinda comic-ed out so for day 8 of @rtcpickyourpoison have that POV image of people staring at you judgmentally at a party but it's the cut characters. I did this because. . . . . no reason

my first and only entry is most certainly not going to make it for the actual pyp week. at the risk of disregarding the point of the event... i know the answer is probably "yes", but are entries so late they miss the week altogether still valid to tag this blog and such 😭😭
Yes, definitely!! Once it's ready please tag the event blog and I will reblog it!! Doesn't matter that you missed the week of.
I think next year I will go a little bit earlier. I think this year's was too close to the beginning of the school year and just an overall busy time of year and that caused some trouble for some participants. That being said I could hardly justify having rigid time frames and deadlines. Everyone feel free to just send your stuff in whenever, no rush

Summary: Karnak enjoys watching the drama of the people of Uranium. He enjoys getting to look into everyone's lives and stories. But he can't participate. He can't interfere. All he can do is watch someone's past and then their deaths. It gets to be torturous after a while.

i wanted to do something similar to this but with a different musical since ive seen people doing a lot of these, but am i allowed to use the phrase “pick your poison?” its perfectly fine if not but im struggling rn to think of another thing besides just like “[musical] week” so i decided to ask
"Pick your poison" is an old expression, one that I myself didn't coin. I call it that because of the premise that participants get to pick from a list of prompts and mix and match those prompts with characters that correspond to different days of the event. The poison part is kinda a silly nod at the fact that events like these can be pretty taxing, lol. If the premise of the event you want to do is similar in that there's some mixing and matching component that involves choosing prompts then I feel pick your poison would be an appropriate name, I mean, it was definitely appropriate for my event lol
So yeah go right ahead, have fun!!
Did. Did I just invent a new style of fandom event??????? 👀👀👀👀👀

December, 2010. Constance wakes up in the middle of the night to see first snow out of her window, and drags Ocean up to the roof.
Pick Your Poison Day 6!!!
For Constance's day, I chose 'First Snowfall', and I decided to do something childhood related! So, here is 12yo Constance and Ocean witnessing first snow together :)

Smh. What ever happened to respect for the dead?
Some of my inspiration: x x x
Image description under the cut.
Page 1:
Panel 1: Shown is a powered down Karnak, his eyes black, no longer glowing. One textbox says, "Ugh. That thing gives me the creeps, Chuck." Another says, "No doubt. Here, help me take it apart so we can get outta here."
Panel 2: Chuck, a large man with a scruffy beard, longish hair and a baseball cap stands in the foreground, carrying Karnak's robe, turban, and crystal ball. His coworker, a thinner man in a black T-shirt with spiky, short dark hair is down on his knees next to Karnak's box, a power drill and screwdriver on the floor next to him. He calls out, "Shit, there's a burnt up dead rat back here!" To which Chuck responds, "It's an abandoned warehouse, Phil. There's gonna be dead rats." They're surrounded by wooden crates and Karnak's internal metal frame is exposed.
Panel 3: Chuck's hand pulls up on a piece of Karnak's box, separating it from the whole. Phil says, "This thing is bad juju, man. REmember those kids who died on that roller coaster?" Chuck responds, "Yeah? What about 'em?"
Panel 4: Chuck and Phil carry the front arch of Karnak's box away. Phil explains, "The day they died, this guy told them, 'be sure to ride the Cyclone!'" Chuck responds, "So? That was just advertising." Phil says, "Maybe, but they say that back in the day this robot could tell you how you were gonna die." Chuck says, "Feh. You believe that urban legend shit?" Phil says, "It's true! I know a guy who could tell you." Chuck says, "Probably some teenage carnival worker pulling a prank."
Panel 5: A closeup on Karnak, still hanging lifelessly in what's left of his box. Phil continues, "If the robot had nothing to do with it, why are we getting rid of it?" Chuck answers, "Copyright. They don't want anyone taking the thing and making money off it." Phil replies, "What kinda weirdo would pay money for this thing?" Chuck answers, "Who the hell cares? Let's just get it in the truck."
Page 2:
Panel 1: A gray and red truck drives down the road. A textbox says, "I'm on the highway to hell"
Panels 2 and 3: Karnak is in the back of the truck. It's dark and he's motionless, thrown in haphazardly with everything that came off of him and the pieces of his box. A textbox between the panels says, "On the highway to hell"
Panel 4: A back view of the truck as it advances up the road. Two more textboxes say "Highway to hell" and "I'm on the highway to hell"
Page 3:
Panel 1: At the edge of a landfill, the truck is in the background, while in the foreground a sledgehammer comes down on Karnak's crystal ball, shattering it. A textbox says, "SMASH!!"
Panel 2: Chuck approaches Karnak, who is laying motionless face up on the ground. He's wielding a sledgehammer, ready to swing it down hard.
Panel 4: The hammer comes down on Karnak's chest, denting it deeply. A textbox says, "BOOM!!"
Page 4:
Panel 1: Chuck and Phil walk away from the scene, back towards their truck.
Panel 2: Karnak lays in the dirt resting against a fallen tree limb, dented, crushed, bent and filthy, some of his wiring exposed. Trash on the ground surrounds him. The whole scene is still and silent.

you are my favourite everything, been telling you that since 2015
Penny takes Ocean to karaoke with their friends, who seem to clock their relationship dynamic before they do.
Pick Your Poison Day 5!!!
A day late (technically two days late but shhhhh) I have day 5!! For this day, I went with Karaoke as the prompt, and this is technically a continuation sort of from my day 1, it's within the same AU soooo hehe :D
Adorable silly perfectdolls time!! Oh, almost forgot, it's also the first time I have ever written cut characters, and it's lovebugbite :D

Summary: After the accident, Constance is left unable to go out in the snow to play with her mom and baby brother. All she's even physically capable of is sitting and staring at the window. She can't make snow angels or snowmen or get into snowball fights anymore. But she is still capable of enjoying the snow from where she is.
