Shannon wrote a scene in book one where Sophie gets cultural whiplash from Marella just not understanding death and grief but I think what really shows how out of touch the elves are is that Alden laid eyes on a tiny Jolie clone and did the equivalent of "sending you two this meme because it reminds me of you 🥺" but with a whole-ass person

Keefe gets back to the Lost Cities, excited to tell everyone that he’s discovered gay. However, as he starts explaining his proposal to the council Bronte begins crying. We find out they sent all gay elves to the moon after Bronte and Fintan’s atomic breakup, though they couldn��t send Bronte because he was too important. They try to bring back the gay elves after all these years, but they refuse to come back. They’ve made the moon a utopia. A gay utopia. They’ve colonized the moon and made it gay.

there is a beautiful world In My Mind where sophie's eyes aren't strange because all elves have blue eyes, but because elves have eyes that can vary wildly in color across the whole spectrum and it's more common than not to have multiple hues swirling together in harmony . and sophie's eyes being brown catches people offguard because everyone else's eyes are so vibrant
