"Where are you? I thought you'd be back by now I'm bored and lonely," and pouting but she didn't need to say that part as it was plainly audible in the voice mail. "I have nothing left to clean and I've finished my book. Maybe I should go back to ballet, I could teach a night class. Just call me back before I got stir crazy."

You’re safe now. Those words echoed through her as she sagged against him with no more strength to hold herself up. “I wasn’t sure you’d find me. I thought I might.. I didn’t want to die not here,” she murmured against his shoulder. There was an awful mortal feeling to her, something reminiscent of the past the left behind. Of being someone else’s toy to break as they pleased and it might have sent her into a flurry of emotions if it it were for that persistent thought. Safe.

It left her questioning if Sage had run off to protect himself, or if he’d run off so Adam could rescue her and either way she felt an odd sense of gratitude for it. She wouldn’t have felt as safe as she did with Adam. It also stung her to be abandoned, something she didn’t feel as if she’d entirely forget ever. No matter their relationship, Sage would not protect her to the end. She only Adam wouldn’t punish himself too harshly. “I need to heal,” she said softly, fingers weakly gripping his shirt. “Need to feed.” 

     Fury ran through him for an instant, seeing the way she clung to him and such weak state she was in... In Adam’s eyes Sage had been a coward, leaving her behind to meet her fate. No hero seeking for help, but a mere craven guy running to safety. It didn’t matter if Sage did try to seek aid. 

   His hand stroked her hair in a reassuring way as he held her, taking locks of hair away from her face. ❛ You won’t die... I’m here. I’ll take you out of here. ❜ he whispered, rolling his sleeve up his arm and held his wrist to her lips. ❛ Go on, feed Lina. I’m sure he had enough blood for you to do so. ❜ the last sentence came under a grumble, just thinking about him made him get angry all over again. ❛ Feed... I’ll take you home. ❜

“Hmm, another benefit of eating the rich,” she jested before moving closer to him, sparing only a glance at their victim. “I would be entertained to know what else you’d like to watch, though I’m better off not knowing,” she asked, feeling rather confident and maybe even a bit elated at her own prowess, “And tell me, Sage. How did I measure up? Was I satisfactory?“

    ❛ Ah- ha. You get to keep the money and oooh nice watch that one. ❜ he deviated, squatting down to take the watch off the lifeless man’s wrist and try it on. It glinted with that expensive look under the moonlight, Sage inspected it and smirked. ❛ There’s plenty I like to watch and one day, perhaps, you’ll know some of them. ❜ The words slipped as a tease, mind ran places.    ❛ You did good, for a newbie. I thought you’d leave a bigger mess to be honest but... ❜ his lips pursed as his head nodded in approval. ❛ Satisfactory. Now, what shall we do with these bucks? Maybe a little clean up first. ❜

The tenderness of him took her as he moved his hand moved around her and she stood close with him. In a moment they were gliding around the floor and she with smiling once more. One hand in his, the other resting on his back. “It’s as much my own fault for not asking for what I needed from you. I didn’t expect you’d much like to give it. I don’t want there to be walls between us, Adam. I am stubborn than you are twice fold.” 

    ❛ I might seem too impassive, or immersed in my own mind but trust me, I can be a social creature... If I try hard enough. ❜ he joked, swaying to the music with her in his arms. Gentle smile on his lips also dances, letting itself to remain as long as the song echoes in the room. ❛ Believe it or not, I am a good dancer. Used to do it quite often back in my times. ❜

“He can’t find out,” he said softly, “He’ll keep you from me, Sage.” Knowing it to be so, knowing how made he would be. It would have been a difficult task not to be seduced by Sage’s words, to not becoming consumed by the lust she felt as her body pressed against his, her head tilting back as his took in her scent, a quiet sigh leaving her lips. It would have been difficult to resist, if she’d wanted to truly, but she didn’t and the closer they were the more she knew it with certainty. She tilted her head to press her lips close to his ear, her eyes shut. “I want you,” she whispered. She would willingly give herself over to him, to his control. Adam would hate her but at the moment she would gladly accept his ire. 

       ❛ Then this will be our secret, he’ll hear nothing from me but he better learn nothing from you either. ❜  A low growl escaped the vampire, inspiring long and deep her scent once more. Being the object of desire sure did a great job at luring him. One of his hand snaked around and up her back to keep her pressed against him, the bridge of his nose brushing the crook of her neck. Ah! the forbidden ones were the sweetest, despite him knowing that she was off limits, his hands itch with temptation, greedy to oblige as he told her the needs of his hands and his lips and his truer desires. ❛ Well then, where oh where on the apartment will I have you? ❜ he hums smirking ❛ His bed, perfect. Let’s go. ❜ Hand grasping hers he then walks towards the room, lips curled upwards.

At the kiss, she followed his lead, equally as hungry and desperate for him, equally as wanton. She moaned softly into the kiss, unable to help herself, the taste of him not soon to leave her. Her tongue trailing the roof of his mouth. How many times she’d thought of pushing the issue or was shot now before she had a chance to by his self-loathing she couldn’t count, but that bitterness quickly melted away.

She could have spent a lifetime kissing him, standing just in the one spot, 20 years could have passed and she wasn’t sure she’d have noticed. Only pulling her lips from his to simply allow the swell of emotions to cool, if only for his sake. “I am yours,” she whispered softly. “I have been yours.” 

His forehead rested against hers again, eyes closed listening to her whisper. Never would have he thought he’d feel something along the lines of love and desire again, not in this intensity for ages. He had tried relationships before only to come to the realization that the object of his attention would just slip away between his fingers, unable to grasp them on their last breath. And he would continue living.  This did not apply to Lina, immortal as him, the faint spark of hope lingered in his stare.

   Don’t tell me that, he thought of saying but no words came out of him. Instead, after another brief stare into her eyes, her lips... His mouth collided against her again, only parting to pick her up and carry with each leg of hers around his hips. Brushing lips curve sideways in the most teasing way he could muster, the parallel of words and payback for what started all of this.  ❛ Prove it. ❜

It was her own fault trusting that Sage, however unpredictable wouldn’t lead her in to more trouble than they could handle. Yet, her she was caged by some crazed lunatic, some angry sort with a vendetta against vampires, a hunter perhaps? All Lina had known is one minute they were feeding and the next the was a bullet tearing through her lung, not enough to kill her, no. But enough to hurt, to make her crumple to the floor. And Sage left her, to be taken or potentially killed. The fun of having company, while it seemed to mostly limit the chaos of the alter, had not instilled in him any values of loyalty.

Lina, dragged back to the creep’s lair, had to be shot at least twice more to keep her weakened until she was locked away. She was too weak to stand, dizzy with hunger from her blood lost. She was only marginally aware that Adam had come to rescue her, only mildly present through the struggle that resulted in the man’s death.

“Adam,” she near whimpered, clawing her way to the iron bars she was to weak to break free from. Her eyes welling with tears, grateful and bitter and pained.

    After waking up in the middle of the street with a blood-stained shirt and a bullet graze on his side Adam sensed something had gone awfully wrong. Lina was nowhere to be seen, an indicator that he probably fled the scene and left her behind. Typical of Sage, living life without thinking about repercussions as long as he stayed alive, anyone could go lose themselves or die for all he knew. He had warned her, but Lina had chosen to trust him.         Adam had follow her scent to some hidden lair, growling and with heaving chest ablaze in fury for whatever the man had done. He took him by surprise, snapped his neck and dropped him aside. 

   ❛ Lina ❜ he muttered, rushing and pulling apart the bars to retrieve her, pulling her towards him to hold. Dark eyes scanned her form to identify the severity of her wounds.  ❛ You’re safe now. ❜

Unable to stay herself she pressed her body to his, her hands sliding up around his shoulders, one hand resting possessively on the back of his neck. Every inch of her so aware of him and this closeness. A sweet kind of torture for them both to be so intimate. Her pupils dilating at the contact as her desire made itself known to both parties in soft, but no less certain words.

“I want all of you,” she responded, wanting to ensure we was clear. “If you care for me like you say, than stop denying us what we both want, stop taking yourself from me.”

    ❛ It’s a line we won’t be able to step back from. ❜ Adam muttered, any remaining strength he had left to deny her was slipping right between his fingers. Betraying him as fingertips seemed to know the way around her waist, securing her in the spot. His eyes closed and a low growl erupted from deep beneath his throat, fighting the desire Lina continued to attract to the surface. 

     Fuck. He cursed in his mind letting his lips crash desperate and hungry against Lina’s. Kissing her like he hadn’t kissed in ages, which he might as well hadn’t... To late to pull back now, this was completely doomed to explode.

She knew it wasn’t fair to needle and prod at Adam, to wear down his walls with her incessant picking, always toeing every line he laid down. She didn’t like rules, but she did like Adam and this chemistry had been brewing for too long. She let out a little gasp as he pulled her in close. And it took everything in her not to press back against him.

“I want to,” she murmured, her lips brushing his and she felt desperate, in a way she hadn’t felt in since long before she turned. “Please,” she whispered softly, her heart pounding against her chest. “If you really care for me, prove it.”

     At the brush of her lips with his, he could feel his breath stop all of the sudden. Not as if he needed to inspire air anyway, it was a mere habit to feeling a bit more human that he did it ( apart from looking normal to the eyes around him ). Adam groaned, pressing his forehead against Lina’s.

     ❛ Haven’t I given you enough proofs? ❜ he retorted, narrowing eyes looking into hers but yet uncertain that he could remain this close without actually making a move. ❛ How else can I prove it? What do you want from me? ❜

     She had a way to make him lose his temper, to enter heated arguments that left them sour and angry. Growling under his breath and challenging remarks left in the tense air to boil. He was not accustomed to let his emotions be seen or shown, having lost plenty in the past had been enough to close him like an oyster. Lina entering his life was a plot twist he had not seen coming anytime soon, nor the way she would make him feel. Feeling something he quite didn’t want to. Adam was quick to pull her close and against him, grunting under his breath.

       ❛ You don’t want to go there Lina. ❜ In fact, it was him who didn’t want to cross that line but hell was she making this hard. ❛ Stop being so stubborn and let this be. ❜
