RWBJ: Shattered Legacies: Premise

RWBJ: Shattered Legacies is a reimagining of RWBY that is more character driven and with a major theme of familial legacy. While also trying to flesh out a lot of areas that weren't as fleshed out as many would like in the main series of RWBY.

I will mostly be expanding on the foundation of RWBY, but there are some areas I'll be changing heavily or maybe removing entirely. I'm not really treating this like a "fix it" fic or "RWBY if it was good", but I'm not above admitting RWBY has it's flaws as much as I love the series.

The first major change being of course, the main teams.

Jaune will be taking Yang's spot on the main team, while Yang will be taking Jaune's spot and leading the B team. With Jaune being moved up to main character, while Yang is downgraded to major character/deuteragonist.

The second major change is that the Vytal Tournament/Festival will be taking place in RWBJ's 2nd year at Beacon. Which I think you can see where that'll lead to some big changed since characters like Sun won't be introduced until far later than they were in the canon series.

Other major changes I would consider to be spoilers, so I won't talk about them here.

Premise:

Long Version:

Short version: Shattered Legacies is a more character focused retelling of RWBY with Jaune as the 4th member of the main team. With some changes to characters, plotlines, and the setting.

Summary:

The current peace which Remnant enjoys is built on the legacies of many great heroes. From those who risk their lives taking up arms against the evil forces of grimm. To those who harnessed the power of Dust build the modern world. And even those within the four kingdoms who fought valiantly against their own governments for the rights of all people of Remnant.

But even in the greatest of heroes there was darkness, and that darkness has seeped it's way into all aspects of life on Remnant. The very foundations of the peace that the four kingdoms have enjoyed for decades was crumbling, and once it collapses, they may never know peace again.

Now a new generation was beginning their legacies. Lead by a young girl living under the shadow of a mother she never truly knew. An heiress determined to cleanse the sins of her father and save her family name. The former student of a man who wanted to watch Remnant burn for it's sins. And a young man desperately trying to carry on the legacy of his family name, even if none of his family believed he could.
