In light of all the skeletons coming out of Rooster Teeth’s closet, it’s kinda funny that in RWBY, a show created by a capitalistic company exploiting its staff, many of whom are minorities, who were all encouraged to keep quiet about their suffering and “not rock the boat”, forced to work in stressful and draining jobs and being denied work benefits, being screwed over by a HR department that seeks to protect its employers over them –

Is also the show where the oppressed fantasy minority are put down for wanting to fight back against unfair treatment and be treated equally, and RWBY’s answer to that problem is peaceful passivity, toothless protests and sweeping their entire conflict under the rug, while the rich bigots pretend to care and still get to exploit them for profit by working them to death in mines. Meanwhile, the Huntsmen are indifferent to them at best or actively fight them at worst - at least the ones who make too much noise.

I guess art does imitate life over there.

hey maybe people should just stop holding onto the idea that an entire collective of individuals are actually one entity, instead of the truth, which is they are a collective of individuals.

"I don't support Rooster Teeth, but CRWBY has done nothing wrong!"

Rooster Teeth is not a person, it is a corporation comprised of many individuals. Including, like it or not, every individual that happens to also be part of CRWBY.

CRWBY is not a person, it is a subsection of a corporation comprised of many individuals. It is part of, like it or not, Rooster Teeth.

Kdin has been outspoken about the fact that there are indeed genuinely good, hardworking, loving, inclusive people who work at Rooster Teeth - including people who happen to be part of CRWBY. People are right to point that out.

Kdin also said, in no uncertain terms, that this is "A Handful" of people (her words, not mine) and the company itself is bad. She has also seemingly gone out of her way to pointedly exclude at least one certain Rooster Teeth employee who is also one of the single most controlling members of CRWBY by nature of being a show-creator, show-writer, show-producer, and main-character VA. Miles Luna is arguably the single most involved, single most controlling, single most powerful member of CRWBY, and he has not only been documented engaging in bigotry proudly and openly on camera multiple times throughout his time at Rooster Teeth, but was also - as stated - explicitly excluded from Kdin's statements in which she said she'd be happy to work with every member of the writing team but him.

Gray Haddock was also a member of CRWBY, in case anyone forgot. He was a co-director for V3-5 and a script consultant for V6, as well as a voice actor.

Gavin Free was a member of CRWBY. Ryan Haywood was a member of CRWBY as well. So was Joel Heyman. The three of them are voice actors for the series. Burnie Burns is part of CRWBY as well, having done producer work for the series as well as voice acting. Matt Hullum is also part of CRWBY, having worked as an executive producer for, I believe, it's entire run.

All of those people have worked as part of Rooster Teeth's upper management.

Three of them are of the Five Founding Fathers of Rooster Teeth itself.

"It's not CRWBY, it's Rooster Teeth!"

CRWBY is Rooster Teeth. CRWBY is a collection of individuals that work on one of the projects produced by Rooster Teeth, a corporation comprised of a collection of individuals.

CRWBY is not a single Employee, and Rooster Teeth is not a single Boss.

Rooster Teeth is a corporation and CRWBY is everyone within that corporation who works on a specific project.

Stop saying that when Kdin said that "Some" members of CRWBY wanted to do X or that "Some" of the people she worked with in CRWBY were amazing people, she is excusing EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO EVER WORKED ON THE SERIES, and is ONLY condemning the upper-management of Rooster Teeth.

The upper management of Rooster Teeth are IN CRWBY.

CRWBY is not an entity that happens to work for Rooster Teeth. CRWBY is a subsection of Rooster Teeth.

I swear, some of you guys are talking as if you think CRWBY's relationship with Rooster Teeth is the same as Rooster Teeth's relationship with Warner Bros. It is not. CRWBY is not an independent company that got bought or is controlled by a largely uninvolved third-party investor called Rooster Teeth.

Rooster Teeth makes a show called RWBY, and the people who work on that show - including three of the Five Founders of Rooster Teeth and many other high-ranking members of management - have been given the nickname 'CRWBY.'

You cannot separate "CRWBY" from "Rooster Teeth" in a neat-and-tidy, us-vs-them, good-vs-evil, heroes-vs-villains clean split. It's not that simple.

If you oppose Ryan Haywood, Gray Haddock, Joel Heyman, Gavin Free, Burnie Burns, or Matt Hallum, then congratulations, you oppose some of the members of CRWBY.

If you support certain members of CRWBY such as Miles Luna or Barbara Dunkleman and several others, then congratulations, you support some of Rooster Teeth Management.

This is not me pointing out "Bad Guys" btw (although Ryan Haywood and Joel Heyman definitely are, btw) this is just me pointing out that CRWBY and Rooster Teeth are a collective of people all mixed together, not two separate entities. You can't separate CRWBY from Rooster Teeth any more than you could take a cake and separate the flour from the eggs.

Both of these pictures show heartless, evil people in positions of leadership, and good-hearted, innocent people who are relatively powerless and under the control of the bad ones.

But everyone needs to stop acting like CRWBY is Mr. Incredible while Rooster Teeth is his antagonistic boss, because real life doesn't work that way. Rooster Teeth is a corporation comprised of many individuals. Some of those individuals are a part of the subgroup that works on the product RWBY, and have been designated "CRWBY" as a result. And some of the members of CRWBY are Rooster Teeth's Upper Management, including three of the Five Founders.

"The problem isn't CRWBY, it's Rooster Teeth! Kdin said so!"

No, Kdin said that there were "a handful" of good people that worked for Rooster Teeth, including some of her friends within CRWBY, but that the company was overall bad. And despite what you might want to think so that you can do what you're already going to do but also justify to yourself why it's actually totally fine, CRWBY is part of Rooster Teeth.

genuine question but what IS crwby to you people. is it the animators like kim newman who now have debilitating back injuried thanks to poor work conditions? or perhaps some of the hundreds of animators unceremoniously layed off and then silently replaced by freelancers and temp workers because its cheaper? voice actors like kdin or arryn who were severely abused and mistreated and unpaid?

if the answer is yes to any of those questions than supporting rwby and rt does not and will never support crwby.

it's so easy to see it as one person or a handful of people. surely gray, who to many WAS a beloved member of crwby for years lest we forget, was just the problem and now that hes gone things'll get better. except they didn't. people are still unpaid for work they did AFTER he got ousted and abused AFTER he left. there's no special team that makes rwby that gets to sit in a special little room with entirely separate management. the "crwby" concept is identical to the CEO of walmart calling every one of their employees a member of the family. a blatant lie to get people to like them.

rt could put out a video tomorrow confirming blake and yang are a couple and I need you all to come to terms with the fact that blake and yang aren't real but the actual queer people rt is throwing through the meat grinder ARE. and they are the ones getting hurt the most if you decide to prioritize your internet cartoon over making an actual line in the sand. Not even Blake's fucking voice actress is immune from this! And no, boycotting the company will NOT hurt the victims here because they weren't and will not get paid what they're owed or suddenly treated well. your lack of support will not hurt the "good" members of crwby because they can't lose what they already weren't getting.

Your first membership isn't helping crwby.

Your viewership of rwby isn't helping crwby.

Nothing you do to support that show will help anyone actually making it and if you truly cared about crwby in any capacity you'll cut RT out like a growth and hold them responsible for their actions without groveling over the hypothetical good part of RT that doesn't exist.

a lot of us didn’t face literal racism, homophobia/transphobia, ableism, harassment, death threats and more for trying to bring attention to the abuse rt was capable of, just for some of y’all to come out and talk about how ‘the fandom never should’ve ignored them :(’ just bc a well-known face came out and spoke. 

why didn’t y’all listen when mica spoke out, or when all those glassdoor reviews kept coming out with the same exact thing kdin was experiencing, why didn’t y’all drop this company when ryan came out as a predator and sex offender, why didn’t y’all listen every single time something horrible happened? why did it have to take kdin coming out to talk about her experiences for everyone’s stories to finally be believed. 

hell, i predicted what would happen anyway. i knew there would be a bunch of you who would STILL side with rt / “crwby” over kdin bc ‘well i love this show so :/ i’m gonna still support it and the creators’ despite the fact that crwby held most of the people that abused their coworkers.

either way, some of y’all are literally so fake and purposely plugged your ears when many spoke out about rt’s workplace abuse. don’t act all ‘oh no we didn’t know :( we shouldn’t have ignored them’, yeah you shouldn’t have. and this little remorse ain’t gonna be enough to cover up all the harassment and hate you spewed to the workers and fans that tried to bring awareness to this.

While not in the fandom anymore, I still feel as though I am apart of the RWBY community on tumblr. I don’t keep up with RT anymore, but for a while their podcasts and Kdin’s content especially were comforting to me. What came out yesterday is absolutely abhorrent and disgusted me to my core. What’s worse is the way Geoff is liking replies to his apology that completely defend him. Terrible fucking move Geoff. Absolutely disgusted at both Warner Bros AND Rooster Teeth

We’re officially into week two of hiatus so here’s all my Shitty RWBY character headcannons:

Ruby Rose

- before Atlas, she had stupid contact names for everyone in her scroll

- really good at makeup but doesn’t have the patience for it

- “I’ve graduated from Combat Skirts. I wear a Combat Kilt now”

- has in fact practiced her “leader face” in the mirror before

- does morning affirmations that go along the line of “You are The Huntress. You are the baddest, silver eyed bitch in Remnant. Zwei is proud of you. The moon does not care if you cry during your lunch break today so you shouldn’t either.”

Weiss Schnee

- actually hates sweet stuff. Like she had access to all really high quality stuff when she was a kid and as she grew up she kind of grew out of it

- only one on the whole team who takes her coffee black and makes fun of the others for it

- purposefully smacks people in the face with her braid but always plays it off as an accident

- Brokest Rich Bitch in Atlas

- “Hey Weiss, can you spot me?” *riffling through her FAT wallet, “Sorry can’t, I’m Atlas broke.”

- Is actually blind in her left eye and whenever someone sneaks up on her on that side she will reactively glyph them into the ceiling

Blake Belladonna

- nyan-binary

- playing a game of what weird stuff she can do and convince her friends that “it’s a Menagerie thing.”

- *wearing her boots in bed* it’s fine we do this all the time at home

- “Hey guys watch how far I can jump and still land on my feet!”

- *stubs her toe on a table* “This is a hate crime”

- she picked that up from Sun btw

- absentmindedly fluffs up her hair when she’s nervous or thinking

Yang Xiao Long

- desperately needs a haircut and she Knows it but she’d too stubborn to give up the “don’t touch my hair” schtick

- uses her semblance to dry her hair because it takes 6 hours otherwise

- her and Jaune hanging out together = “We’re just Blonde Bois doing what blonde bois do”

- everyone learned very fast after reuniting not to ask Yang for a hand

- drinks Kool-aid like a monster

Jaune Arc

- terrified of needles

- when practicing with his semblance in training he would rub his hands together and yell, “CLEAR!”

- hates coffee but started drinking it in Atlas in an attempt to seem more professional and grown up

- plays guitar but plays banjo better

- can also play spoons

- hates shoelaces with a Passion which is why his boots use snap ons

- has had Nora and Yang spin him really fast on office spinny chairs to help him get over his motion sickness

- one of those people who shushes inanimate objects when they make noise. The rest of JNOR has also picked up this habit

Nora Valkyrie

- uses her semblance to shock people

- “If I run and leap at Jaune, he will almost certainly catch me in his arms”

- the friend that you love to hate for being a morning person

- sometimes will just,,,, pick up her teammates and be like “that’s enough for today we’re going back to the room and you’re lying down and drinking some water”

- napping queen. Seriously No One can just clock out and catch a fresh 30 zs just anywhere like she can

- one of those people who doesn’t like coffee, hot chocolate, or tea and Only drinks whole milk

Oscar Pine

- notorious impulse buyer

- Hates soda. He drank it once and thought he was dying

- unironically says shit like “farm fresh baby” and “This would’ve never happened back on the farm” in response to things

- John Mulaney’s entire “Zoning Out” bit

- “I was in Ironwood’s office, he was reading me the results of the mission. It was important, I listened. And then I zoned out!”

- “Sometimes my wizard- I have this wizard- he’ll be like, ‘Are you watching the Grimm?’ And I’m always like, 'I’m holding onto Yang, and I’m not gonna fall off. But no, I’m thinking about chickens.“

Lie Ren

-is an excellent cook but bakes like Eugene Lee Yang on Without a Recipe

- has an entire vocabulary of just sounds that only Jaune and Nora fully comprehend

- “Hey Ren, you want some tea?” “Hzzm” “Two sugars or one?” “Hrrm” “You got it buddy.”

- L’oreal, because he’s worth it

- tongue piercing I will not elaborate on why

- instituted a “Team ALPN/JNOR Swear Jar” after he heard Oscar say “fuck” once under Jaune’s supervision

Qrow Branwen

- smells like campfire smoke. Everyone thinks it’s a really good cologne but he just smells like that

- gonna do the obvious one: distracted by shiny things

- one of his rings is a fidget ring

- Went through a karaoke phase

- listens to Post Malone and cries sometimes

- has done the gallon challenge

Penny Polendina

- likes to mess with people by carrying around nuts, bolts, and screws and just dropping them behind her

- intentionally misinterprets very basic forms of greeting

- remember that one scene from Lilo and Stich with the record player?

- feeds the stray cats and dogs in Mantle

- she and her dad will make fun little toys in their free time and give them out to kids. She almost always has a spare teddybear or something for when she’s down in Mantle in case she needs to comfort a kid
