hi all! sorry i’ve been off for a while, been dealing with the end of the semester and starting a new job (finally!!). i don’t know if i’ve said this, but i really appreciate all of you, and especially to the people i’ve interacted with either ic or ooc! anyway...idk i just wanted to apologize for not being on and all.

    We’re getting our groove back, I think. So that’s good. [ he falls into a thoughtful silence. honestly, he was glad they were already back to what they were before he and noya left. he’s glad his confidence is back, too. maybe that’s what brings the tiny flush to his face. ] Oh--now you’re just trying to flatter me.

“It went better than well, if you ask me.” Asahi is settling back into a comfortable rhythm, and there is nobody more suited to helping him with that than someone Asahi is already comfortable with – Karasuno’s original setter. “He brings out the great stuff in you, too.” And it’s almost funny, how easily Suga was diverted from the initial problem.

    [ suga smiles warmly, settling his hands on his hips. ] I feel even safer already! I can’t wait to win this~ [ the libero’s confidence is easily contageous. ] You all warmed up?

Noya blinked before nodding, Suga’s words did make some sense. Standing a little bit taller (as much as he could) Noya smirked a bit, looking a little cocky.

“But of course~ There’s no point in playing if you’re not aiming to win after all! And with me watching your back; we’ll have no trouble winning this game too!”

   I’m not saying you can’t... [ he rolls his eyes, expression fondly exasperated. honestly... ] Just be a little nicer. We want to be invited back. [ but he winked. ] I’m glad you’re as competitive as always, though.

Noya grumbled but knew better than to argue back when Suga’s voice gained that sort of tone. He ruffled up his own hair letting out another grumble of frustration.

“Suga.. You know that I have to make some noise before a match otherwise I can’t concentrate during it!” And he sure as heck hoped that higher ground comment wasn’t a pun on his height.

     [ he’s glad their libero is back to being his cheerful self--seeing noya gloomy is worrying. suga smiles more at the compliment, expression fond. ]            Thank you, Noya-san. I think it went well... [ he wants to work more with the younger players, but he’s glad he and asahi still click like clockwork. ]

“Okay, promise!” It doesn’t take all that much for that moment to pass. Especially after that compliment – the libero is practically glowing with pride. “Really?? Thanks, Suga-san!                                — you did too! I watched you setting to Asahi-san!”

    Wha--you don’t have to apologize, Noya, I’m just worried...be sure you eat lunch tomorrow, okay? [ he doesn’t say anything more than that. ]           Well...anyway. You did good at practice today.

“… Sorry.” There’s a story behind this, like behind most things, but it’s easier if he just apologizes; maybe Suga won’t ask. That disappointment on the other’s face is bad enough.

   Well, I’m pretty sure Ennoshita’s got him covered. [ he huffs, hands on his hips. ] And don’t you know it’s better to just ignore that? They want to get a rise out of you...better to take the high ground in those situations.

“I’m always super polite; they started the smack talking first though!” He then waved his arm in a dramatic way, pointing towards a certain trouble making second year. “Ryuu’s saying way worse things anyway!”

     Didn’t-- [ he sighs--he’s not going to assume anything about it, considering how they’d come to this topic. but. ] Noya...no wonder.

“Uh.”

“I kind of didn’t have lunch…”

   Huh? Oh--

      [ he blinks, before smiling warmly again. ] Oh, no, I was making sure everyone got one is all. Guess I didn’t realize you’d gotten your own...           Mmmm...I’m alright myself. But why were you hungry enough to buy so many? [ surely it was just that he’d worked harder than usual in practice... ]

… Oh, oops. Now he went and made Suga feel bad. Abort mission!

“Do you want another? I kinda think in hindsight I got more than I should’ve. You know that thing when you’re so hungry that it feels like you’re hungrier than you actually are?”

      [ he sheepishly gives the bag back. way to go, suga. ] I don’t think you’re selfish at all, I just--Sorry. Forget I said anything.

“Yeah, from the other bag that I didn’t buy for myself! Do you really think I’m that selfish?” He would like his lunch back very much, thank you.

     We need to be polite--they invited us to play them, remember? [ he sighs. ] Just be a bit more polite, okay?

Noya jumped before looking up at Suga in surprise. “What? All I said was that I was going to kick his stupid ass!”

      [ suga huffs. ] Did you make sure everyone else got one before gorging yourself?

“But I’m hungry!” He also may or may not have forgotten his bento at home.
