Oh, Victor. I'm so sorry. You've got a hopeless crush and you;re young and it hurts so much because you even know he's gay. You know he could be attracted to you. But he isn't. This is one-sided and painful and something that society doesn't accept even if it's unreciprocated and you're trapped in a place of knowing but not having. I just really adore Victor.

If I can share my theory, I think Krailert and Naran are not gonna end well. It has poetic doomed couple written all over and yet, they are the one getting my full attention because is not just enemies to lovers, is ideals, is responsabilities, is forbidden love, is two differente and conflicted worlds collided in the deepest claws of sweet love. Naran is still trying to prove the corruption within the goverment while Krailert wants to have full control of the media yet both have developed deep feelings for the other and both know the other is gonna get hurt in the middle of it, they know this is only gonna end bad but can't help themselves. I believe the ending of tonight's episode proves further that they are very aware of the other's intentions, they know this honeymoon face won't last and they both care deeply about the other. Oh brother, this is gonna hurt like a motherfucker.

Oh, yeah. I don't know if anyone ends up happy in this show, frankly. I smell poetic doom all over the entire show, frankly. Poetic doom is everywhere.

Hand in hand they go and they go down. Ideals, love, government versus media, where does loyalty lie in the end? Can you balance love and loyalty in this kind of situation at all?

But even Trin and Tanwa... especially with Victor there? There is so much in their moments, in the books and the origami and the protests in France and Tanwa losing his mother...

These men are all here because of fate but so often it is a cruel fate that calls them together when they cannot be.

Victor's crush on Trin is so tragic and beautiful and gentle in so many ways. He is a poor young man in a time when nothing he is can help him and nothing he is supports his dreams but he sees this professor who cares and who knows so much more than he does and who sees the world differently and he falls so hard that nothing could break his fall, nothing can save his landing, a broken heart will be his because Trin already has his heart set in one direction and that will not change.

Victor loves because he sees so much in Trin of what he wishes he could be, of what he dreams of doing and seeing, of a future he knows that he cannot have and the world he wants to change so he, and others like him, have that chance. And what he sees in Trin, what he loves in Trin, is that dream realized. He argues and he debates but he listens and he has learned the world over and he understands things that Victor is only beginning to realize matter.

I was kinda confused the the beginning of Shine. Did I miss something in the past eps? Last I thought Trin was still confused about his feelings. I didn't realize they were at the point in their relationship to where Tanwa is stealing kisses from him under a table?

Honestly anon? I got nothing. I was also rather surprised by that moment. It felt very casual in a way that came as a surprise to me.

I have no idea.

I did think he felt more unsure than that but there's always the possibility that I read it wrong. or didn't remember something from last week.

I do think Trin has been coming around to this more and more and to allowing himself to simply want something, who or what that something is not mattering, is what he wanted to do.

Trin wants to want something. He wants to dream and crave and be free in that matter and he finds that easy with Tanwa because everything Tanwa does is based on simply wanting and acting on it, never thinking about it.

So... I don't know, anon. I am not watching some aspects on this show super carefully.

Trin at this bonfire circle is me whenever I do anything with a large group of non-nerdy people. Just questioning everything and wondering how, exactly, I ended up here.

So Krailert is sleeping with/developing feelings for Naran. His lonely wife is thirsting after his (I'm assuming) 2nd in command. Who could've seen this one sided lavender marriage ending up this way?!

There was no way to predict it. None. A complete and utter shock. Who could have imagined that making a gay man marry a woman could end badly? Absolutely wild. Beyond imagining.

That general choosing to marry his daughter to a gay man was a choice he made and I wonder if he ever regretted doing that to her. Or if he just never thought about it that way.

Nothing like two men secretly holding hands in a theater while writing back and forth as critiques of shared music all the while their romance is both aired to the world and held so secret that no one can know and it's both sweetly romantic and achingly painful. Two men in love who can only be in love in the shadows and the dark places, whose love is broadcast to the world but not as they are but as society would accept them. Two men who would shout to the world their love but cannot because they are trapped in a society that does not allow it. (And one is married to a woman because his job required it in a way and now he's so much more trapped but so is she and she has no idea how trapped he is or why)

How do we cope with overwhelming feelings of loss and horrible depression?! Drugs and sex. Drugs. And. Sex. We escape the emotion.

And maybe a bit of journaling on the side.

Jet is learning all kinds of things today.

There is a real danger in pushing your new crush into the water and that danger is he turns out to be hot when he's wet.

Again. I love him. I adore him. And then he takes a punch for Jet. Because he is perfect. Love him so much.

Only it turns out the being wet suits him and he can't see anything without his glasses. Poor guy. Jet is gonna regret this despite himself. He's too impulsive and hot tempered despite himself.
