Did a quick rough redesign of Acrynix
I’ve always felt his concept was kinda cool, but the execution was a little flat

Rygnios Canyons
The south western region of Rygnios is a single massive canyon. Though it is all contained with a single canyon there is a variety of locals to see

Time to get a sense of the Rygnios environments
These are just some quick roughs I made to get a sense of the world
The Rygnios Plains
The most defining feature of the plains is the off stone pillars that are scattered across the land. Believed by some locals to fossilized fragments of a colossal’s bones that was shattered in times past.

Some new Rygnios creature sketches
Diregran
A beast commonly found in mountainous regions of Rygnios. The Diregran is a quick and agile wyvern that will quickly grab prey off the ground and kill them in flight. Diregran are also covered in layers of sharp spines that will spike up when attempting to look threatening or enraged. And finally equipped with a sharp poisonous tail.
Diregran are able to fire volleys of spikes from its wings and tail to attack prey or predators from a distance.
Argonyx
The absolute endgame of Rygnios. The Argonyx is an abomination from the plague land. A once extinct creature reanimated by the Spine’s fluid. The Argonyx, also known as the Ash Baron by the tribes whom have witnessed the beast fly through the sky, has been described as a living volcano. Able to breath burning ash, it is what has darkened the sky of the plague land.
Though the Tyrgarok Alpha is considered the top of the food chain, the Argonyx is considered above it. Though this is a special case as it is literally a reanimated corpse.
Vulragoa
A large whale like leviathan that lives in the volcanic region of Rygnios. It is a neutral creature, not looking for a fight. Just living its every day life, consuming small magma krill as its primary diet.

A quick rough I made a few days ago
The Crixylis
A large ambush predator that live in the frigid climate of Northern Rygnios
The spikes on it’s body are in fact a poison fluid that is slowly secreted from its body as the air freezes it.
They’re not a species to stay in one place. Though they create burrows for ambushing, they’ll often travelling to areas with an abundance of prey where they will then create a new burrow.
It’s not uncommon to find an empty burrow filled with skeletons from past meals. Northeners will actually seek these burrows so they can gather the bones as a resource for construction, cooking, and weapons
Crixylis are able to fire the spikes on it’s back, but to full grow back a spike can take weeks. So they’ll usually only launch them as a final form of defense.

A currently unfinished creature
The Kurspir
A sentient coral reef, the Kurspir primarily lives in the oceans surrounding Rygnios, but will occasionally exit the water when migrating.
These things are generally neutral, as they don’t really have a nervous system. But should you try to fight one will not hesitate to defend itself.
As well as an infinished female armor set and buster gauntlets that would be made from a Kurspir

Kinrakos
A tropical creature. These guys aren't very aggressive. They prefer to just live a slow and lazy life. They are toxic though, able to release a poisonous miasma when they feel threatened.
Tuktanos
A raptor like creature that generally lives in tropical areas. They are pack animals, but they mostly feed on fish. Preferring to live near the ocean and any other body of water.
They are actually rather friendly, as species they prefer to avoid any actual conflict
Tyragarok Alpha
The absolute top of the Rygnios food chain, the Tyragarok Alpha is what a fully grown Tyragarok looks like. The species in fact has no actual size limit. They will grow indefinitely until they die of natural causes, are killed by a hunter, or are hunted down by the Alpha. Most of the Tyragaroks you would hunt are in fact young adults, because a full grown adult is incredibly rare.
There is only ever a single Alpha at a time among the entire species, and to maintain their position as the Alpha they will actively hunt down and kill any other Tyragaroks that may be growing large enough to challenge them for dominance.
Unlike a tradition Tyragarok, the Alpha is MUCH bigger and with that is significantly stronger and unimaginably more difficult to take down. And unlike most of the species the Alpha is able to use a breath attack, an ability that only develops when they reach adult hood.
Should an Alpha die for whatever reason, Rygnios will generally become a much more dangerous place. As Tyragaroks become free to grow with no factor keeping them from fully maturing. Once enough have reached adulthood, infighting will begin until a new Alpha rises. Though thankfully it takes many MANY years for a Tyragarok to fully mature to adulthood.
The Colossus
Remember how the mountain range of Rygnios is the spine of a giant monster? Yeah, that's a Colossal.
And this is the only one that's still alive. It's not the same species as the one making up the Rygnios mountains though.
Not much is known about it, since it remains submerged in the ocean almost all of the time. But it is very, VERY big.
Vyrdranos
Primarily living in the mountains, the Vyrdranos is a very territorial creature. Prefer to find a nice area with lots of prey to consume and staying their for the rest of their lives.
Y'know, until it's mating season. But I'd rather not go into that.
These guys are rather slow when it comes to movement, but have a unique evolution when it comes to breath attacks. Each head is able to fire off fireballs in rapid succession. Making them incredibly dangerous from a distance.
Gorganox
A creature of the Abomination subtype.
This refers to a creature that would not naturally evolve, and are generally creatures that had their evolution corrupted by fluid flowing from the Spine Mountains.
The Gorganox primarily lives near the waters of the Plague Land. They are quick despite their size, and will often try to eat their prey whole, digesting them in their strong stomach acids
Obrynos
Another abomination. These guys also live in the Plague Land. Big ol carnivores, the just want to feed their uncontrollable hunger.
Watch out for their stinger tails and acid spit
Bulgras
The male variation of a type of cattle. Think the Rygnios equivalent of a bull
Fligzund
A cousin of the Fliezund, these guys are essentially Fliezund that grew to accommodate a more bipedal structure, using rocks and other debris to maintain their structure
Framios
A plant creature with a raptor like body. Think of them as venus flytrap in the form of a raptor. They eat small game. They are pack creatures that prefer to live in dense jungles, but on some occasions may wander near the plains and forests.
Though they don't have any meat, delicious fruits grow along their tails. People will often try to capture them so they can pluck the fruit.

Gatzrahn
An incredibly territorial and aggressive wyvern, they are arguable one of the most dangerous creatures on Rygnios.
They will fight, kill, and eat just about anything, even their own kind.
Evolved to have a body covered in incredibly strong and sharp spikes, these guys are brutal in physical combat, tearing at the flesh of their prey with is claws, fangs, and even wings.
Though due to these spikes their wings are torn and Gatzrahns are unable to fly/
They live in the mountains and deep in the jungle, so pray you don’t happen to wonder into one without the proper equipment.

Fliezund
A large nomadic carnivorous plant, the Fliezund is... Just weird.
Storing up water in its body via its legs, it travels the land in search of food. Should its water level get low, it'll plant itself in the ground and store up more water so it can continue its travels.
Its big orange ass is also its stomach, anything it eats can be seen floating in their as it’s digested.
Kind of wanted to mix it up with a plant creature. Monster hunter doesn’t have one, so I decided to make one.

Brenwolk
A distant cousin of the Ghaskrago, these guys have evolved to have metal carapaces that allow them to maintain their body temperature.
These guys are able to release explosive gases from their bodies and using their mouths as a flint, light their bodies on fire.
They're also INCREDIBLY intelligent. From watching humans use their thruster packs, they've learned to imitate this action by releasing gases from certain areas of their bodies and igniting them to propel themselves via explosions
So I wanted to create a hyper mobile creature, since I thought from a mechanical standpoint that would be an interesting fight. Thruster packs allow hunters to be super mobile, so what if there was a creature that could match that mobility?

Zelgrados
The Tyrant of the sea, Zelgrados is a giant leviathan that instills fear in anyone that must brave the waters. Able to release powerful blasts of water and wind combined with its brute strength has lead many to avoid the ocean.
Though a sea leviathan he is not bound to the water. Thanks to his fin arms, he is able to travel onto land though at an obviously much slower pace.
This guy is BIG, be sure to bring friends.
The story of how this guy ended up being made is pretty funny. I designed a head for a creature, and my friend said “ok, now draw the rest of it.” And that’s how Zelgrados was made.

Acrynix
The enemy of nature, the Acrynix is a dangerous beast that is able to secrete and spew acid. And it’s due to this fact that its very presence destroys the habitat of the other creatures of Rygnios. Causing many to relocate and get dangerously close to humans.
Along with its acid the Acrynix is able to fly for unexplained reasons. Those brave enough to try to figure it out have come up empty handed.
The only thing the people of Rygnios know about the Acrynix is that it must be dealt with as soon as possible.
I really wanted to make something with a weird anatomy, and while designing him the acid theme just kind of came naturally. If this where a monster hunter game this guy would probably be the final boss of the low rank quests.

Ghaskrago
Best way to describe these guys is they’re a walking Iceberg full of lava and hate.
Due to their high body temperature, the Ghaskrago will often be found at the top of the Spined Mountains to maintain the body temperature.
Hibernating for a majority of the year to get their bodies encased in a protective layer of ice which is essentially acts as their skin. A Ghaskrago without it’s ice casing is essentially like having no skin.
Ghaskrago are INCREDIBLY aggressive, knowing they cannot be active for long periods of time without losing their ice shell. They act fast and aggressively to capture and eat their prey as quickly as possible.
Should a Ghaskrago fight for to long, knowing their ice may melt/break, they will flee from the fight. Better to live to look for a less resilient meal than to die.
When I was working on this guy I pretty much wanted to make an inverse of the classic reptile. Rather than be cold blooded and sunbath, what if it was a lava monster and had to stay in the mountains to maintain its heat.
