“First time i’ve heard you complain about that.” Rylan chucked, the serious look on the daughter’s face was equal parts funny and adorable. She was such a perfectly blended sass of the two of them it wasn’t hard to tell who her parents are just by being around her for a couple of seconds, Savannah was truly Rylan and Nate’s daughter. “Oh, I can share the bed too? You’re so generous baby! I think that’s a very good idea, but maybe just at the weekend, we can have sleepovers and watch Frozen.” The suggestion entirely selfish, she wanted her boyfriend all to herself sometimes. It was hard for the two of them to have special time just the two of them with a wriggling two year old sleeping in the middle. “What do you think Nate, weekend sleepover and movie nights?” She rose an eyebrow at him with a grin, knowing that wouldn’t stop the two year old from running into their room in the early hours of the morning like she did most nights, but it was worth a try.
God, was Nate perfect or what? As she was pulled carefully towards him by the hand on her ass she dropped a kiss against his lips gently, smiling against them before moving away properly. Forcing herself to remember they were in the middle of the Ikea showroom rather than at their own apartment, or even in the car which would provide a little more privacy. “You’re too good to me sometimes, but you already know that.” A disapproving glance because he had such unrelenting faith in her it was often hard to understand how he managed it, she only saw her failures, but Nate seemed to just see her positives instead. Maybe that was why they balanced each other out nicely. “Bob!” She laughed as Savannah clapped, passing her across to Nate so she could grab the handle of the shopping cart and follow them towards the restaurant. “Yeah, good point, maybe we’ll cut your meatballs into little bits just while you’re so little baby. Mama would never forgive herself if she choked on your dinner.” Eliciting the little girl’s tongue to come pointing out of her mouth towards Rylan as a response, making her have to try and suppress her smile knowing it would just encourage that behaviour in the future. “Hey, less of that missy, if the wind changes you might stay like that.”
As they arrived at the cafe she parked up the cart before instructing Nate and Savannah to find a table for the three of them so she could go get the food. Miming to the man to check he wanted meatballs and French fries, knowing that’s what the toddler would have but on a much smaller scale of course. With copious amounts of ketchup, there was nothing she wouldn’t eat with that stuff smothered all over it, much to Rylan’s confusion. It being something she personally hated. Sliding trays of food in front of them all carefully she stole a French fry from Savannah’s plate before starting to cut up her food for her, there were some things she had down as a mom at this point, making sure nothing bad happened to her little princess was one of them, making sure to divide up the food before Savannah even had a chance to argue on the matter. “Do you think they’ll deliver the stuff today?” She asked Nate as she carried on with her task, wondering if they’d have to keep sleeping on a mattress on the floor a little longer or if the bed might actually get into the house tonight. “I want to see that the bed is strong enough, that’s all.” Shooting him a wink as she passed the fork across the the little girl, watching as she stabbed a bite with it enthusiastically, shoving it into her tiny mouth with all the dramatics someone performing on stage.
Tumblr media
"You take my hoodies, I take the beds!" Nate argued back with a grin. He really didn't mind Rylan wearing his clothes- in fact, it was wonderful to see her wearing them- and this was all down to teasing. After all, at the end of the day, he slept best with Rylan in his arms, and he knew it was the same for her. They'd spent plenty of nights talking to each other for hours while Rylan had to be away, and now that they had the luxury of being together each night, Nate wasn't going to let that go. So when Savannah frowned, thinking hard about what her mother said, trying to understand what to do, he couldn't help but laugh. "It's okay, honey. Mama can sleep like that all she wants, but we get to cuddle." He assured her with a playful wink, and the girl nodded immediately, thankful that there was a resolution to this before she lost it. "Unless Mama wants to share the bed with the two of us, and we can all spend the night cuddling? What do the two of you think?"
"I think you could do whatever you want, and you'd succeed at it, love." He smiled at Rylan, genuinely believing it. Rylan was so amazing, so beautiful, so perfect, that it made sense to him; no matter what she was willing to do, she would absolutely succeed at it. She was already amazing at modeling, and she was perfect at being a mom to their daughter. And now, she was perfect at teasing him back, urging Nate to do more. So his hand remained on her butt, playfully albeit carefully moving her towards him for another moment or two before he finally let go. After all, he would have more than enough time to make up for it when they were back home, testing out the new bed.
"Bob!" Savannah clapped along gleefully while her mother sang, much to Nate's delight. It didn't matter to him that they got a look or two from people around them because all he cared about was his girlfriend and his daughter. It was so weird to think about Rylan as just his girlfriend, but he was still terrified about facing the obvious and admitting the awful secret that he was holding all to himself. The longer he waited the higher the possibility was that she would leave him over it, and the fear was paralyzing. It was easier to pretend that all was fine than face the unfortunate reality. His mind quickly shifted away from those thoughts when Rylan spoke up, making him laugh out loud before a blush crept up his cheeks. "Maybe don't be as eager and... capable as mommy is, darling." He offered to Savannah, despite a quick glance or two he cast Rylan's way. Instead, he focused on his daughter, quickly picking her up from Rylan's arms when he noticed the way his girlfriend was clearly straining to hold her. "And Savannah would love to help me with my workouts, right, Sav?" He grinned at Savannah, lifting her up joyfully and making the girl squeal. Leaving the trolley to Rylan, he was quick to play along to their daughter's requests, leading the way towards the restaurant.

Rylan had to keep reminding herself that she wasn’t in the middle of New York city right now, she didn’t have to be wary of every single person that walked up to her. This was a small town, it was much more low key, not everyone had walked straight off the set of Law and Order SVU as much as her constant watching of that show might try to convince her otherwise. Plus this man seemed to genuinely want to be helpful and not wanting to bother Nate at work she was at the mercy of letting a stranger come to her aid or otherwise she would be walking home with Savannah in her arms instead. The two year old could walk but not that distance.
“Maybe to you, I don’t think I’d be able to do it on my own, not without the ongoing journey being really fu…flipping dangerous.” Rylan joked with a small smile, peering into the trunk at the same time as him, keeping everything crossed that there was actually a spare there because otherwise…well no she would do the unthinkable and be positive. Letting out a shrike of excitement she never thought a spare tire would cause her to make in a million years she felt Sav jolt in her arms as she looked up at the loud noise, moving to pat the back of her head softly as she apologised quietly under her breath. “Sorry angel, go back to sleep.” Osiris, that was a name she didn’t hear often, and she was from the fashion world. Juniper was apparently still full of surprises. Oh they were neighbours? Well that was putting her even more at ease, the tiny frisson of joy in her chest as Nate was (even if it was incorrectly) called her husband silently wishing it wasn’t something she had to correct the man on. “Oh well, no he’s not my husband we’re not actually married. He’s my boyfriend, he’s Sac’s dad, we’re just not married yet.” Did she sound bitter? She hadn’t meant to sound it but…well…what was he actually waiting for? “No you really don’t, you don’t sound creepy. We made our presence known when we arrived with this little one running around like a headless chicken and the amount of boxes we came up and down those stairs with. Can’t blame you for noticing. Sorry about that by the way.”
Tumblr media
osiris knew that he had to come off a little strange at first. he couldn't imagine being a mother with a small child and have a stranger pull up on the side of the road to help. so he had tried to be a friendly as possible and informative. showing the card letting her know he did own a shop he felt was probably the most helpful. with all the rain that had came through it had made it a little chilly out and he had wanted to offer a little help so the two of them wouldnt end up sick while he changed the tire.
"you arent in my hair, really no trouble at all. changing a tire is probably the easiest thing that could protentional be wrong with your car asides changing windshield wipers." he explained as he nodded. he had made his way over to her door and waisted no time popping the trunk open to take a look to see if there was a spare. "we wouldnt let that happen. there are far too many friendly people around juniper to let you walk home with a child on your hip." he reassured her. "pleasure to meet you." he told her softly as he looked through to find the spare. "here.." he said softly. "you have one." he gave her a small smile. "i'm osiris.. or just iris.. poor little thing. she was be exhausted.. i will try my best to hurry up so we can get you two back out on the road and back home. i was just heading back to my own place at the apartments down the road." he explained. "i think you guys may be on my floor.. i had seen you with.. your husband i suppose moving in." he told her. "i think i just keep making myself sound more creepier." he laughed softly as he moved quickly to his own truck to get his jack and began to jack the car up. "we live on the same floor was all i was getting at."

“They really are, so often there are things I don’t think she’ll notice and she absolutely does. More than me most of the time!” Rylan grinned as she crouched down next to her daughter, pressing a kiss to the side of her head, being completely ignored thanks to the interest in the make up instead. Honestly as long as the toddler was entertained and quiet then she was happy, it was far less embarrassing than when she’d been running around like a headless chicken annoying the photographer. Too much like her own mother for her own good ironically - Rylan was normally the one annoying photographers.
“Oh how sweet, what are they called?” Rylan couldn’t imagine Savannah being that big, she still wasn’t sure what happened but somehow she blinked and her newborn was running around all on her own like a real little human. Sassy as the day is long. “Throwing himself down the stairs? He sounds like he’d get along well with Savannah’s dad, he’s a stuntman and actor so he literally does that as a job. Like a grown up child, he has untameable energy as well.”
It was actually really nice to be able to chat to a fellow young, working mother, since Rylan didn’t really have any friends who were like her in that way. Her social circles were still partying it up until the early hours in the morning not understanding why sometimes the woman wanted to just stay in bed watching Frozen with her daughter, but maybe that would be easier to deal with now she’d moved away for a little while. Distance being the perfect excuse. “How long have you had this place?”
Tumblr media
"They're little sponges aren't they?" She asked with a chuckle as she watched the interaction between Savannah and Rylan. Aslan had always been careful to watch her mouth in the presence of her children... really any children in general because although she knew that they were just simply words to anyone who didn't know the meaning she also knew that people would often giggle at such exchanges causing the habit that much harder to break children of because they loved the attention that they were being given for it.
Aslan chuckled "I have a four year old daughter and an eight year old son... trust me there's no need to explain." She laughed "Aydin just went through his super hero phase, tossing himself off of furniture and down the stairs with nothing but a sheet tied around his shoulders... I understand the untamable energy of a child." She laughed.
Aslan in no way wanted the women to feel guilty. Children were a handful even while on their best behavior and that was a completely normal thing. "Listen there's no need to try and explain it to me." She assured the women "I'm sure you already have to explain yourself to enough people being a working mom... yet again something that I can completely understand." She smiled. Life was so double sided for mothers in the working industry she had realized so any way that she could help a fellow struggling mother she didn't mind jumping in.

“Nooo, naughty dada, you can’t just take people’s beds!” Rylan joined in as the little girl giggled in her arms, eyebrows raising as she heard that actually Nate would be sleeping with his daughter instead of his girlfriend. Well that was a turn up for the books. “Oh he’s sleeping with you is he? Well lucky me, I get to spread out like a starfish in the middle of the bed every night with all the space to myself, how lovely.” The whole thing just teasing because obviously it was well known that Rylan didn’t sleep as well if Nate wasn’t laying next to her. Even when he was just out at work she would lie staring at the ceiling until he came in, often when she was away for work herself she’d fall asleep with the two of them on the phone or FaceTime. She just felt more comfortable when he felt closer. Maybe it was the woman being needy but…she couldn’t help it.
“It’s funny isn’t it? I’ve spent my whole life modelling but really I should have been a stand up comedian.” Rolling her eyes with yet another blush as his attempt to tease her ended up in the most classic Nate way to just be home paying her the most lovely compliment. The squeeze of her butt making her smirk at him, eyes testing him to go further with a laugh. Just watching him do something as simple as writing down the number for the bed, their bed, it was a kind of sweet domesticity she’d never pictured for her life but felt so perfect for them right now. A long way from the bright nightlights of New York where she’d spent her nights drinking and taking recreational drugs, now she was a mom and for all intents and purposes a wife. Although her significant other had yet to propose, not for lack of her dropping heavy hints.
“Bob the builder, can he fix it, Bob the builder, yes he can!” Rylan sand as she lifted the two year old onto her hip, pressing a kiss to her cheek with difficulty as she nodded at the request to eat something before they left. “You need to be big and strong, so let’s head tor the meatballs and see if you can fit a whole one in your mouth all at the same time. I know I can.” Not looking at Nate as she said it, unable to stop herself, just chuckling quietly under her breath. “Here, daddy will carry you, he needs to make sure he keeps up on arm day otherwise he won’t be able to do all his big stunts right?” Passing their daughter over to him from her already aching arms.
Tumblr media
"Does it mean I get your bed, Sav?" Nate played along to Rylan's question, raising a brow as he pretended to be serious, looking at the girl who shook her head quickly. "No dada!" Savannah explained patiently. "Dada sleep with me." She said seriously, prompting yet another smile from Nate. How did he ever get so lucky? Here he was, standing in front of his precious daughter and his blushing girlfriend, and he couldn't imagine a better life for himself. Rylan was naturally his everything, so to have Savannah, who had somehow topped that, was a cherry on top. Both of them were his absolutely everything, the two people he would risk it all.
"You're such a comedian, darling." Nate pretended to roll his eyes before breaking into a smile. "It's not my fault that the love of my life is an absolutely perfect and beautiful supermodel and I don't even come close to her." He added teasingly, playfully squeezing her butt before moving on to take down the number for the bed. They were still in a public setting, even if more and more people were paying attention to other things but them, but he didn't want to risk it. Especially when Savannah was trying to catch onto their every word, every action, questioning just about everything. "Of course, you help! I'll be Bob the builder and you'll be my best assistant!" Besides, that would give Rylan some time to herself, maybe take a nap or just relax. He was forever thankful for everything she was willing to do for their little family, everything she had sacrificed, and he wanted to show her his appreciation as much as he could.
"We're going to need all the strength we can get! You promise to eat so you can help me with all the building, little star?" Nate questioned Savannah, playfully squeezing her arm to accentuate the muscles she had. The girl squealed again, and Nate grinned, moving over to where their shopping trolly was. "Come on, let's get going! And we can get whatever we still need after we had something to eat."

Raising her eyebrows, Rylan pulled away just enough to look at her daughters tiny but serious face, unable to stop herself grinning. God she was cute. And that wasn’t just because she was totally biased. “Your bed? You heard the girl Nate, it’s her bed.” Even the simple compliment from her boyfriend (well was partner more of the word? They had a child together, he just…hadn’t proposed yet and honestly Rylan wasn’t sure why) was enough to put a little blush on her face. Heart swooping at his relaxed boyish smile. Lifting the little girl off the bed so she was leaving it free for Nate to finish tidying up - grateful that maybe people would stop staring at them for a second. At least while Savannah was quiet.
“Of course you think they’re awesome, because a normal pencil reminds you just how small you are.” Teasing as she closed her eyes when his lips came into contact with her cheek, humming under her breath. “You look like a giant too, maybe you should carry them around at all times, not the worst idea in the world right?” Rylan was exhausted and Savannah was clearly flagging too, but the real backbone of this situation was Nate, propping the two of them up with his relentless enthusiasm, she had no idea how she’d gotten so lucky with that man. That he wanted her. There were still days she woke up needing to pinch herself that he was his family, this was her family. Not that she did have another one but this was different, she felt accepted and safe here in a way she never had with her parents. They might have cut her off but as long as she had these two in her corner everything would turn out okay.
“I can’t wait to watch you try and put all this together, our very own bob the builder, right princess? Daddy is going to be like bob the builder for us.” Making the two year old giggle, glancing over at Nate with a cheeky grin. “I help!” She exclaimed, eliciting another laugh from her mother. “Well then we are absolutely going to need to get you some lunch, meatballs or otherwise, so you guys can keep your strength up right?”
Tumblr media
Savannah continued to squeal and giggle, trying to both wiggle out of her mother's kisses and capture each and every one of them, making Nate smile. How did he ever get so lucky? He had always wanted to have a family of his own and to have Rylan, and this perfect little girl they had as their daughter. Really, if he had told that to himself five years ago, that this would be his life now, he wouldn't have believed it. It was almost too good to be true.
Almost immediately, Savannah fell silent, seriously taking her mother's threat. "My bed." She demanded, a lot quieter right now as she held onto Rylan, as if it would somehow make the possibility of not getting this wonderful bed go away. "You're adorable, babe." Nate teased Rylan with a smile as he finally got up from the bed, finishing fixing it up and going over to his girls. He could've easily paid attention to the people who glanced their way, and noticed the looks they were receiving, but none of it mattered. All it mattered was making his girlfriend and his daughter happy. "What do you mean, stupid little pencils? They're awesome! I feel like a giant holding that pen and that notepad." He grinned cheekily, taking both of those items out of his jacket's pocket to note down the bed's code. Once done, he leaned over, kissing first Savannah's cheek, and then Rylan''s. It was a long day for all of them, and he could only but be proud about both of them managing all of this so well.
"They better be delivering, I'm willing to put it all together, but I'm not willing to play Tetris in our little car." After all, it had survived so much already. "Has anything caught your eye, darling? Cause otherwise, I'd be willing to stop by the restaurant and get some of those Swedish meatballs."

Rylan laughed at that comparison, now that truly would be a heroic move, shrugging her shoulders at the additional comment. “Hey, I’m not here to judge. I have a Loro Piana coat so that would be pretty two faced of me, although it’s not like I paid for it myself. I was gifted it for some event at some point so my sacrifice would be nowhere near as heroic. Seriously though, to take on this little tyke is … that’s some hero shit.”
The swearword from her lips eliciting a cry of “mama!” From Savannah, one tiny finger pointed towards her mom. “Sorry baby, I meant to say sugar.” Being so small she knew that the other had no idea what the swear word actually meant, but she and Nate were trying to swear less around Sav because she was picking up words rapidly, which was how she had gathered that was the reaction to give the use of it. Immediately calling the other people out.
“Oh! You have a daughter?” Brightening up to hear that she was a fellow mother, the guilt easing a little only because she knew there was an understanding there. “Sav just has boundless amounts of energy, she gets that from her dad. I promise I’m normally more on top of it but…well she really knows how to pick her moments.”
Tumblr media
Aslan couldn't help but chuckle lightly when the women called her a lifesaver "hardly." She smiled as she moved from her sitting position next to the little girl, who was still dabbing the brushes against her cheeks as she watched herself in the front facing camera of Aslan's cellphone, so that she could properly speak with Rylan. "Now if a fire broke out in the kitchen and I threw my Loro Piana coat over the flames for the sake of the greater good than perhaps I could be considered a hero." She spoke.
"Just to be clear I do not have a Loro Piana." She insisted, not wanting the women to think she had spent $33,000 on a coat. In all honesty there was probably a coat of the same cost hanging in her mothers closet but Aslan had never been the type to justify such an unnecessary purchases when there were people who could desperately use that money.
"It really wasn't a problem... I can spot a struggling mom when I see one." She spoke before realizing that her words could be misunderstood. "I just mean I've had to bring my daughter to work on more than one occasion and people don't exactly come to a winery to listen to a four year old explain in vivid detail why markers are better than crayons."

As he walked around her car the woman got out of it carefully, still holding onto her daughter who was attached to her like a limpet. Well that would teach Rylan and Nate for treating her like the queen of the house, since now she ruled the roost. “Oh good! I mean not that I’d know the difference if i’d bent the rim…well I could probably by looking at it but, this car shit isn’t really my thing.” Shaking her head as he offered them the option of sitting in his truck, the woman was reckless but not when she had Savannah with her, while Rylan alone probably would have hopped into the car to save from being a little chilly, right now she couldn’t run the risk. “No no it’s all good, I’ve got her coat in the back let me just grab it so she doesn’t catch a cold and then we’ll get out of your hair.”
“Ummm…” As she was asked about the spare in her trunk, pulling a face as she shrugged because Rylan literally had no idea. They hadn’t stopped to change a flat on their road trip….so presumably that meant the spare was still in the trunk….right? Even if this guess was just a shot in the dark. “You’re going to have to take a look, like I said the car stuff isn’t something I know anything about. We put one in before we left New York so it should still be there.” Smiling gratefully as he wrapped the blanket around Savannah who snuggled against her mother’s chest on the brink of drifting off to sleep, well that would explain the temper tantrum, she was beyond overtired. Doing as she was told she followed the man around to the back of her car, now getting nervous that there wouldn’t be a spare and she’d be stranded out here with a two year old  and a stranger. “I really appreciate the help, if I was doing this on my own we’d be walking home. I'm Rylan by the way, this is Savannah.” Nodding towards the little one who lifted her head just enough to peer at the other.
Tumblr media
Osiris nodded as he listened to her talk, “give me a second.” the man had walked away and around her car so he could see what was wrong. Stumbling upon the flat tire he had took a better look to see if she had bent the rim or not. Making his way back over to the window he spoke. “Well thankfully you didn’t bend your rim so i just need to get the tire off and change it. Shouldn’t take all but twenty minutes at MOST and that is if we run into problems.” He explained to the female. “First things first you and your daughter are going to have to get out of the car.. I don’t want to take a risk of being squished because the car is moving all around.” He teased a little. “You’re more than welcome to sit in my truck if it is too cold out here for you ladies.” It was probably stupid to offer a complete stranger to sit in his unoccupied vehicle while he was under a car but that was how Iris was. He had always been a giver and at times it had gotten him in terrible situations. Though he was certain this wasn’t one of them.
“Secondly please tell me that you have a spare in your trunk because this is going to get a lot more complicated if not because I didn’t drive my tow truck here tonight because I didn’t think I’d run into problems.” Osiris noted as he took a step back to give her some space to get out of the car. “And if you’re not going to get in the truck there here…” he stepped away for a moment and opened the door to his old truck and pulled out a throw blanket. Moving a little he placed the blanket over the little girl in her arms, “here you go little buddy, let’s keep you from catching a cold while i fix your mamas car right up.” Looking back up at ry he smiled, “pop your trunk for me and let’s see if you got one in there."

They were getting glances from people around them that were shopping but Rylan couldn’t care less, was it because of who she was, that she and Nate had been in the headlines for their Dancing with the Stars scandal, or because their two year old daughter was screeching at the top of her voice? There was no way of knowing but it didn’t really matter either way. It’s not like Rylan was making things any better by peppering kisses all over the toddler’s face quickly as she herself laughed loudly. Family days like this were some of her favourites, being parents was exhausting, but that didn’t mean she would change it for anything. Even as Savannah hung off her like she was a climbing frame.
“Okay take a breath baby, if you’re too loud they won’t let us have the bed.” Wrapping her arms around the girl as she koalaed herself to the woman’s front, wrapping both her arms and legs around her, which allowed attentions to be turned to Nate. “I think it might be something like a yes, though there is no way to really be sure. Me? As long as you’re in it baby then it’s the best.” She cooed in a soppy voice, smirking at him. The bed was hardly what they’d slept on in the apartment back in New York but that had been purchased before her parents cut her off leaving the couple to fend for themselves. They hadn’t gone as far as to actually take the mattress away though.
“Do you want to write this one down with those stupid little pencils, they deliver right? There is no way in hell we’d be able to get this into the car.” The car they had spent just over a week in as they drove across the country about a week ago, making a trip of the move, which in hindsight was…ambitious.
Tumblr media
Nate knew it probably would've been smarter to not encourage Savannah to act so boldly, but he was a sucker for displays of joy and affection. Besides, the little girl was merely two, still just a baby, and babies did get a pass for just about anything, didn't they? Not that Nate could ever say no to his daughter. So he remained grinning as Rylan came up to them, pulling their daughter to herself, giving him a moment to catch his breath. Was he getting old? Probably, even if it was more likely that the work, the move, and everything else were catching up to him.
Savannah squealed again, scrunching up her little face as her mother kissed her, yet not even attempting to pull away. Watching the two interact still felt so wonderfully overwhelming to Nate, and he loved every moment of it. To think that he'd find the family he had always dreamed about in Rylan was more than he had ever asked for, and he wished that he could find ways to thank her every single day. Yet, all he was doing lately was pulling her out of her comfort zone, moving them across the country to an apartment that felt the size of her bedroom, shopping in a place where their entire budget was probably the size of what her old bed used to cost.
"My bed." The girl nodded along seriously before breaking into giggles again as she demanded her mother's attention, her tiny little arms wrapped around Rylan's neck for support. "I think that's a yes." Nate smiled, reaching over and playfully tickling Savannah's foot before getting up to fix the mess they had made out of the bed covers. "What do you think, though? It's not the best, but should be enough for a few months."

You’d think Rylan would be embaressed by this display, would try to stop what was going on since they were in public, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Across the showroom looking at various duvet covers the sound of her daughters screeching giggle was distinct enough to make the woman turn around, grin spreading onto her face as she caught sight of Nate following Savannah under the covers. Wandering over to where they were playing she stood with her hands on her hips in mock annoyance, expression twisted into a stern glare even though the glint in her eyes gave away how she truly felt. “I walk away for one second and there is total havoc over here, what am I going to do with you two, huh?” Reaching out to grab her daughter’s ankles so she could pull her gently towards her on the mattress, leaning down to pepper kisses across her face as she giggled and tried to wiggle out of Rylan’s clutches. “You’re bed testing for me are you? What do you think of this one, would you be happy to come crawl into this bed in the middle of the night to sleep with mama and dada?” The brunette asked as tiny hands wrapped around her neck, signifying she wanted a hug, leaving Rylan unsure of what she’d done to deserve such a cute family. Being a mom was still something she was grappling with, it wasn’t easy and she didn’t think she was very good at it, but in moments like this everything that stressed her about it melted away. She just wanted to drink in the time with her family. “Shall we tell dada to buy it?” She whispered, glancing over at Nate before shooting him a little wink along with her smile.

"You have to be honest with me. Really, really honest." Nate spoke seriously, staring up at the ceiling as he tried to get it all together to figure it all out. The wrong choice could lead to everything else falling apart, and he knew he had to get it right. They had to get it right. "If mama and dada got this bed, would you like it?" He finally turned to look at his two-year-old, lying on the bed next to him. The lights on the display floor were bright and almost uncomfortable, yet it was surprising that the toddler was still as energetic as she was. With a giggle, Savannah dug herself under the neatly made-up covers, and Nate followed her, despite the odd looks he knew he was bound to receive from the passers-by. It didn't matter, not when he could make his daughter happy. "Hey!" He grinned, catching up to Savannah under the covers as the little girl wiggled around, trying to get away from her father in a play-pretend manner. In a way, he could still argue that they were testing the bed, although Nate would also be the first to admit that he just wanted to make his daughter laugh. "Get back here before the tickle monster comes out!" It only made Savannah squeal as he caught onto her, pulling her close to himself and back from under the covers, the girl's laughter echoing through the floor. It only got louder as Nate tickled her for a moment or two before the two of them settled on the now-messy bed. "Shh, let's stay quiet! Or mama's gonna find us and tickle you even more!"

Nate was on set, it was a huge day for him considering it was his first shooting day so Rylan had refused to listen to his offer to take Savannah with him. Knowing it would just cause additional stress, and even though she had a photoshoot that day she just sent up a silent prayer the two year old would be sleepy enough to nap through most of it as she had been doing a lot recently. Tuckered out by the intensity of the move. Her prayers had not been answered.
Wearing an elegant wine coloured dress as she sat at a small time the model was trying to keep her composer even as her daughter used the space between he camera and her mother as a performance area come running track. Her apologies on arrival were doing nothing to stem the embarrassment Rylan felt as the clients got more and more frustrated by the goings on. “Savannah, honey please can you go and sit down, I brought your iPad if you want to watch Paw Patrol.” She tried again, a futile attempt that fell on deaf ears. Shit.
The gratitude she felt in her heart as a woman she’d met on arrive, Rylan was pretty sure her name was Aslan, waded in to distract the toddler. Her little eyes spotting the shiny make up cases like a magpie honing in on it’s trinkets. Running over to inspect what was going on - allowing her mother to take a small breath of relief. Attempting to catch the woman’s eye she smiled softly, mouthing the words thank you, before being able to return her full attention to the task at hand to finish up the shoot uninterrupted before crossing the room to check on the goings on with Aslan and Savannah. "You are....a lifesaver..." She expressed instantly as she got close enough to be heard.

This was the first time the Barak family was doing something like this. Of course they had hired someone to professionally take pictures of the vineyard and winery but there had never been any models, just simple customers who had signed a release form in return for a drink on the house. However Aslan's parents wanted to take their advertisement to the next level. They had taken the business from small town chic to something with more elegance so it was only appropriate they did the same with their advertising.
Aslan smiled as she watched the little girl run back and forth in front of the camera as the man attempted to snap a photo or two of her mother. The women had apologized when she had shown up with the two year old on her hip, she was new to the area and hadn't been able to find a sitter. Aslan didn't mind but it was clear that the child was making the task at hand slightly more difficult, a given because what child wanted to sit quietly in the back corner of a winery while the adults played 'dress up.'
She disappeared for a moment before returning a few minutes later with a princess dress and a 'beginners' makeup set, which were really just old brushes and empty lipstick casings that she had given her daughter one day after she had helped herself to mommies very expensive glosses and powders. "Savannah." she whispered trying to get the little girls attention without disturbing everyone who was hard at work.

The baby was screaming, kicking the back of her mother’s chair with her tiny little feet, entirely done with the day. All attempts to calm her down had failed, even the playing of baby shark which was Savannah’s current favourite childish tune. The flat tier on top of everything else just…great. Hitting the button to activate her hazards as she let her forehead drop onto the steering wheel the brunette let out a low groan, upbeat music and child screaming the soundtrack to the shit sandwich she’d found herself in.
Finally gathering herself she moved to where the little girl was having her tantrum, lifting her out of the car seat so she could at least make things a little quieter. Pressing a kiss to her temple as she rocked her back and forth in a bouncing motion, slowly slowly the volume coming down as she rested her head against her mom’s shoulder. The approaching man caused a suspicious look from the model which he seemed to pick up on, because one of the first things he did was reassure her that he wasn’t a creep though, that’s exactly what a creep would say. “Uh huh…” she just muttered as he came closer, just holding her baby tighter until she saw the card he was holding out, understanding washing over her. He could go from a threat to a saviour. “Oh shit, thank god, I was thinking I was going to have to work out how to change this on my own. With her attached to me it was hardly going to be easy.” A tired smile coming across her face as she shifted Savannah to her other hip. “I think I hit a pothole, it just fucking...popped all of a sudden.”

osiris had took every opportunity to put his business and name out there when he could. so naturally when he was driving and seen the car pulled over on the side of the road it felt like a business opportunity to him. the man had slowed up behind the car and put his hazard lights on, safety first, he always told himself. killing his engine he had undid his seatbelt and headed over to the drivers window where his intentions were to tap softly.
though when he had made it to the window he couldn't help but noticed the young woman and a small child in the car. which only worried him even more seeing where the two had been pulled over at. with a small furrow of the brow he shook his head and then leaned down a little to tap on the window. "everything okay?" was all he mused from the outside. "i'm not a creep-" iris started but then let out a soft laugh at the comment, he was certain it probably was something some creep would actually say. reading into his back pocket he pulled out his business card and pushed it against the closed window. "i own a shop not too far up the road, figured maybe you two were having a little trouble."

SPOTTED: Is that (RYLAN PRATT) that I see over there? You know they have quite the reputation of being the (THE QUICKSAND) around town. The (26) year old has been around these parts for (ONE WEEK) and within that timeframe has landed themselves a job as a/an (MODEL) while living in (SYCAMORE APARTMENTS) I overheard that they can be quite (UNPREDICTABLE) but their saving grace is that they are (CHARISMASTIC).  Rumor has it (SHE HIDES HOW BAD HER PILL ADDICTION IS FROM EVERYONE), and it’s just a matter of time before everyone knows.

Money bought you comfort, security, an education, designer clothes as well, but apparently it couldn’t buy you security inside your own mind. If she had to hear the words ‘what do you have to be sad about?” one more time the chances are Rylan Platt would go swinging for whoever’s mouth it had come out of because they were words she’d been hearing all her life. Born on the Upper East Side into a painfully wealthy socialite family had it not been medically impossible she’d have come out of her mother with a golden pacifier in her mouth. She sure as hell had one in it not long after.
Appearances being everything to Olivia and Kennedy Pratt so they naturally sent their daughter to the most prestigious schools, the best after school clubs, and had tutors to make sure she didn’t flunk out and embarrass the family. That was all good and well, but nothing really caught Rylan’s attention until she started playing piano as well as singing when she started high school - it gave her a freedom that she’d craved desperately longer than she’d even been aware herself. Plagued by insecurity her entire life her own mind had been a prison to her but when she closed her eyes to let the music carry her away there was a small rest from that fog.
Her depression had started to develop around the time she hit puberty, fuelled by body image issues that spilled over into other aspects of her life including her own feelings of self worth. Suddenly she would get into such negative self loathing mainframes she would spent days at a time in bed, hiding out from the world, sometimes crying and sometimes just laying there staring at the ceiling. Obviously her parents threw money at the problem, sending her to shrink after shrink who medicated her on and off, but nothing seemed to ever truly work enough to stop the depression from rearing its ugly head every so often. These days she is pretty fast and loose when it comes to taking her medication, as well as going to see her therapist. When she’s feeling good the woman is convinced she doesn’t need one, it’s only when that crippling depression hits her like a school bus that she is in a position where she needs someone to talk to. Only problem is that those are the times, sometimes weeks in succession, where she doesn’t get out of bed. Not particularly helpful when it comes to her career as a model for many high end brands and magazine spreads, the obvious choice of career for a girl plagued by insecurity. The industry was brutal, and more often than not she would end up lower than before in the wake of a shoot.
Not needing to get a ‘proper job’ thanks to the comfortable nest egg her parents passed on to her every month and the highly paid advertising campaigns she landed every couple of months as the face of big brands, she could afford to spend her time indulging in her passions. Writing her own music mainly, but also partying her face off. Now she could do it while making some extra cash on the side and her naïvety left her not thinking about the repercussions that she could face being part of such a dangerous group.
Rylan was with the same boyfriend for two years when he proposed to her at New Year, leading her to panic at the prospect of being tied to someone she … thought she loved for the rest of her life was terrifying. She’d been convinced they were made for each other for most their relationship but that had changed a few months earlier when she’d met his coworker and seen what love at first sight really was. The two of them ended up breaking up in the wake of the proposal to Rylan on New Year’s eve. Panicked by the level of commitment it involved she said no, literally running from the scene and into the arms of Nate Jones who she’d been with ever since.
Together for about a year when the couple fell pregnant they were terrified but ecstatic, Rylan not sure how the pregnancy would effect her modelling career but still wanting to keep the baby so the two of them could be a family. After all there had never been any secret about how much Nate wanted to be a dad. Sadly the first pregnancy ended in loss, as did the second, which threw the pair into a dark place - convinced a family wasn’t going to be on the cards for them. Rylan blaming her addiction even though she’d worked incredibly hard to get clean when she fell pregnant the first time - it lapsed significantly after the second loss. Their rainbow baby came in the form of Savannah Pratt who was born just under two years ago while the couple were still living in New York City. Rylan’s determination to stay with Nate regardless of everything had lead her parents to cut her off financially, after all a waiter as a husband and father to her child was hardly the image they wanted to project.
The couple struggled through the first couple of years of parenthood together, Rylan suffering from postpartum depression that she wouldn’t have come out the other side of if it wasn’t for Nate. Sadly it still drove here to self medicate in line with her old habits although not as badly, this is something she’s been keeping from Nate. Actually she’s been keeping it from everyone around her - trying her best to look like a responsible mother even if the role is still one that scares her. She loves her daughter more than life itself and both parents would do anything to make their little angel happy.
Still she was a vibrant young woman who loved to socialise, be out with friends, drink in the culture of New York City, and explore her own creativity through her music and keep up to date with everything fashion. Writing songs for and about friends, family, situations she got herself into, anything that sparked her inspiration. Everything around her. It was only when she was hit with her depression and insecurity that the girl changed into a shell of herself, it could be hard to watch according to people she had talked to about it in the past. The girl ia a sweetheart, but that didn’t mean she didn’t have her fair share of people who didn’t like her, often because she felt threatened by them so she would lash out before they got the chance to. Before they could tell her what she thought was the truth - that she wasn’t worthy of many of the things she had - she’d make sure they knew they weren’t either. It wasn’t a healthy way to communicate but it was entirely involuntary.
Moving to Juniper for what the couple thought was a short stint because of Nate’s role as a stuntman in a movie (Something he’d been training hard for) they were doing their best to make a new life for their little family even without the budget the two of them were used to. Splitting the parenting duties so both could still pursue their careers that didn’t stop Rylan from picking up a part time job in a coffee shop to help supplement their income when she wasn’t away on modelling jobs - especially since Nate’s new schedule meant she couldn’t leave town on a whim just to take a modelling job, needing to be there with Savannah.
Still plagued with the pressures of looking good in front of the camera after becoming a mother which overflowed into her eating habits, an addiction to party drugs that had developed into something far more serious, and her need to numb her feelings with alcohol, Rylan is certainly not an easy person to be around sometimes.
