Lessons Learnt
I’ve learnt many things in my life.
I’ve learnt that you never shoot a big calibre man with a small calibre bullet.
I’ve learnt that people who do not listen whilst you are talking are either ignorant or idiots, because nobody has ever learnt something by talking, only by listening.
Finally...
I’ve learnt that you cannot claim to be the bravest man in the world if you have not admitted that you have been scared before.

The Influencer
We all know there is so much stuff going on in the world, so much wrong doing and so much triumphs. So where do we stand in this world of ours? Are we the so-called "good guys"? Or are we the "Crooks"? Or maybe we are just the "extras" floating through life just trying to stay a float.
Sometimes I feel like an extra, but then I get my days that I feel that if I were not in this movie of life, would they miss me? I believe they would, because personally I feel that I am awesome, I so are you if you are reading whatever this is.
As a teacher myself I see so many kids trying so hard to fit in, in life. Changing who they are, just to be a part of the crowd. I have seen kids gone from hero to zero in months. Kids who forget everything mommy and daddy has taught them just to be a part of the "cool crowd"? I must be honest there are situations where learners' have changed for the better, kids who have gone from zero's to hero's. Yes, that can also happen! But those kids go on to make a good contribution to society...Let's talk about those who throw away their ambitions in life just to fit in for a few years.
As human beings we tend to understand some situations better when we see it as a story, so let me give you a story...As I mentioned before, I am a teacher, a high school teacher to be more precise. There was this boy that I had been teaching for two years, let's call him Johnny. Now Johnny was a boy who was doing pretty well in school, he had good grades, he was a very respectful young boy and he was a pretty good rugby player. But then Johnny met a influencer, let's call the influencer Matt. Matt was a boy who was all about being cool. Now for those who do not know what it means to be cool, it means you have no respect for teachers, getting good grades means you a nerd and playing sport takes up your time, you should rather go home and smoke and drink, or this is the definition of being cool for these two boys and the rest of there posy. So after being friends Matt for a few weeks, the cracks starting showing in Johnny's marks and his attitude. The attitude that he had became such a big problem that it started stinking, and I mean STINKIKING!! This influencer caused Johnny to be rude to his teachers', up until the point that he is being chased out of classes. He had a little spat with his rugby coach, and the coach chased him away and finally his grades are falling faster than the water flows down the Vic Falls. All of this, because you want to be part of someone's definition of being "cool".
If this is the effect of a influencer in a matter of months, what will the result be in a year, two years or even three years? The bigger question is how do we stop this friendship? Because many have tried to break-up this friendship and many have failed. Has this thing gone to far or is this the start of a movie that has a sad ending? Maybe not, maybe this is the start of a testimonial that will go global and save many others from a Matt in their world. Personally I enjoy a happy ending more than a sad ending...
Now I ask you, the reader, do you have a influencer in your life? Do you have a "friend" in your life who has effected you in ways that changes your behaviour or thoughts? Or are you the influencer? Yes, that is possible. Do you influence people in ways that causes their future's to change, and if you do, do you make them one of the many sad stories in society or are you one of those influencers that will be mentioned in a speech one day when this friend of yours is climbing the Forbes 100 list?
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see these things, all you have to do is sit-down and observe. All I am asking you is: stay yourself. You are made the way you are for a reason. Just as all houses differ, humans do to. Stick to your believes, stick to what you have been taught by those who care for you. The world needs a person like you in it, you are special, awesome and yes, you are cool in your own way! Just by reading this makes you even cooler in my opinion.
Thanks for being you, you are awesome. Catch you on the flip side.
