good morning come with me on a journey of indian history told through photos. i sort of started with postage stamps and got carried away, i believe the internet refers to this concept as a "rabbit hole" because i accidentally spammed my friends so i decided to spam tumblr instead

okay so turns out back when the british still ruled india before 1947 the currency used was an anna, youll see it denoted as the A, AS, or the P or PS etc - this was before the rupee and paisa came into use. nowadays even the paisa isnt a thing because inflation, we're looking at a stick of butter being 200 rupees, singular candies being like 5 rupees

some historical indian stamps - india was freed from british rule in 1947 ( 75 years of independence as of 2022 ) my aviation nerd brain wants you to know that plane is a lockheed constellation

a cool fact i found out recently is that apparently this image here has been around since the 1940s. indian passports TODAY have this image printed on them like wow u old

map of india as distributed by the british empire. back in the day india was the crown jewel of the british empire, they literally put a good chunk of their resources into making sure india wasnt taken from them. we used to be insanely rich as a country until these guys came along 💀

now, you ask, what in the world were the british doing in the USA distributing a map of india of all things ? you see, propaganda. a quick google search tells us the british government distributed stuff like this to manage public opinion of the british, especially during stuff like wars, and surprise ! they had an office in NYC. turns out this map may have just been part of that subtle propaganda, maybe given to schools and universities and newspapers to show off the british empire, promote their image, essentially just make themselves look good in the eyes of the american public.

so yeah that about concludes it.

The problem with trying to tell people "the more you hurry me, the longer this is going to take" is that an outside observer has no way to tell the difference between "I take any request to do something as a personal challenge to do the opposite out of spite, because I consider any expectation to accommodate your needs as a personal insult and beneath me uwu" and "the more pressure you put on me, the more stressed I am going to be, and the more anxious I am the more mistakes I will make, and I will have to go even slower in order to avoid them or keep trying to get it right over and over again so the only thing that makes the difference between us getting there in time or us both being late because I'm sitting on the floor crying is 100% your choice to either keep doing that or stop doing that."

welcome post !!

im bored. here's a welcome post

hi i like planes, ninjago, genshin impact, talking a lot, and eggs and i cant think of anything else right now but i like a lot of random useless things

my mood is either tired ( currently ) or really really excited and there's practically no in between.

everything is tagged with exactly one main tag and any necessary sub tags. i clean out my tumblr often so if stuff disappears didnt mean to offend ya.

main tags currently dont have an emoji attached to them but if you look closely at the pattern you can sort of tell what they are because well .. they show up a lot. however soon that'll be fixed.

all tags are included below for your convenience ( idk when i click it on my pc it automatically filters those tags for me on the account, i hope that works for yall too. if it doesnt .. sorry ? ) i have a lot of tags but they all fit into the 30 tag limit currently so if in the future they dont ill do the work to link all of it individually but until then you get that.

it is always a good idea to bring a well loved simple but practical artifact such as a wooden pencil, a more modern and convenient variation of the same that does not need sharpening known as a mechanical pencil, a ballpoint pen, or an elegant and smooth writing instrument such as a fountain pen on your travels. you never know when it will come in handy in a tight spot.

well you see, back in 1996 there was an american airlines flight 965, a boeing 757-223. it was trying to take off when the pilot who actually had this brain tumor nobody knew about yet ( i forgot how he passed his medical and im too lazy to check ) didnt notice one of his lights blinking and the copilot ? was of course too occupied with the checklist since one of the bulbs for the landing gear wasnt working. so as it turns out, the pilot putting all his focus into trying to drive the plane around and the copilot distracted it was a recipe for disaster. the plane actually started moving on its own and since the pilot was deaf and the copilot was 30% deaf and there was nobody else keeping the plane on a leash they didnt notice the plane moving into the wrong runway, it tripped over a car and summersaulted into the giant ravine that conveniently appeared right beside the - communication cable. its a communication cable that plugs into a jack on the outside of an airplane and connects directly to the pilots so ground crew can communicate with them for safety reasons. the reason he holds it like that is so the cable doesnt get caught in the wheel.
