ইউল্যাব ফেয়ার প্লে কাপের চ্যাম্পিয়ন স্ট্যামফোর্ড !

১২তম ইউল্যাব ফেয়ার প্লে কাপের ফাইনালে ইন্ডিপেন্ডেন্ট ইউনিভার্সিটি বাংলাদেশকে (আইইউবি) ১৯ রানে হারিয়ে স্ট্যামফোর্ড ইউনিভার্সিটি বাংলাদেশ কাপ জিতেছে। বৃহস্পতিবার মোহাম্মদপুরে অবস্থিত ইউল্যাবের স্থায়ী ক্যাম্পাসের নিজস্ব ক্রিকেট গ্রাউন্ড ফাইনালে মুখোমুখি হয় দল দুটি।

ফাইনালে সুশৃঙ্খল পারফরম্যান্সেকে সোয়ার করে ১২ তম আসরে দ্বিতীয়বারের মতো শিরোপা জিতেছে স্ট্যামফোর্ড, যা শেষ পর্যন্ত পেন্ডুলামের মতো দুলছিল। টস জিতে ব্যাট করতে নেমে করে স্ট্যামফোর্ড নিয়মিত বিরতিতে উইকেট হারায় কিন্তু শেষ পর্যন্ত তাদের নির্ধারিত ২০ ওভারে নয় উইকেট হারিয়ে ১৩৪ রানের পুঁজি পায় স্ট্যামফোর্ড। অধিনায়ক সাদ্দাম সামনে থেকে নেতৃত্ব দিয়ে ৩৫ বলে তিনটি চার ও দুটি ছক্কা হাকিয়ে ৪৩ রান করেন। যেখানে ওপেনার সাকিব মুরাদ এবং মিডল অর্ডার ব্যাটসম্যান লিটন চন্দ্র যথাক্রমে ২৬ ও ২১ রান সংগ্রহ করেন। সাকিবকে সাথে নিয়ে ৪৫ রানের জুটি গড়েন সাদ্দাম হোসেন, যা স্ট্যামফোর্ডের ব্যাটিংয়ের মঞ্চ তৈরি করে। ইন্ডিপেন্ডেন্টের ওমর মোজাহাদ এবং হিরু মিয়া নিজেদের মধ্যে পাঁচটি উইকেট ভাগাভাগি করে নিয়েছিলেন কিন্তু অন্যদিকে, হেরে যাওয়া ফাইনালিস্ট নিঃসন্দেহে স্ট্যামফোর্ডকে হুক বন্ধ করতে দেওয়ার জন্য আফসোস করবেন।

স্ট্যামফোর্ড ৫২/১ থেকে ৫৮/৪ এবং ১১৭/৫ থেকে১১৮/৪ পর্যন্ত বিপর্যস্ত হয়েছিলো কিন্তু ইন্ডিপেন্ডেন্ট তাদেরকে ধরাশায়ী করতে পারেনি, এইভাবে সুযোগটি হাতছাড়া করেছে।

যেমনটি ছিল, স্ট্যামফোর্ড, যারা তাদের ইনিংসের শেষে কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ রান তুলেছিল, যখন তারা বোলিং করতে এসেছিল তখন গতি বজায় রেখেছিল। যখন তারা নিজেদেরকে ৬/৩-এ খুঁজে পেয়েছিল এবং একটি ভয়ঙ্কর চাপের মুখোমুখি হয়েছিল এবং স্বাধীন ছন্দহীনতার মুখোমুখি হয়েছিল।

The history and the golden times of Bangladesh Football.

Bangladesh and Football was related even before Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan, it was Swadhin Bangla Football team which was established in and played 16 match this team create mainly because to create international awareness about war independence. Between 1970-1990 the local league football highly rated in Asia and was one the most prestigable league in South Asia. Bangladesh team was very highly rated in Asia before 2000.but it’s was club football which was very popular amongs the people of Bangladesh.

Team like Abahani, Mohammedan, Rahmatganj, Brothers Union and Rahmatganj were the notable team in Bangladesh Premier League. But rivalry between Abahani and Mohammedan was very intense during 1980-2000 the gallery use to be full of people where Abahani and Mahammedan fans use to gather during their but during but when Abahani and Mohammedan use to face each other the whole country divide into 2 group.

The Bangladesh league Standard was very high during 1970-2000 Notable players from Europe And South America use to be bought by Bangladeshi Club not only that our local players standard was also Very high in quality. Player like Salauddin And Monem Munna was there who played professional football in Hong Kong and India Respectively, but the likes of Sheikh Aslam, Rajani Kanta Barman,Kaiser Hamid,Aminul Haque was also very popular among the people of Bangladesh.

During the Golden times of Bangladesh football. The football team achieved many Trophies but the biggest Trophy was the fans, people was to come from all over the country to Dhaka just to watch the live football match in stadium. People use to rally all over Dhaka after the victory of their supporting team. It was a football crazy country.

Bangladesh also use to host Federation Cup which also use the top national cup. Several country from asia use to participate in this tournament. Bangladesh also saw great success in international football tournament like Aga Khan Gold Cup, President Gold Cup, Dana Cup and Gothia Cup. They have also achieved few trophies abroad. Though Bangladesh never able qualify in world cup or Asia come cup. Bangladesh biggest success came from south Asia level where they won SAFF Championship once and were gold medalists in South Asian Games twice.

People who use to follow football during the golden time considered themselves as very lucky. Some say they will never footballer like Salauddin,Monem Munna or Sheikh aslam again they such a quality player where highly valued in asia was very eye pleasing to watch. The packed gallery, team based rally, intense rivalry you will not see in Bangladesh now and also the quality of football degraded.

During the the golden time Bangladesh succeed in football in every way , if it maintained the pace and consistency like the way they did in 90’s pretty sure Bangladesh would be in the world cup participate country by know but they failed due to some reasons and I will write about it in my next Blog which is the “Current situation and downfall of Bangladesh Football” till then stay tunes. The current situation and downfall of Bangladesh Football

The football in Bangladesh started see the downfall right after 2000 but no action were taken therefore football gradually started to fall. And right know Bangladesh ranked 194 in football which is worst ever ranking for Bangladesh. Barely couple hundred people come to the stadium. Media doesn’t telecast all the match due to low TRP only some matches are telecasted occasionally. People lost their interest in football and shifted their interest to cricket.

There is many reason, but one of the main reason Bangladesh’s football governing committee BFF (Bangladesh Football federation) there mismanagement, lack of support, corruption and poor investment harmed football severely. They failed to host international and tournament regularly, failed to discover talent, failed to pay the players and etc. after 2000 BFF was total failure thus people turn away from the football shift their interest Cricket which is know the most famous sports in Bangladesh

After the retirement of Sheikh Aslam, Rajani Kanta Barman,Kaiser Hamid,Aminul Haque, Monem Munna and Salauddin. We were unable to produce player like them mainly because of the lack of investment in grass level therefore football failed to produce stars and without quality player it’s very difficult to attract audience in sports. From 1970-1990 people watched football because not only local star were making break through regularly but star player from Europe and South America also played in Bangladeshi League and they use to deliver quality football day in and out.

Many people often say it’s actually the success cricket which overshadowed football and eventually killed but you have to see in India were cricket is also the most popular but still football is doing well they improving, hosting international tournament, Producing Quality player and most importantly fans are coming to the stadium to watch football. Know you might think how India is improving despite being in similar situation? It because their governing committee All India Football Federation known as AIFF doing good job they investing their money in a proper plan and in proper way, which Bangladesh is unable to do so.

Though BFF took some initiative like hosting franchisee league and or hosting international tournament in a regular basis, which they also failed. Its now in the hand of Bangladesh government if they want Bangladesh football to improve or bring back the fans to stadium they change everything from root to the top every needs a change its known never because if don’t it know in a decade football will totally lost from Bangladesh.

In the bad time of Bangladesh football .Bangladesh women’s football team who great in football recently smashing any opponent they face and scoring goals for fun. But still they are respected as much as they should BFF is giving them poor busses cheap hotels to leave which is a big concern because if this thing continues to happen women football team will also fall apart.
