498/500 Bumpy Mars landscape… The third thing I learned from the 500 Meaningful Days project was “Love the mistakes”. There’s perception and reality. While we only tend to show everyone the best side of us, it’s the challenges that tend to define us the most. Presenting a mistake is something you don’t share lightly. But when you do, the reaction can be fascinating. One habit I have, is to go through really old pictures and drawings to see which mistakes I’ve made. Fascinating. 497/500 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder... The second thing I learned from the 500 Meaningful Days project was “Creating new things”. Remember the “Bottled Creativity” doodle? It took me 686 days to embrace the fact that you are the only person giving yourself creative boundaries. Clean and concise pictures and feeds are what I was aiming for at first. This left no room for doodles, unfinished sketches and digital art. I would go as far as hiding what I drew. Why? It’s imperfect and mostly quite personal. But art, no matter which form, is there to visualise what you internalise. It can trigger all sorts of thoughts or feelings - a great platform to connect. 😉 The day I promoted myself from photographer to artist was glorious. Since then I have been experimenting with Photoshop, Illustrator, pencil art, water colours and photography. I’ve been enjoying every minute of it! 496/500 When life gives you lemons… I started the 500 Meaningful Days project on the 20.04.2016 - Which is 765 days between then and today. And here I suddenly find myself counting down the last 5 days. The time factor is on of the things that made me reflect the most. I took a minimum of 500 days to think, reflect and acknowledge my surroundings. A long the way, I was asked by countless people what the sense, the mission, the purpose behind it was. I finally have the answers. One of them is the time factor. At the beginning, heck even in the middle of the project, time seemed like a huge chunk that stood between me and the 'end'. It was really demotivating, I wanted to stop countless times. But family and friends kept me going. Now suddenly time is scarce. And this is one of the lessons I took with me. Time is precious, appreciate every second of this construct! ❤️ The lamb was the first picture I took for this project. (Subconscious naivity?) For the people who followed me since day one, you might recognise some pictures that come afterwards. The last picture is a doodle I made today. More tomorrow.
