despite hoping that caspian spoke out of anger, the tears still stung in her eyes almost immediately. she knew that being half-vampire meant trouble here if they found out, but what she hadn't expected was caspian to feel the same way. "that's not true," she replied fiercely, almost as if she was trying to convince herself, too. moving over to where cas stood by the fireplace, annalise reached to grasp his arm slowly, tentatively. cautiously, as if he might react badly. she wouldn't blame him. "i would never hurt them... you know that." she hoped he did. "they can come to know that, too."

his heart ached. he didn’t know what to do. caspian shakes his head . ❝ i cannot keep your secret anymore, i told the wolves about you.❞ the wolf king says. they were asking too much questions. they were getting annoyed because their king wasn’t telling them that had been going on. he should have said it the day she got here. caspian then just then turned to see the fireplace. it was burning to keep the cold out.

this feeling of being left alone , and now he might get yelled at. ❝ the wolves are right. they are.❞ his words were harsh. anger, but it was something he didn’t like .

a soft touch pressed against their cheek, the pad of a warm thumb brushing a droplet of blood away.  it smeared against their skin and louis smiled, fangs exposed, as he brought it to his lips to lick it away. "i hadn't meant to be so messy with them..." he purred, voice soft and sweet like what you'd imagine poison to sound like if given a melody. his aim was to taunt, like Eden's serpent, silently begging for the rush only their terror would give him. show me fear. he sighed softly, a little petulantly, as if he hadn't wanted his kill to end so quickly. as always, his stomach was gnawing for more, and his eyes instinctively fell to the other's neck, watching the heartbeat thrum under the skin there. thinking about annalise when she finally realizes she's a lesbian and it's when she falls for her best friend of almost a year. the other was open and out as gay and was proud of it, and annalise learned a lot from her. while annalise had experience with men and women, it was never willingly and never because she wanted to, so annalise went the longest time feeling like she should just be labeling herself as "bisexual" because it was easier. because it was what she knew. but that's not what she wanted, and she finally learned from her best friend that it's okay to be specific in your preferences. it's okay to stray away from what she always knew and try being something different for a while.

so she did. she started with telling her best friend how she felt, and luckily, it was mutual. they were together for three years until they decided they wanted different things—and they parted ways as friends. to this day they still speak, they still visit, and they still hang out together like they used to—and the other is a witch, so they can be completely open with each other. she'll always be an important part of annalise's life considering she was the one that coaxed annalise out of her shell. annalise was twenty-six when she came out as a lesbian and her (then) girlfriend was there to cheer her the fuck on!! they had cake that night with friends and stayed up playing cheesy adult card games. it was an all-out sleepover-type night where they drank margaritas and shirley temples until they fell out (and remember annalise has to drink like three times the amount of alcohol to be affected) and that was another first for annalise, who had never had a sleepover before or laughed with others to carefree.

and speaking of new experiences... overall, before her mom died, when they lived the small-town life in michigan together, annalise had some of the best times of her life. she experienced a lot of firsts, new things, places and people. she got to experience genuine friendship, genuine love, and have the full, human life she never got to have before.
