whenever someone does something cool like shit on the bathroom floor or get blood all over a toilet, i have to close the bathroom down by blocking the doorway with a CLOSED sign.

this sign is big and bright. it says CLOSED in four languages and has a do not enter symbol. it completely blocks the doorway. the only way to enter is to look directly at the sign and either move it or climb over it.

almost every single time i shut down a bathroom so i can suit up and clean a biohazard, someone will enter the bathroom with a dead-eyed, slack-jawed expression and try to wordlessly walk past me to use a stall.

and every single time, i have to block their path and say, "this bathroom is closed. there is one directly down the hall, marked by signs. please leave," and they either try to argue that THEY specifically should be allowed to use this one, as if they are god's most special little guy, or express shock even though they, again, had to contend with the CLOSED sign to enter.

often, i am standing there in the middle of cleaning up bodily fluids having to firmly repeat myself. they always leave angry or confused.

I know the Reddit situation is extremely disheartening, but I wanted my fellow trans men to see this. In my many years of being in online trans spaces, I have never seen such an overwhelming outpouring of love towards trans men — and from people all across the trans spectrum.

I have a sincere feeling that we are going to come out of this with raised awareness towards transandrophobia and with more people vocally supporting the transman/masc community.

A trans man posting in r/trans and r/LGBT recently experienced blatant discrimination for attempting to spread awareness of trans masc struggles and experiences.

His post was deleted from both subs. r/trans mods told him to "quit bitching" and r/LGBT mods accused the trans masc community / their supporters of brigading.

The trans masc / trans man community on Reddit are experiencing some very broad backlash and more or less shoved out of the wider LGBT spaces on Reddit.

It's very easy for us all to be contained in our own online bubbles, so I thought it was worth sharing here since I know there's a thriving community of advocates against transandrophobia on this app.

The info OP shares is also worth knowing.

The problem with "transfem vs transmasc infighting" is that this isn't what's happening.

There is a group of variously gendered individuals who gather around the idea of man hating as praxis and take out their issues on trans men. This is often dressed as transfeminism, but it's not that. And out of 5 the most frequently occuring and annoying people from that side, two are cis and one is a trans man.

There is an opposing group that objects to the idea of separation of trans men from the rest of the trans community. This group also has members of different genders.

Who does it help to reframe this as some kind of a man vs woman war?

My cat passed away very recently, he was old and too many issues teamed up at once so we couldn’t do anything but make him happy and make it quick. He purred himself to sleep under my arms in the same position on the vets couch that we would hang out in together for years on my own couch. We were one yellow blob pressed together for the last time and I’m so grateful that we were able to be with each other for his last day.

I feel like he took a large part of me away when he left, but that’s okay because I gave it to him.

I don't think younger/newer users fully grasp the shit show that ace discourse was around 2014-17

It was so hostile that, to this day, discussions that begin to derail just enough can make me physically nauseous, some specific mockery trigger crying sessions years later. We lost most accounts with any sort of ace positivity. There was no information, no support, and all this damage was done predominantly by other queer people.

All this to say that you, however you identify yourself, should be engaging with aphobic comments the same way you do any hate. We don't sugarcoat or try to be comprehensive with people who are blatantly racist, homophobic or terfs, so why give it a pass just because it's coming from a queer person? I see how this tolerance goes and it's done enough damage as it is.

I see the radfems out there saying that every man who's ever been born is a psychopath who's constantly looking for an opportunity to commit a felony and then I remember this one time I was really struggling to get a shopping cart out of another shopping cart and a dude came over to help me, but he couldn't do it, and then another dude came over to help him, and then another came over because it was a challenge he wanted in on, and then I had 3 guys all tearing at a stuck shopping cart, and literally none of them even needed a cart.

And when they got it out, they fist pumped and I said thanks so much and one of them said "easy." And then they left.
