hot take but i don't think cas was ever jealous of anna. i think the emotions he was experiencing when he watched her kiss dean were like. fascination and guilt and a sort of unspecified undifferentiated !!. i think watching anna kiss dean was almost like kissing dean himself. he empathized with her and it put the idea of kissing dean in his head. i think cas has a very poor concept of the boundaries between himself and others, especially other angels, especially anna who he's used to being directly commanded by. i think seeing anna kiss dean was like... in cas' head it was processed as "angel kissing dean" which was then processed as "?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?cas kissing dean?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?" like it put ideas in his head. he wasn't jealous he was fascinated and guilty and maybe a little turned on because he was seeing himself in her place.

Some rational thoughts about The Prequel after initial shock

CMP is a baby baby baby production company that currently has done nothing

There is no way Renee Reiff who is loudly promoting the need to LGBTQ+ writers in Holywood would sign on to this baby production company from DC without some guarantee of quality LGBTQ+ content with representation at all levels of production

I imagine there will be a lack of LGBTQ+ rep in this prequel as it is set in the 60s/70s so I can only guess there will be more coming down the pipeline

CMP getting the rights to produce a spn prequel is massive. This could be a test for getting Team Free Will in future if they have been granted spn rights for this.

Jensen said right there in the article “When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story.” FIRST people, this is a man with a plan. 

His is still so invested in Dean “I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.” His motivation for this is literally that Dean would have wanted to know more about his parents. This is not a man who is done with Dean Winchester.

This is maybe tinhatting but after filming the ending we got, Jensen went and started his own production company and the first member of staff announced is Renee Reiff who has a history of doing lots of LGBTQ+ work. That doesn’t seem to be a coincidence. The man who held a silence for months, barely spoke about the finale but would wax lyrical about 15x18 at any opportunity. I can’t help but think Destiel and his hope for Destiel in some continuation helped power that decision.
