Can I be mean for a second?
ED recovery influencers are actually the most annoying in ED communities ever. Like they’re still competing in the sick olympics just weight restored at BEST.
They still need to constantly regurgitate their symptoms that they know other sick people find desirable to prove that they were sick enough. “I was cold all the time and I lost my period!” Oh give me a fucking break, we get it. Here’s your award for sickest ana ever. “I was in residential 9 times!” We get it. “Here’s a video of me crying over my bagel because I was SO sick!” We. Get. It.
Then when they repeatedly show pictures of their body when they were sickest knowing very well that the demographic who sees those videos and are also sick will 100% see it as desirable and not “scary.”
Or when they’re like 2 minutes into recovery and constantly b0dy ch3ck showing us their “recovered” body. Babes! I have news for you that you aren’t going to like.
Like, most of them are in quasi recovery and they’re comfortable being at that spot because they’re too scared to actually recover. And hey, I get it! Been there, done that. But I don’t think it’s really necessary or useful to be a “recovery influencer” and still go about posting common triggers while catering to a sick demographic under the guise of “recovery” when you’re not making nearly as much progress as you’re letting on to a vulnerable audience.

As someone with past orthorexic tendencies as well, it’s a no from me. I will have a glass of sugar syrup for breakfast and a bucket of fries for lunch if I please :3
Health is about more than calories and macros when it comes to recovering from eating disorders. It’s about self-compassion, contentment, and enjoyment. It’s about challenging beliefs that drain the life out of you.
If I happen to enjoy more “junk” food as I recover, so be it. It’s way better than whatever the fuck my eating disorder has been doing to my brain and body for the past 4 years.
I am doing amazing. I hope your day goes well anon and you start being kinder to yourself and others.
