Figure skating jumps are identified by the way the skater takes off the ice. Here are simple ways to tell them apart, using layman-friendly terms.
There are 6 different types of jumps (in order of base value): Toe loop (T), Salchow (S), Loop (Lo), Flip (F), Lutz (Lz), Axel (A).
Since Yuzuru rotates anti-clockwise in the air, these examples are for anti-clockwise jumps. For clock-wise jumpers, the left and right would reversed.
EDIT: The toe, lutz and flip can look confusingly similar. Just remember, for the toe, the skater rotates away from the foot on the ice and for the flip and lutz, the skater rotates towards the foot on the ice.

Yurabek Headcanons U Totally Wanted
- Otabek h a t e s social media so much and yet he follows Yuri on instagram and twitter because he’s been fascinated by this boy since /forever/ and he likes checking up on Yuri’s progress
- Its while flipping through Yuri’s insta/etc. that Otabek starts to notice that Yuri doesn’t seem to have any friends, really. And the kid’s fans are freaking crazy
- So when they finally meet again at the grand prix Otabek has freaking practiced his “be my friend” speech in the mirror and he’s so ready to help this kid out because Yuri deserves better
- Hence, the motorcycle rescue
- Otabek starts observing how people treat Yuri and he’s lowkey pissed because why the frick do people underestimate this kid?? Also why is Yuri treated like something fragile Yuri is strong AF
- Otabek totally goes off on the next person who is an asshole to his bae (its probably JJ lets be real)
- Yuri is blown away by all of this because he’s had to fight for himself for so long and WOW its really nice to have someone on his side, for once
- Otabek and Yuri have very similar backstories in terms of families depending on them and they end up staying up all night talking about their family and sharing pictures.
- Otabek is honestly Yuri’s first friend and Yuri can’t. shut. up. about him. He doesn’t even realize he’s doing it he’s just “did u know Otabek’s favorite color is blue? Did you know he started training when he was six- that’s so late!!! And yet he’s soooooo talented. Otabek tried piroshky last night and he said he rlly liked it!”

Writing Prompt 30 Day Challenge
Day 1 —Select a book at random in the room. Find a novel or short story, copy down the last sentence and use this line as the first line of your new story.
