Phoenix was having a newfound luck when it came to making friends, but not when it came to trying to make the moves on them. (I guess Charisma is a valuable skill after all.)

Phoenix: So you live in Brindleton Bay? That’s so weird, me too! Haha...ha. 

Simone: Well obviously, yes. We’re in your house right now...

Phoenix: OH RIGHT! Yes, I forgot about that. You’re just so cu-

Simone: Do you want to watch a movie?

Phoenix: Good idea, great idea.

After that turbulent conversation, the two sat down to watch Roaring Vice which stirred up some flirty confidence in Phoenix.

Phoenix: We should do this again sometime! Can I have your *she clears her throat* can I have your number?

Simone: Hmm. Yeah, okay. That would be fun! Hand over your phone, I’ll put it in.

Phoenix: Well, sir. Now that I’ve gotten you cornered, you can either surrender your King OR SURRENDER YOUR LIFE. 

Bjorn: Whoa whoa whoa there. Don’t forget that I may or may not have a few tricks up my sleeve!

Phoenix: Sounds like something a loser would say.

Phoenix and Bjorn shared a friendly laugh, laden in competitive motivation. 

Bjorn: Psssh, we’ll see about that. So what brings you to the park anyway?

Phoenix: I wanted to see what plants I could find around here. I consider myself to be an amateur farmer. 

Bjorn nodded in approval as he narrowly avoided his King getting stolen, and took one of Phoenix’s vulnerable Knights, leaving her pieces completely vulnerable for attack. 

Phoenix: Dammit. That was a good move. Anyway, I decided to start a game with you because...you kind of remind me of my dad. Or whatever memory I have left of him. 

Bjorn: I’m assuming your old man wasn’t around?

Phoenix: Nah...he left me and my mom to become an Archeologist in El Selvadorada. I hardly remember him. 

Bjorn: That guy sounds like an asshole. But I’m an even bigger one! CHECKMATE! 

Phoenix: Oh no...

Phoenix felt a little cooped up in Brindleton Bay, and wanted to explore more of what the countryside had to offer. Not only was she looking to expand her knowledge of the local flora and fauna, but she also was looking to make some new friends.

However, while she was enjoying all of treasures that nature had to offer, she noticed a stranger that looked like someone she once knew. 

Phoenix: Is this seat taken?

Bjorn: No, no. Please have a seat! Would you like to join me in a game of chess?

Phoenix: I would love that. I’m Phoenix Rose. And you are?

Bjorn: I’m Bjorn Bergson, it’s nice to meet you! 

Phoenix: Well Bjorn, I hope you like getting your ass beat in Chess. 

Bjorn: OH IT IS ON.

Once her lovely neighbors left, Phoenix had some time to herself. Her first day in the countryside wasn’t too bad after all. She couldn’t help but think to herself that everything would end up just fine. 

As she lay against the ground, she stargazed up on the approaching night sky, full of hope and determination. Tomorrow was going to be even better. 

The stars shone bright as if cheering her on; and as the sunset turned to dusk, Phoenix was whisked away by dreams of her bright future.

Phoenix chuckled nervously. 

Supriya: Oh, don’t worry. It’s not a problem at all. You have a lovely home, and your cooking skills weren’t too bad either. 

Phoenix: You’re too kind! I see that Toby has taken a liking to you, huh?

Supriya: He’s just the sweetest little thing! He’s so small and precious, totally different from my big fluffy boy back home. 

Phoenix: You’re more than welcome to visit Toby anytime! Bring your dog and we’ll make it a doggie date. You seem really passionate about animals, are you a veterinarian?

Supriya snorted softly before sneaking a glance at her husband, ensuring that he was immersed in the television. 

Supriya: I wish. My husband works full-time and between taking care of him, our two kids, our cat AND our dog...it’s just not possible. It’s fine, I don’t think I would be very good at it anyway. 

Phoenix: I think you should follow your dream. Who cares if your husband has to pick up some of the slack? What about you, Supriya? 

Supriya sighed for a moment, taking in the weight of her new neighbor’s words. Her eyes glanced for another moment back at her husband, and then to her watch. 

Supriya: The kids will be up from their naps anytime now. I think we should head out. It was lovely to meet you. Come over any time you want as well!

Phoenix: Likewise, neighbor.
