it's been a while since i made this post— due to the continuing deterioration of resources thanks to israel's blockades, Ahmad's family has raised their goal to cope with food, water, and medicine shortages. thank you to everyone who has helped so far. i talk to ahmad frequently, and he's forever grateful for your solidarity. even if you're unable to donate, sharing, or talking to him— or any of the palestinians who appeal to the rest of the world for help— via bluesky or whatsapp helps tremendously.

i know there's a lot of fearmongering on here about scammers, about "lies" ("if there's no food, why do they need money?" "gfm doesn't operate in gaza, how do they get money?" "their messages are copy-pasted, if they really needed help it would be more personal" "when they share personal details it overwhelms me" etc. type bullshit easily researched) and i don't have the capacity to dispel that for you right now— but it is simply a less than microscopic concern compared to the threat of the israeli occupation. these are real people dealing with very unfortunately real circumstances.

with the occupation continuing their devastating bombing campaign (as if they ever stopped!) there's also the real concern of being cut off from all contact with the world. i've been talking a lot with my friend and brother Ahmad, and on top of the other assistance his family of 9 (including his disabled parents and his brother's young children) desperately needs, he'd be incredibly grateful if you could help him raise $500 in order to keep his internet connection.

if you've been hearing less about gaza lately, it's because most of the journalists are dead. hassan eslayeh, who was murdered yesterday in his hospital bed by israel, had 351 videos archived on tiktokgenocide.com (an online archive of israeli atrocities i recommend you browse). this single journalist alone had contributed 351 videos. the same database lists that 252 journalists have been killed in gaza since october 7th. the cpj's archive of journalists killed is 178. they have a more conservative and less accurate estimate since they have less information on those media workers who work with local outlets.

regardless of the exact number, the number of journalists killed is so high that it is markedly affecting the footage and documentation we have coming out of gaza now. let me prove it to you: 70 people were killed today, May 14th 2025. did you know that?
