i don't know who needs to hear this, but guilt, self-hatred and shame are not sustainable sources of growth and healing. you can't hate yourself into feeling better, or being better. you can't repeatedly punish yourself for your flawed humanity and expect wholesome results.

a slightly annoying thing about Tumblr is:

1) people will ask the same question over and over no matter how many times you answer it or how obviously you place the answer, and

2) people will try to give you advice about everything (like if I'd just left this at number 1, I'd have 50 million comments about how I could make a FAQ or pin a post, which I'd then have to respond to with "I've done both, it doesn't work", but of course people wouldn't read my response and would continue making the same two suggestions over and over until I was forced to take my own life, which is why there is a number 2 as well as a number 1 here)

and also 3) the people who do these things are usually very nice people who I would be happy to be friends with if we met irl and who are just intending to be helpful, which means I can never actually be mad at them and have to instead direct my ire at the universe broadly
