Forest Lawn had always been a strange town. And all her life, Nina Martinez had felt haunted. First, the eerie things she'd see in the woods on family outings. Then, the unexpected death of her father. Now, constantly being thrown out into the public eye to be judged and treated like a doll for the sake of her mother's fashion business. For as long as she could remember, she walked along with a buzz in her ears. Quite literally. And then a new family suddenly moved into their neighborhood. The Masons, they were called. They seemed normal enough, but what truly had caught her eye was the eldest son, Jeffrey Mason. Tall, dark-eyed, mysterious... everything a teenage girl could dream of. It was just a stupid crush, that's what it was supposed to be. But every time he was near, anytime she saw him, the buzzing would stop for just a brief moment. So it had to mean something. It just had to, it was D E S T I N Y... right?

An Unhealthy Obsession is an AU of David Near's The Morgue Files Case 2: Jeff The Killer. Exploring the concept of what if Nina was had been thrown into the mix. I have always loved David Near's work, and have been a fan of his creepypasta content since 2014. And I absolutely LOVE TMF, it's so good! So I admit, this is very self-indulgent for myself. Nina would be HEAD OVER HEELS for Jeffrey Mason and no one else can tell me otherwise. Like come on. She was def into Twilight lol. TWs for this story include: toxic family dynamics, abuse, neglect, parentified siblings, bullying, issues with mental illness (specifically obsessive love disorder/OLD), toxic relationships, manipulation, victim blaming, etc.

I'm gonna be straight up, Nina is NOT innocent at all in this story. Is she a victim of circumstance? Yes. Can she be pitied? Yes. But some of the actions she takes in this are unjustified. Even downright mean-spirited at times. Just to give you a warning.
