the comedy of me needing to fix the arm is that it's. it's the arm that. the arm that got-- yeah. anyway the perspective is weird on it.

Another set of collages in my series— this time, two complementary collages. Same notebook full of nature quotes to render this moment within an enchanting, deeply emotional scene that, for me, set the tone of the interactions with the Qohlye.

haven't been able to finish the most recent collage that I worked on during the stream, but I hope to finish sometime between now and the last week of November. There have ALSO been some incredible moments during the last few episodes that I want to highlight, though, so I confess being torn between finish old and start new.

Serpent’s Watch

I started this in my sketchbook a couple days ago during a meeting and polished it a bit— definitely inspired by the gorgeous art in episode 5 by @ailustrarte ! Also featuring Sam and Evan sitting on the hill talking, surrounded by the large standing stones.

Having a thought about Evan’s physical form post-Qohlye... do you think the Qohlye’s magic restored Evan’s body to how he was immediately pre-explosion? Or, due to the tone of their conversation, is he somehow a post- “running it back” version of himself? Does he look like a version of himself that would have managed to avoid those damaging effects?

For example, is his arm exactly the way it was before, flaws and all? Or is it the way K hoped they could have made it, healed well and not wonky? Does he still have all the scars like his accidentally Smiley Stab and oddly-healed holdovers from grievous injuries? Or is the body he is in a smoothed-over, factory reset version of a 21 year-old Evan body?

Knowing that the terra-cotta effigy of Evan had the evidence of injury, yet living Evan was brought back whole, what do we think the magic of the Qohlye considers “restoration” to be?

Just thinking about it because I’m constantly thinking of new art pieces about the Pilot Program… wondered if there could be a seed here. I also don’t think we have evidence one way or the other yet, so this is just for fun! Be good to each other!

1:4 - “I don’t wanna see you meet violent ends, but you will absolutely discover those for yourself if you attempt to stop the march of progress.” | 2:4 - “‘The lightlessness in my eyes is a silent custodian walking the halls of her mind, turning the lights off one by one in a fraction of a second, like someone putting a house to bed to close up shop for the night... done.’ … It’s so quiet. That’s the scary part. There’s no scream or panic. Light leaves and she drops.”

To someone like Boudicca Philtrum, a wizard who has actively refused to know the electricity of the NAMP world, I could only envision “light leaves” as the snuffing out of one final candle. Around her silhouette are quotes of hers from the first season— including one about changing with the times, something she ultimately refused to do— and a quote by Gretel Ehrlich.
