I won’t be deleting my blogs, so if they’re not purged completely they’ll be more or less abandoned. I don’t appreciate tumblr’s business decision and respectively see that its target audience is no longer welcome on the platform. By the time the tos changes, I’ll be completely inactive.

I’m starting to see more and more evidence of backlash against Shiro being gay, some of it also being outside the fandom with angry straight men crying over it. I’m already mad enough that it’s even an issue, and I want to get some things off my chest so I can go back to sharing my unending support.

Look, I’ve never ever used phrases like male tears or straight tears in my entire life, but honestly if you’re gonna be hellbent on a fucking cartoon having a gay male character in the lineup of an already incredibly diverse cast (which, btw people like them are hellbent about that too), and especially if you have never watched the show and you just wanna jump on the “fuck diversity it’s not necessary!!” Bandwagon, you can hand me that cup. And you need to go outside. [psst, also I know you babies (especially the bandwagon ones) constantly argue “b-but it’s got nothing to do with the plot there’s no reason for this diversity!” But lemme tell you something. It does pertain to the plot. Very much so. So suck my dick.]

And on the other side of the spectrum, I see people complaining that the lgbtq representation given to them is not the one they wanted. Headcanons still exist, guys. And this show was never about ships in the first place. And I genuinely don’t think people in this camp care about the representation at all unless you convince me otherwise.

I don’t trust people that suddenly like Shiro when they’d been smearing him, calling him an abusive pedophile, and wanting him to die since season 1. I never will. And this is not about fictional ships, this is coming straight from someone who’s been smeared constant for their own identities. You don’t deserve to celebrate, and that’s my genuine opinion.

And another thing. Hell, everyone is fucking thirsty for Shiro. I am, you probably are, that person across the street might be too. Idk a single person that isn’t, regardless of sexual orientation. But now that he’s gay he’s all of a sudden less of a man or less like someone you’d see yourself being with? Fuck off with that. Why do you have to be that person? This is exactly the type of rhetoric that goes completely against the point of diverse representation in media.

Hopefully I’ve poured enough salt to last me a while. I love Shiro with my heart and soul, and I will fight with tooth and nail to defend his character. His story is incredibly important, and lots of people relate to him in a way that can be comforting and even therapeutic. You can be mad about any of this all you want, but you can do it in your own little corner far away from me so I don’t have to hear you.

ok i’ve been seeing this one argument that’s been pissing me off. “adam wanted to make the most of their time before shiro’s disease spiralled out of control”. that’s literally the STUPIDEST thing I’ve ever heard, because chronic illness and degenerative diseases are common in my family and when someone’s diagnosed, you don’t treat them like the clock’s started ticking. you still treat them with the same love and compassion AND if they get an opportunity to fulfill a dream that they might not be able to relive, then you support them even more and you don’t act selfish and try to get as much out of them before their “good years” go away. idc what situational context was, adam’s glaringly selfish in my eyes ESPECIALLY when he stands in contrast to someone who’s combed the universe and fought it time and again for shiro

What I’m wondering is what happened? Usually what happens is Shiro and Keith get confirmed to have a loving relationship and 12-24 hours later you klantis flood the place and start throwing tantrums about how nasty the show is (yet you continue to watch a show you apparently hate) and how nasty sheith shippers (even though its your group who sends death threats and harassment to staff and their kids, belittling their show and saying it sucks, and for some reason you believe that staff likes you)

post s6, antis seem to be stuck between Reaching For Their Lives, and Leaving The Fandom Indefinitely. to those in the latter group, pls leave faster. 

season 6 was objectively a good season: there was a good mix of lightheartedness while still allowing the plot to advance, we got project kuron resolution, we saw a character who hadn’t gotten much screentime for the past two seasons return, we saw a lot of our speculative theories come true, and some disproved. visually, it was just as stunning as other vld seasons if not more.

in particular kihyun ryu’s art was incredible

the scenery was gorgeous

and the artists of voltron got to play around a lot more with art styles than they normally would (i.e. s6e3, with the pixel animation during the DND game, and the manga-type art during shiro’s ‘backstory’)

so much love went into this season, on all levels, and it’s clear just by watching it. by leaving the fandom now you’re proving you were only ever here for the ship. you’re proving you don’t care about plot or development of other characters. that’s an awful reason to be in a fandom, especially when you go out of your way to harass others in it. so leave. this fandom will be much better for it.

i’m gonna be honest

antis are actually hurting more than helping. their main goal is to stop “pedophilia,” when they’re actually starting to normalize the word.

for instance, i came across an actual pedophile callout post, and i hesitated to block and report the said pedophile. i hesitated because i didn’t know if it was a callout post directed at a real pedophile, or simply a callout post directed at someone who ships something that the op of the callout post didn’t like.

i’ve come across many csa survivors who have said that they don’t like antis comparing their abuse to a ship. i’ve come across many csa survivors who ship these so-called pedophillic ships, and antis have actually had the audacity to say that those csa survivor’s abuse was false.
