And yeah yeah no one would be into the show if nothing explicit happened but works like that aren’t made solely for entertainment they’re about spreading an important theme and much needed enlightenment that is clearly amiss from the minds of society (“if someone has it worse then your problems aren’t real problems” every problem is a problem no matter how major or minor it may measure up to be according to others)
I hate how they have to make all the incidents so extreme and graphic becuase then everyone’s like ohh well who wouldn’t wanna kill themselves after that like no in the book its not about the weight of the situation but how every situation adds up and eventually the weight of everything total is just too much to bear the show takes away from that by dramatizing her experiences into some huge traumatic events like yes they were bad but it was the fact that it was one pretty bad thing after another that pushed her over the edge the show takes away from the true theme of the book that suicide might draw anyone not just those at the hands of a horrible tragedy its about realizing that people should be more aware of the impact their actions might have on others no matter how minor and irrelevant their actions may seem we should all be more aware of the fact that we don’t know what a person may have been through in the past and we don’t know whether our actions may be the final push for that person therefore we shouldn’t take that risk

“Oh! I know how to perfectly measure a students intelligence! Let’s design a test, say 3 hours and 45 minutes long, it will have to start pretty early let’s say 7:45 am. Okay, so they can write an essay in 25 minutes. How about 3 seperate math sections spread throughout, a total of 70 minutes. Yeah, that sounds good, no notes obviously, and the score they get will highly influence colleges. Hmm did we forget anything…? Oh yeah, it’s gotta cost $55, $100 if they register less than a month in advance, that way it will be really difficult to retake if for SOME reason it doesn’t go perfectly.” -the college board probably

Me: Okay, that sounds fake, but okay...

Okay but that idea that if your partner isn't happy with you like if you've done something wrong and you're supposed to get flowers or candy or their favorite treat and surprise them and they go awww and forgive you and its all over is false because a screw up is a screw up and a box of chocolates and an apology bear is not gonna make your partner feel better or at ease with your mistake only time will do that so don't think that that awww moment means its all good now
