Theory: Jax is Abel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hello, I came here to bring a theory that I've had since EP 3 of TADC, if you read the title you already know what it's about and I warn you that the text will be very long so if you don't go beyond the two lines, don't read it, now if you're a crazy person like me let's have fun with "mind-blowing" theories. Oh, by the way, I used Google Translate to write the text, as I'm not fluent in English, so there may be writing errors, but if it's 80% understandable, that's great.
I want to make it clear that I'm not making this theory because I want to "aggrandize" Jax or make him be "more than he is" in my opinion he is already the best written character in the show and he doesn't need that to be a good character (I say this because I know that some are against this type of theory when it comes to Jax).
It's more, to try to explain why Jax is so mysterious and has so many particularities in relation to the others (if it were Ragatha or Gangle, it would be theirs that I would make this theory) so I'm not doing this out of any "favoritism".
Also know that there are some arguments like "Gooseworx already said that Jax is not an NPC/AI" or "Bubble is Abel" and I'm going to argue here first that Gooseworx never said that Abel is an AI or he should be similar to Caine, after all the only proof of his possible existence is the C&A symbol and the ringmaster having the name Caine (which looks like Cain) whoever "dictated" these "rules" about Abel was the fandom, Gooseworx never even confirmed his existence in fact. Jax being Abel does not prevent him from being a human in first place and we also have to remember not to trust the creator 100% as she could have lied about Jax being an AI/NPC (I don't like this theory, but I'm not the creator and I can't say anything with 100% conviction) just to "throw off the fans" who would have an important plot too quickly.
Something similar happened in Steven Universe where the fandom quickly discovered. that Rose Quartz was Pink Diamond and the producers had to mislead the fans so they would stop believing in the theory. Regarding the issue of Bubble being Abel, I personally don't agree, because as I said, Abel's existence is "proven" by the C&A symbol, if Bubble were Abel the name would probably be C&B, as it would make more sense and another point is that Bubble doesn't seem to be a "character" in itself but rather an "extension of Caine".
Now without further ado I'm going to explain why for now (after all it's just a theory and I could be very wrong) I believe that Jax and Abel are the same person, I'm going to separate them into topics to make it easier to understand.
Jax and his "particularities":
Of all the characters, Jax is the character who has demonstrated the most "powers" and knowledge about the circus and even about the avatars (seen in EP 3) than any other in the show. Let's start with the fact that he has access to all the room keys (why would he have such access?), times when he defied the laws of physics, can "grab" objects without being noticed, has above-normal physical strength (seeing his ease in carrying Ragatha and Pomni) and abnormal speed (shown in the pilot when running from Kaufmo) and even knows what each avatar does when they're not breathing. All this may be "no big deal", but it is undeniably strange that only he apparently has these capabilities, that is, you can say that after Caine he is perhaps the most powerful, hence what is strange since supposedly Kinger and Ragatha came before him.
Pin Mystery, GLITCH Inn merch promotional video and Jax.001:
If you follow both TADC and GLITCH, you know that they tend to create Merch for the programs and one of the first was the pin that showed the characters' rooms (in fact, almost everyone's) yes, Jax's room is not shown which is already strange, but to make matters worse, nothing more than The Void appears behind the door of his room, although it has been little explained, we can understand that it is something beyond the circus that probably only the game's developers know about (since Caine says that "not even he knows what's there"), this could indicate that Jax is directly related to the development of the game "TADC"
and another interesting point in the pin is that the plate where his name is is broken (and this is only on his pin, the other plates are intact) I feel like they are "disputing" his name, in fact speaking of this it occurs again in EP 4 where all the characters have their names written on the badge, except for Jax who says "I don't Care" I know it could be a joke because he is "Squidward" from the EP, but it could also be the foreshadow of something "bigger" and you know what else can be bigger foreshadows?
The Jax.001 plate also seen in EP 4 which could indicate that Jax is nothing more than the first in the Circus (which would make perfect sense if he were Abel) and in the Merch commercial for the dolls of the GLITCH Inn version of the Jax characters before "freezing" like the others he says "I still haven't told them that…" can range from something silly like "I still haven't told them that I put pepper in the penguin's coffee" or "I still haven't told then that I love all them" or something revealing like "I still haven't told them that I'm Abel."
Commonalities between Jax and Caine:
Another very strange point about Jax is that he has several points in common with Caine, let's start with the most notable "breaking the fourth wall and speaking directly to the audience" (apart from Jax using nomenclatures such as "characters" in the pilot to refer to the others in the circus), Both are the characters who act most cartoonishly in the show and another was also shown in the pilot where both Jax and Caine create a hole in the floor where they take them to a place wherever they want in the case of Jax he went to hide together with Gangle and Kinger of Kaufmo and to top it off finding Zooble and in Caine's case to put Kaufmo with the others abstracted and do you think it stops there?
At the end of EP 2 Caine says he's going to "drink water, because it's important to stay hydrated" and in a Jax short version of GLITCH Inn he says the phrase "I forgot to drink water" I think it's a bit of a "coincidence" both characters say similar things "without context" and Gooseworx (creator of TADC) had created drawings of a supposed brother of Caine called "Paine" and an supoosed "evil twin sister" of Jax again "too much of a coincidence" only both of them won "siblings" perhaps a possible foreshadow of Jax and Caine being "brothers".
Jax seems to be much more casual and even "intimate" with Caine in relation to the others, such as him asking if Pomni was "an NPC or a new sucker" when Caine calls them "skibidi sigmas" Jax says to "never call us that again" or the most interesting of all in EP 4 when Jax and Zooble talk Zooble implies that she is afraid of Caine, as he could one day "not like them anymore and they might as well…" And Jax responds with something little "suspicious" he says "that's not his nature" he seemed very confident about it and especially how would he know that?
Gooseworx gave the least information about/ his epicenter EP being one of the last of the show:
Have you noticed that Jax is the character with the least information about him? Whether on the part of the drawing or on the part of the creator herself, who gave little information about him (even though he is her favorite character) unlike the others we have quite a lot of confirmations about things about their past (either through Gooseworx's Tumblr or through the episodes)
Jax we know almost nothing, we only know his age, that he likes spaghetti, that he chose his own name and Gangle, that he is "problematic and is like that due to a cocktail of bad situations and that he has several unresolved problems" but his hobbies, likes what he was like before the circus different from the others Gooseworx didn't reveal much about him, in fact there is a whole thing about keeping Jax as a "mystery" for some reason.
Of course it could just be a big joke like "they think he's mysterious, but he's just an insecure guy who has nothing special" or maybe it's because she can't show more about him yet (since it could even end up somehow revealing the possibility that Jax isn't what we think he is) and the fact that your EP is only the 6th and even Gooseworx states that from this EP the "storm" doesn't help much, after all, what's the reason for your epicenter EP being at the end and apparently it will be a "problematic" EP if it weren't for it to possibly have an importance for the lore?
I've seen similar plots in other shows:
This is more personal to me, so if you want to ignore this part feel free, although I think it's interesting to talk about it, as a lover of drawings and theories, one thing I've already learned is if we have a character whose existence is somewhat confirmed, but some small hints that may suggest that this being could exist and we have a character who is mysterious and we know little about his past, generally they will be the same character or it's totally related to that "character whose existence is debatable", I've seen this in Steven Universe (Rose Quartz and Pink Diamond), Gravity Falls (Stanley and Stanford) and The Owl House (Bellos and the "human" who ended up in the magical world). So I can say that I'm already an "expert" with this type of plot.
I know now you're wondering if Jax is Abel, so why don't Kinger, Ragatha and Caine mention anything about that fact? I have some speculations for this:
1 - Something happened and all the characters (including Jax) lost their memories of Abel, in this case not even Jax would know that he is Abel and he would discover this in EP 6.
2- Jax/Abel erased or altered everyone's memories of Abel, making everyone believe he died, preferring to be a "character" than a host for some reason that would be explained better in EP 6.
3- Caine for some reason (again explained in EP 6 or later) erased the memories of Jax/Abel and the other "players" at the time, with him being the only person who knows Abel's true whereabouts and hides this secret from Jax.
Well that's it, I know it's long text and probably almost no one will read it, but it was something that had been inside me for a long time and I wanted to get it out, just making it clear for the last time that it's a THEORY and EP 5 could simply come and destroy it with this theory with everything, but until then I'll keep that thought.
