I gotta be real with you- I dont think Sam and Dean hitting each other, or offering themselves up for a "retribution" feel better blow off some steam hit is that big of a deal.

Dean didn't just die, he went to hell. His soul descended. In life he had absolutely no faith, no religion.

But Sam marked his grave with a cross.

There's no name, no date, no adornment. It looks like a piece of old fence and a branch, it's not there for beauty. Its surely not there as a reminder, there's no way you could ever forget where you dug your brother's grave.

Is it a promise? Or hope? That somehow Sam will be able to save him? Get strong enough, powerful enough, frightening enough that he can finally get somebody to make a deal, or just walk through hell and find him himself?

Sam has faith. Is he pleading with God for mercy?

Or does he just not want Dean to be forgotten? For someone, sometime to know, even if they don't know who this is, that someone was buried here, and that they were loved?
