Genuine question, what happened to Echo Zane?

Because as far as we know he's still in the lighthouse, but there's a problem with that. After Nya merged with the sea Jay went back to the lighthouse and went a little insane in Crystallized (I would go insane too) theres no way Echo wouldn't have talked or interacted with Jay in that Year, especially since skybound was reversed, meaning Jay would be his first human interaction since Dr. Julian. you also can't tell me Jay never checked in that room. Does that imply that Echo deactivated? Did he breake beyond repair?

Also here's a little acnolagemend of the original plan of the writers to make him Mr. E, would have loved that, understand why they didn't

But still, what happened to him? We'll probably never find out
