Life Lessons
Everyday that I’ve been here, I’ve learned something new either about myself, life, or the world and I’ve come to these conclusions!
1. Self love is IMPORTANT- If you don’t love yourself you will never know what love is suppose to look like for you, and you won’t know how to reciprocate it! To add, there are days where you won’t receive love like you want it or need it... hell you might not receive it at all so through every adversity that you face you MUST love yourself along the way!
2. Simple living holds more value than a wealthy life ever could- I never thought I lived a life of “privilege” but after starting this minimalistic journey I definitely have lived a privilege life by some standards... but guess what... I’m so much happier living without!
3. Complaints without solutions is a waste of time- Everyone is entitled to a good vent session every now and again but at the end of that little rant... what will you do about it? Boss up or Cry!
4. Say what you need to say- Residual energy tends to fester up when things go unsaid... at least that’s the case for me! I’ve always been the person to internalize so that I don’t lose my temper but I’ve learned that keeping it in is no better... so what do you do? For me I’ve noticed that walking away and accessing how I feel before I speak is the most helpful! This is the time to get your thoughts, words, and actions all on one accord in the most respectful and adult-like way! I know it’s easier said than done but effort is a start!
5. If you never expect you can never be disappointed- placing expectations on people can be a set up for a let down! People may have the best intentions when it comes to you but their actions won’t always say the same thing so leave room for human error, have a plan B, and don’t hold a grudges.
6. DON’T BE PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE- Many people like to tackle their problems from a not so direct position but that does nothing for your problems and only antagonizes self!
7. I’m only human- It’s okay to feel and it’s okay to fail... don’t put so much pressure on yourself to the point that you break, and more importantly don’t allow people to apply their views, thoughts, and opinions on how you should walk, talk, and live! You’re enough and you don’t have to change, fix, or adjust yourself to fit ANYONE else as long as you are happy with self... to hell with those little people who feel the need to exert their comments on something that has nothing to do with them.
8. You don’t have to be on all the time- Being something to someone all day and everyday can be exhausting... With that being said, it’s okay to not be what someone else needs so that you can be who you need to be for you!
9. Be open-minded- there are tons of cultures and ways people live and view the world don’t close yourself off to only one way of thinking. When I say this I don’t mean that you have to change your beliefs, just be in a place where you can try to understand what someone else sees!
10. Treat yourself- My personal quote is “If you pay your bills, you deserve to chill” don’t stress yourself out with all of life’s tasks and not do something nice for yourself. You deserve a nice meal, a drink, a new pair of shoes, a nice vacation, a massage and so damn Peace and quite!! Take the time you need and treat yourself nice!!!
I hope this has helped someone as much as it’s helped me!

My Beautiful Samoa!!
PSA I’m terrible at blogging, so bare with me.
It’s surreal to think that I’ve been living out of the country for over a month now... and I must admit that it’s one of the hardest things that I’ve ever done, but once you get past the scorching heat, the bugs that literally plague your life, and not having the “comforts” of home it’s really not that bad. The plus side is my life is a post card!
(NO MY LIFE IS LITERALLY A POST CARD)

Before I got settled into my village I thought it was strange how people would just stare at me, or how when I walked around people would follow me, or how I’d randomly get asked “are you happy?”... but I now know that Samoans are just really big on respect and want to do all they can to make people feel happy and welcomed. Samoans are some of the funniest, friendly, and curious people you’ll ever meet (so get that Samoan up before you come visit) and although they live a simple life they take great pride in their communities and have taught me so much about love, family, and faith in such a short time.

My family here is LITERALLY the best and treat me really well... so well that I’ve been deemed “spoiled pisikoa” by some of my group members (their just jealous jkjk). My family consists of my mother Puna (Who literally a saint), my brother Sula (Who is a jack of all trades), my sister-in-law Sa (Who is the hardest working mom I’ve ever met), my brother Puamo (Who is the happiest man alive... he always has a smile), my sister Lou (Who is hilarious and also a great mom), my sister Faith (Who is incredible smart... she’s gonna be a lawyer one day), and 11 nephews and nieces who are my favorites because they are the goofiest children ever lol! I love them all so much and I’m so glad that God allowed me to cross paths with them!

Since I can remember, I’ve ALWAYS wanted to be apart of the Peace Corps, and now that I’m here I’ve realized it’s the hardest job I’ve ever signed up for, but it’s so worth it and I couldn’t be more fulfilled doing it. Truth be told, there are so many great aspects I could share about being here, but the best part about this experience is the 15 other smart, talented, and beautiful people who I get to do these next 2 years with! We are such a strange group of people who love dark humor, great music, awesome hashtags, and lots of ice cream! I really don’t know how they put up with all my loud and ratchet ways but they do and I’m so grateful for my government issued homies... they really are the best!

All in all my time here in Samoa thus far has been one interesting journey to say the least and although their will be ups & down... I can do nothing but appreciate the duality of it all! Thank you for an awesome month Samoa, I can’t wait to see what happens next!!!
