SUNDAY SURPRISE

Over these last few weeks, we've been incredibly excited to share the world that we've been building with Gracefully Cursed. So much so that we're hyped beyond belief to get things rolling and even more characters welcomed into the fold!

With that said, we have a little Sunday Surprise in store for everyone, and that is that we will be opening up our Discord a day early!!

Wrath and Wreckage

Located in Reno, Nevada the fourth Franchise location is a sprawling club known as Wrath and Wreckage.

Tucked into the desert just beyond Reno's city limits is a warehouse that once housed stores of silver, the metal that had made Reno famous and was once used to store munitions during World War Two. Off the main highway, on an unpaved road the path to the nightclub is more of a test than it is to gain entry. There are no outside markings that would set it apart from any other dilapidated structure rusting out in the desert, but if you get close enough to reach its doors and the parking lot beyond it will become clear that this establishment is not abandoned but constantly alive with activity. An oasis of violence and sin, Wrath and Wreckage has anything a wandering soul could want, a bar that's always stocked and always staffed no matter the hour, a rage room for the gamblers of the little big city to come and take out their losses and for the night time crowd, raves legendary in their swarms of bodies pulsing with the music, and an active fight club that draws plenty of eager betters. The door is always open, but the rules are strict and if they are not followed patrons have been tossed out into the elements before and will continue to be.

Human Week • TAKEOVER

To wrap up our Human Week the time has come to focus on another one of our Franchise locations and that one being Wrath and Wreckage! During our buzz events on our Discord next week we will focus on the hub of all of the Franchise locations known as The Sanctuary! But today is all about Reno!

Human Canons • Covened Witches

Neha Quinnel • 43 Years Old • Quinnel Coven Head Suggested Face Claim is Indra Varma | 10 Points

The daughter of legacy from magic and money, Neha is the current holder of power for her family and coven. Her family fled to the United States after the British Raj’s power collapsed, they are the new players into the scheme of covens that have ruled over North America, and Neha could care less. She’s currently making waves by being vehemently against the Franchise, and has turned and given her services to Dimos and the familia aut mors, breaking an unspoken rule amongst covens in North America. She yearns for more power and station, and the first step for that is to weave her little lies to help get the Franchise taken down.

Keshav Quinnel • 32 Years Old • Quinnel Coven Member Suggested Face Claim is Rahul Kohli | 10 Points

Keshav is Neha’s youngest brother and unfortunately the loudest voice against most of her ideals on power and fame. She calls him her father’s son and although that’s meant as an insult he doesn’t take it as one. His father was a wise man that could play the long game that Neha doesn’t have the patience for. He’s content to play the part of loyal brother, putting out any fires that Neha may start, while charming his way into the good graces of the other covens living within North America.

Izan Ramos • 40 Years Old • Los Muertos Coven Member Suggested Face Claim is Oscar Isaac | 10 Points

Posing as a cartel, Los Muertos have carved a name for themselves by the sweat and blood of their enemies. In truth, Los Muertos is a benevolent coven of various magically inclined humans from all across Central and South America, working to find a place for runaways and the oppressed by giving them a home. Izan is not afraid to tell the world what he is, or what he’s doing, most don’t believe him and he’s fine with being seen as a strange humanitarian working to try and make the world better for the humans that live in it.

Human Week • Day 6!

Today we wrap up our Human canon list and in turn the canon list that will be available on site when we open! As we get increasingly closer to the date when our Discord will be opening on 2.27 we would love to say how excited we are to be opening!! When our Discord opens we will also be opening up our site for everyone to tour and to register and begin the character creation journey so that our final buzz events on Discord will be even more fun!!

Human Canons • Witches with No Coven

On Gracefully Cursed, magic is a skill that some humans are naturally gifted with. It takes years of skill and knowledge for the average witch to be able to wield a spell, but that doesn't mean that there are those that can use magic without the use of ritual. These two canons below are a taste of the power these non-convened witches hold.

Elsy Roy • 25 Years Old • The Wraith Suggested Face Claim is Julie Garner | 10 Points

Elsy is a mystery even to the other magically inclined humans in the world. One day she wasn’t there and the next she was. She’s nearly as powerful as Neha and can stand against Izan even in the height of his wrath. Elsy is a wraith, a witch with a rare gift of necromancy, and for that she’s been disowned by the coven she was once a part of. She intends instead to make her own coven and wants her voice to be heard by the other witches no matter what.

Peter Friend • 47 Years Old • The Prophet Suggested Face Claim is Benedict Cumberbatch | 10 Points

From a young age, Peter has claimed to know the knowledge of heaven. His parents took it as a sign of mental illness, even in the wake of the Revelation and stuck him into a home for the mentally disturbed. Inside of that home, Peter found his love for scripture, when he reads the word of God he feels at peace, when the home was dissolved by the state Peter became a self-proclaimed hermit, living in the mountains and coming down only a few days out of the year to preach what he’s learned.

Human Canons • The Resistance

Standing firm against the encroaching lawlessness that is appearing across the country in the wake of the Immortals influence is a group known as The Human Resistance. For many, the Resistance has a reputation of being a rebel group against law and order, but that's just the propaganda that the Immortals want people to repeat. The truth is that next to the FBI and only small pockets of local city police the Resistance is the only thing standing between Humanity and the blood lust of the Immortals. Below are the canons for the Human Resistance!

Michael Scott • 50 Years Old • Leader of the Human Resistance Face Claim is Idris Elba | Played by Kikito

As one of the de facto leaders of the Resistance, there is a quiet compassion and wisdom behind those eyes. He is seen as something similar to a general: strict, efficient and calculating. Many speculate that he is former military. As it stands, much of his past remains a secret, and he has gone great lengths to keep any from finding out who he truly is. If they knew his true identity, those that loyally follow him might not ever see him in the same light again. Michael has amassed a variety of members, coming from different walks of life.

Ben Ferrell • 40 Years Old • Resistance Second in Command Face Claim is Jon Bernthal | Played by Phancy

Ben owes his life to the Resistance, and not just out of principle. Cornered and nearly murdered by a group of rabid wolves, Ben was saved by a small guerilla force of humans with shotguns and a couple of pistols. He rose up the ranks by proving himself capable and unafraid to run into any sort of trouble, with his loyalty unbroken to keeping humanity safe and stable through this post-Revelation world. He’s loyal to Michael to a fault, and is always the first to take the initiative and move on any mission given out, always joking about taking the grunt work, but he likes it, the violence calls to him.

Olivia Wall • 23 Years Old • Resistance Recruiter Suggested Face Claim is Zendaya | 5 Points

Oliva has lived a life of fear since she was a young girl. Her family lived just beyond the influence of Jacky Herpin’s boys and when people started disappearing her family had to prepare for the worst. She saw the Revelation for what it was, a mask of peace over the face of feral truth. She found the Resistance before she could become cattle and has been working with them ever since. She acts as the recruiter, the one to go into the cities and search for people like her, too afraid to act, too afraid to move or see the truth of it all. She’s the main point of contact for the Gravetenders, because unlike most of the Resistance she doesn’t see the qualms in pitting wolf against wolf, vamp against vamp.

Kai Burke • 34 Years Old • Resistance Member Suggested Face Claim is Eloide Yung | 5 Points

Every good resistance needs a foot soldier, and Kai is happy to fill that spot. An ex-cop, Kai has seen the sort of bureaucratic bullshit that the immortals have been pulling to get their way and she was forced to leave the force because she wanted to stand up to it. She often is seen around Ben, as she’s one of his go to recruits when he has to go out on a particularly violent mission. Kai is not without her vices, however, and she keeps the secret clutched close to her chest that she goes often enough to the Marigold Tea House that she’s a regular.

Sloane Kidrick • 36 Years Old • Undercover FBI Operative and Resistance Member Face Claim is Leslie Ann-Brandt | Played by Kikito

Unlike fellow member Kai who gave up a career in law enforcement, Sloane saw an opportunity to combat the immortal’s bureaucratic bullshit from within. For this difference of opinion and Sloane’s obligations as an FBI agent, many view her as wishy-washy and unreliable. But Michael keeps her around because she provides vital information and her ability to utilize her badge to gain access to what the Resistance would normally find difficult to obtain. She is tactful and unafraid to cross enemy lines with only a sidearm and badge for protection.

The Timeline

On Gracefully Cursed, our world is pretty much the same with the addition of the Immortal species of course! The point in history where the timeline diverges is called 'The Revelation'. As a reminder, The Revelation in our site lore is when the Immortals revealed themselves to humanity for reasons that humanity associates with the atomic bombs that were used by the United States during WWII. The timeline below covers all major world events from The Revelation up to the current site time of January 2022.

AUGUST 6TH, 1945

The first atomic bomb is dropped and successfully detonated on Hiroshima, Japan. Horrors the like of which have never been seen unfold, changing the face of war forever. In the dust that settles, the first immortal makes themselves known to the Japanese Commanding General and informs them of another attack. It is not believed.

AUGUST 9TH, 1945

The second atomic bomb is dropped and detonated on Nagasaki, Japan. Devastated and with the after effects of both terrible weapons still unfolding, the Japanese Emperor Hirohito heard the pleas from the Immortal that stepped forward three days prior, they advise surrender.

Meanwhile halfway across the world in the broken wreckage of Berlin, several Immortals make themselves known to the Russian and Allied command, demanding to speak to the heads of their respective countries to prevent any further catastrophic events like the terror still unfolding in Japan.

SEPTEMBER 2ND, 1945

Aboard the battleship, USS Missouri, the Japanese Empire officially surrenders, ending the last open conflict of World War Two. There are a handful of Immortals on both sides to see both sides maintain peace.

OCTOBER 31ST 1945

In broadcasts made simultaneously throughout the world, by different Immortals of different species and backgrounds come out of their hiding. They cite the atomic detonations that ravaged Japan as being cause for them to reveal themselves, the power of the atom a power no human should harness into a weapon.

Some countries look on the new knowledge with fear, but in countries torn apart by the recent war the Immortals are seen as guides and sages to help move the world into a time of peace.

In the United States, Immortals instantly have a place of respect and power. With many hailed as humanitarian and focused on the betterment of the world. Groups arise to try and push the influence of religious groups hail the Immortals as monsters but that group is quickly suppressed. The ease and speed with which those groups are silenced are brought up often in court cases post Revelation as the danger of letting Immortals into politics, but for the most part this instance is not brought up.

1946 - 1948

Tensions between the United States and The Soviet Union rise. The Soviet Union is one of the few countries in the world that is openly against any Immortal involvement/inclusion in their country. In direct opposition to the agreement of peace, the Soviet Union attempts to massacre the Immortals in place to see a peaceful reconstruction of Germany, after a brief yet tense conflict, the assassination of Josef Stalin ends that conflict abruptly. Its widely rumored that the Immortals within the Soviet Union killed Stalin, installed a puppet in his place and rule behind the human man.

Unsealed documents from the time have all but confirmed this.

JUNE 25TH, 1950-JULY 18TH 1951

In a bid to control and retain the whole of the Korean peninsula and fueled by clashes between the North and the South, war breaks out. The conflict that breaks out throws the whole world back into war, but not on the same scale. Its the first conflict that is openly influenced by Immortal involvement, which sees the brief yet bloody conflict end a little more than a year after it started.

Following the tales of malicious treatment of civilians done by the Immortal (and mortal) soldiers in the United States army, a bill was passed that barred the recruitment of Immortals into the Armed forces. It was a wide success across the worldwide media, but off the record all Immortals were moved to special divisions.

1953

Even after the resolved Bill banning Immortals from serving in the military, a renewed push to see all Immortals removed from places of power or influence. This caused a huge uproar throughout the Untied States, with multiple protests that Immortal friendly backers would call the 'new Witchhunts'. Spokesmen in Hollywood stood up to the pressure from non-Immortal friendly groups and put out pictures in support of all Immortals. The tide was turned when a prominent senator's son was rescued from human kidnappers by a Werewolf police officer.

The tension rising out of the Witchhunts prompts the FBI to found what comes to be known as 'Division X', a branch of the Bureau meant to deal specifically with issues concerning Immortals, and to study them and find potential ways to combat them if need be.

1960

Running alongside a progressive presidential candidate in John F. Kennedy, the first vampire senator was elected from California, this marks the beginning of the Vampire Elector Party.

NOVEMBER 22ND, 1963

In a move executed by what some would blame on Immortals, but others would blame on Humans against the young president's policies of increased friendliness towards Immortals, John F. Kennedy was gunned down while on a parade through Dallas, Texas. A gunman was arrested, but he was found dead in his cell before a trial could ever be conducted.

Many conspiracy theorists today still stand by the fact that JFK was actually assassinated by a thought defunct group of werewolves called the Gravetenders.

MARCH 1965-MARCH 1973

In March of 1965, the United States enters the growing and increasingly savage conflict in Vietnam. Motivated by intelligence information and a grab to try and lessen the power and influence of communism, the whole conflict was a disaster for the United States. Protests erupt across the country revolving both Immortal and Human that stood against war and called for peace. The United States withdraws the last troops in March of 1973.

The Sanctuary opens in Minneapolis in 1965.

Wrath and Wreckage opens in Reno in 1968.

1974-1980

The wake of the Civil Rights movement and the continued push for equality, saw the rise of more Immortal groups that mimicked that structure. While society has come to tentatively accept vampires and werewolves there's a renewed rise in religious outcry and that creates a Satanic Panic. Groups either cling to their beliefs and cling to religious values, or they embrace the Immortals and the alternative lifestyle they represent. After the ritualistic sacrifice of a werewolf done by a church in Montana, the hyper religious movement ends in lawsuits and disgrace.

Viral opens its first club in Orland, Florida in 1974.

The Mausoleum opens in Baltimore, Maryland in 1980.

1985-1990

Where the United States may have made peace with its Immortal residents, the same peace can not be said to be unified throughout the world. Multiple groups in the Middle East spring up out of a desire to regain control of their countries, feeling that the United States has manipulated Immortals into taking positions of power in their respective countries. Immortals are openly executed and extremist regimes take control of several countries, threatening the United States' supply on oil and pressure from pro-Immortal groups, the United States enters into conflict.

AUGUST 7TH, 1990-JANUARY 17TH, 1991

The conflict is violent and devastating both for public opinion in the United States on war in general, but also in terms of routing out the anti-Immortal groups. The war ends with a tentative peace signed between all countries involved.

After the war there was an investigation brought up into the potential involvement of Immortal strike teams on the ground. Once more, the investigation found no instances of wrong-doing.

1992-1999

Following the Gulf War, Immortals of all shapes and sizes begin to take over industry, both entertainment and technological. Law Enforcement in rural areas becomes non existent, leaving room for rogue Immortals and Human criminals to take control of small towns and sometimes small cities. The FBI takes a larger role in maintaining a semblance of control in these lawless areas, relying on members of a group becoming known as the 'Resistance' to help keep the peace. Propaganda begins to paint the Resistance as a terrorist organization.

The Marigold Tea House opens in early 1992 in Astoria, Oregon.

SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2001

The World Trade Center attack is the greatest loss of life on American soil from any terrorist attack. The cause is tied to anti-Immortal groups still operating in the Middle East, it sparks a quick response that sees the group that had taken responsibility for the attack eliminated.

2002-2019

The United States becomes a powerhouse thanks to the involvement of the Immortals in industry and government. On the surface, there's nothing wrong, but people have begun to see the cracks shine through. For the most part there is a tentative peace between Humans and Immortals, but there is a growing tension in smaller cities and cities outside of Franchise influence.

Human Week • Day 4

Today will feature even more of our Human canons as well as going over some more lore for the site. Since Gracefully Cursed is set in a world that's not too far removed from our own just with the addition of the Immortals, the timeline covers some major differences to help with character creation and immersion.

Human Canons • Franchise and Werewolf Allies

Robin Rios • 28 Years Old • Lounge Singer at The Sanctuary Suggested Face Claim is Rita Ora | 5 Points

Lounge singer and burlesque performer, Robin Rios is the headlining act at the Sanctuary every weekend. She often travels to the other clubs within the Franchise, but finds the most freedom at the Sanctuary. She loves the fame and the fortune the chance to perform has afforded her and will not hesitate to answer the call made by anyone of the Franchise before being booked elsewhere. She’s obsessed with the owner of the Baltimore club, can’t seem to look away when they enter a room, and she’s trying to make it so that her main performances take place there.

Jude Wynn • 33 Years Old • Franchise Runaway Suggested Face Claim is Oliver Jackson Cohen | 5 Points

There are only so many deals a man can make before it breaks his soul. Jude used to be a high roller, a man rich off his own merits, but he tossed it away by chasing the dream of being in the same crowd and light as those that can wine and dine nightly at the Sanctuary. He made a deal with the Owner that gave him a pass for life, at the cost of all of his wealth. He’s made deals with The Owner ever since, until one day he woke up in an alley and decided he wanted to do something more with his life than waste it in a club. He’s seen what the Sanctuary really is, and he’s afraid to go back now that he’s sober. Most that listen long enough to what he has to say to hear his ‘theory’ on what the Sanctuary is, roll their eyes and walk the other way, hoping that he can find a home in the Resistance. Unless the Franchise finds him first.

Jon Abiko • 38 Years Old • FBI Agent and Jacky Herpin Contact Suggested Face Claim is Andrew Koji | 5 Points

Abiko is a man of many means. As a field agent of the FBI, he has served for roughly a decade and established himself as an intelligent and capable individual. A longtime partner of Sloane Kidrick, she considers him to be a close confidant. What isn't known to many is that Jon has found his pockets being lined with the profits of immortal depravity. Their most recent cases have focused on trying to stop the illegal sale of human flesh centered around Jacky Herpin's gang down south. It is in this that Jon has brokered a deal. He tips the Herpin Boys off and distracts the FBI with false leads and in exchange he is compensated rather well. A schemer and master manipulator, he is also a deadly combatant. Recently has advised that Sloane be sent to investigate Leon Birch's resort on the west coast to keep her from discovering the mole and plans on unravelling what the Resistance has built up against his immortal friends.

Character Creation: Connections

One of the guidelines that we are looking forward to seeing in use for our players to deepen connections and plots between characters is a tenet we are calling 'Character Connections'. Character Connections is a requirement for all characters to have. There are 3 spots to be filled out in the application - and in the first live look at what our site will look like:

Each Character Connection should be at least 3-4 sentences long and dive into how that character sees or interacts with the connection that is listed. This requirement is meant to help make plotting easier for characters (like our wonderful humans) that might not be in the same species or faction! Use the Character Connections to highlight characters that your character would interact with, treat it like a mini interest check when looking for relationships or members of family or factions, but most importantly use it as a chance to dive into how your character views others on site! As the characters on our site grow, these connections can be a mix of canon characters and original characters!

Human Week • Day 3

The humans on Gracefully Cursed have the potential to change the world in many ways. They could either help prolong the inevitable or speed it up, they could stand side by side with some of the most powerful immortals, or they could try and fight them no matter the cost.

Yesterday we focused on the Vampire Allies, today we will feature the cannons that are aligned with The Franchise and Werewolves.

Today we will also go over some more rules, like our Character Connection rule that's put in place to make every character feel like a canon (even OCs!).

Human Canons • Vampire Allies

Whether drawn to the promise of power and prestige that the Vampires offered, or merely a part of the Vampire underling network known as 'familiars', many humans of Gracefully Cursed have chosen to align themselves with the dominant Immortals. Humans that have chosen to align themselves with Vampires either want to become a Vampire one day (usually by proving themselves worthy), or they wish to be close to power to elevate their own status. Individuals with dreams of power are ambitious to a fault and being among old and ancient vampires can be dangerous to one's health...

Charlie Jacobs • 21 Years Old • Familiar of Eclipse's End Suggested Face Claim is Finn Wolfhard | 5 Points

Wide eyed and enraptured by the wonders of what being a vampire means, Charlie found work as a familiar for the Eclipse’s End coven much to the anger of his family. He works at the foundation center that acts as the coven’s educational center and museum. He’s in love with the idea of being a vampire and hopes to catch the eye of one of the coven members and join their ranks. He’s willing to prove himself no matter what.

Carol Horne • 38 Years Old • Familiar of familia aut mors Suggested Face Claim is Alia Shawkat | 5 Points

An artistic soul, Carol found her home in the art gallery run by Adalgisa and has worked for her ever since. She doesn’t mind doing what is asked of her, she enjoys her time in the limelight that comes with being a familiar, she even is a frequent lover of the ancient vampire. She hopes that her time to be turned is coming soon, but the fact that she’s growing old doesn’t make her sense of loyalty waver in the least.

Elliot Carter • 36 Years Old • Vampire Ally Suggested Face Claim is Eddie Redmayne | 5 Points

The opponent in the running for the same senate seat that Lucas Green is currently campaigning for, Elliot in the public eye is against allowing vampires to take government seats, but behind the scenes he’s a vampire ally that’s making a scene to ensure that Lucas gets the vote. Obsessive and driven by an unhealthy love of his opponent, Elliot doesn’t see himself becoming a vampire, but he believes he’s earned a spot at their side.

Human Week • Day 2!

Today marks ONE WEEK to go until our Discord officially opens and the true fun can begin. We are incredibly excited to breathe life into our site and can't wait to see what characters will be brought forward as we traverse the edge of the end of the world.

Today we will be featuring some of the Human canons, and unlike previous weeks where we featured the factions separately this week when we focus on canons, the factions will also be highlighted to give some character creation ideas along the way.

The Ultimate Survivors | Humanity

Humanity's origins, even with the knowledge of the Revelation and progressive science, are still debated. There are people that cling to Christianity's picture of Human development, and they have even figured out ways to work in the immortals and how they work in the grand scheme of that particular reason. No matter what is believed, the truth is that humanity is the great innovator, the builder and the thinker and if it wasn't for humanity, the world wouldn't be what it currently is.

Most of the immortals were once human, and even though there are a handful of immortals that have seen great civilizations rise and fall, there are none that can explain the human heart. Even the pagans, the only immortals that can trace their lineage to a time beyond humans, go to great lengths to indenture and indoctrinate humans to their cause, often at great expense.

Humans come in every shape and size imaginable, and if not persecuting each other for resources or religious purposes, humans very often persecute each other based upon the pigmentation of their skin. Even in the wake of the Revelation, knowing that the bogeyman and other more intimidating monsters live and walk among them, this persecution still happens.

The reception of the immortals has varied around the world, from acceptance to rebellion, to cohabitation to condemnation; the opinion of the immortals varies from person to person.

As a Human on Gracefully Cursed, the greatest asset afforded to these characters is choice. The choice to stand alongside the immortals and try to live as if everything is normal, the choice to try and gain purchase with the immortals and maybe become an immortal yourself one day, or the choice to rebel.

This choice is fluid, and may be changed as you grow and play your character. For instance, a character that once was indentured to one of the vampire covens runs and joins the resistance as a way to hide, and although may try and convince the resistance that they are in for the end goal they are only out for themselves.

Remember that in comparison to the immortals, a Human's life is short, a blink of time. This choice is the rock that Humans throw into the ocean of time, hoping to see the ripples grow into great waves of influence one day.

There are a few humans in the world that were born with magical abilities ripped right from fairy tales. There’s no firm understanding where these powers come from, and each coven looks at their gift differently. Their powers are tied to ritual and elements, and for a witch to cast a spell it can take a great deal of energy, some have worked around this and made bargains with the ancient ones of the world, calling them their patron saints. On Gracefully Cursed there are a limited number of magically inclined humans allowed on site at one time.
