Just a small thing that I find interesting (this is on mobile so apologies for how it might not sound coherent):
Bors was one of the knights of the round, along with Bedivere and I believe Gawain(?), who was reportedly constantly going back and forth between King Arthur and the Romans to try and get the Romans to kindly back off. On one of these trips Bors ended up with a bunch of injured knights and was helping tend their wounds when they were attacked by Romans. The knights were killed and Bors was taken captive. When the news reached Gawain, he was extremely pissed off by it and charged into the Roman camp? Territory? The Romans’ place to rescue Bors.
On his own.
That’s some true friendship right there I would say.

"They say that the best blaze burns brightest, when circumstances are at their worst." (From Gawain)
Howl’s Moving Castle starters
“I’m afraid I cannot say that I have heard such a saying, Sir Gawain.”
If anything, Bors would guess that Gawain had made it up on the spot. His fellow Knight of the Round had always been excellent with words when it counted. Though, did this count as a situation where such a thing was necessary? That was something to think about. Later, maybe.
Bors sighed faintly, resting his chin on his palm as he gave some thought to Gawain’s words. The best blaze, hm? A soft, short, laugh slipped past his lips before he could help it. If anything, that described Gawain himself! How many times had he seen his friend shine brighter than anyone, like the very sun that powered him?
“...Still, such a saying fits you, I would say. Always shining like a beacon of light in dark times.”

Howl's Moving Castle {Sentence Starters}
"I'd appreciate it if you wouldn't torment my friend."
"They say that the best blaze burns brightest, when circumstances are at their worst."
"I feel terrible, like there's a weight on my chest."
"Your hair looks just like starlight. It's beautiful."
"I have this weird feeling you're going to leave. Tell me what's going on! Please."
"I specifically ordered you not to get carried away!"
"A heart's a heavy burden."
"Yeah, but no-one really believes that. Come on, let's be honest."
"I just organized things. Nothing's ruined."
"Lets run! Don't fight them, ____!"
"There you are sweetheart, sorry I'm late."
"You sabotaged me! Look! Look at what you've done to my hair!"
"I saw him do this once before when a girl dumped him!"
"Sorry, I've had enough of running away. Now I've got something I want to protect. It's you."
"I give up. I see no point in living if I can't be beautiful."
"Here's another curse for you - may all your bacon burn."
"Well, the nice thing about being old is you've got nothing much to lose."
"It looks like your true love is in love with someone else!"
"Whatever you don't want me to clean, better hide it now!"
"I know I can be of help to you, even though I'm not pretty and all I'm good at is cleaning."
"Why'd you make me come here if you were coming yourself?"
"Knowing you'd be there gave me the courage to show up."
"Don't be alarmed, but I'm being followed. Act normal."
"It's so strange. I've never felt so peaceful before."
"So that did happen. It wasn't a dream."
"Sorry, it looks like you're involved."

//I’ll apologize in advancefor how rambly this is buuuut-
It’s clear throughout the Grail Quest that Bors sees his participation as a way to earn forgiveness from God for his oath of chastity being broken. Even if it was broken against his will.
However it’s...pretty obvious thanks to the many moments of direct divine intervention that God was never truly punishing him at any point. The tests of faith were even filled with divine guidance so Bors only would have “failed” them if he decided he no longer sought forgiveness.
And even then it wouldn’t have truly been a failure. Not really. Not in my opinion. To me the Grail Quest for Bors is a quest for forgiveness, yes, but not divine forgiveness.
It’s a quest for Bors to learn to forgive himself more than anything. Does he fail? Does he succeed? It’s hard to tell. In the end Bors reached the Grail, returned to Camelot, and then left Camelot to return to his homeland. He took in his son from the events with Claire and named the boy his heir and loved him dearly.
Perhaps in a way, he did succeed in learning to not blame himself so entirely.

Bors was fluent in both French and English, both the spoken and written forms of both. However he has a definite preference for French even if he primarily spoke English around his fellow Knights of the Round. When talking to Lancelot or Lyonell, however, he nearly always spoke only in French unless there was a need for others around them to understand.

A few noteworthy things about Bors that I’ll expand on at a later date:
1. Bors was known more for being a kindhearted, loyal, and peaceful man than a swordsman. Though that’s not to say he wasn’t able to hold his own in battle as he was a Knight of the Round.
2. Bors is a devout Catholic, however due to his upbringing he has no disdain or anything besides respect for both magic and those of other religions/beliefs.
3. Bors was known for having a distinctive scar on his forehead.
4. Bors and Guinevere seemed to mutually dislike each other from the moment he came to Camelot, though there was no apparent reason why. Despite this, he still argued against her execution during the “trial” for Guinevere.
