Hi. I’m back, after quite sometime.
Just to tell you what happened last Tuesday, it would maybe be desribed in just one word. “Fulfilling”.
Why? Maybe because we were satisfied with the document we got from our beloved professor. I am pretty sure that will be a big help for our journal project. Of course, thank you to the authors, the ECE 5, and to Sir Arboleda. That will help me and my partner a lot on the construction of our journal about coffee.
The folllowing weeks, maybe, the journal will soon be finished. And for sure, with so much joy and happiness, I will be sharing it to you guys. So tune in for my next blogs.

Weeks had passed. And there were so many happenings, in the environment and inside the campus.
It was Tuesday again. And we are really excited to meet our Tuesday classes for it has been, I guess I can say a little long time maybe, that we haven’t been doing our Tuesday routines. Let’s proceed. So, we were there on the hallway waiting for our professor and for our room.
Then, after a few minutes, off we go and went in front of the PCs to be ready for an activity. But... Oh oh. Before that, we were asked to report our assignments on an example research that has an application of image processing. Mine was about thermal image registration. I am already done with the reporting. During the reporting, I am a little nervous that I will be mental-blocked and I won’t be able to say everything I need to about my research. I discussed a bit of the intro so that everyone in the class will have the idea of what I am saying in front, the problems in the research that the authors were trying to solve, the method they did to solve it, the findings or the results of their proposed method and the conclusion of the paper.
Image registration is a feature of the Matlab application that helps a person to process an image and know the physical characteristics of the object in the image, but of course there are still factors that can affect the result of the image processing. Some of these are the brightness, shadow, contrast and of course, the camera used to capture the image.
Half of the time was used for the reporting. And as our professor, Engr. Arboleda said, we will continue the reporting some other time, maybe the following week. And half of it was used for an activity. The name I remember about that is the “Iris”. We were assigned to follow the steps in the video, passed on by Engr. Arboleda, and perform it in the Matlab application. The goal of the activity, as for me, is to determine the accuracy of the processing done.
Also, during the class, Engr. Arboleda introduced to us about the Coffee Congress, an event, obviously, about coffees. He invited us to create a journal about coffee beans and anything where image processing can be applied. I, with my partner Missy, decided to create a title on our abstact that should be passed on Saturday, October 28, “Pattern Recognition of Coffee Beans using Image Registration”. And right now, we are doing our job for the major activity told.
Bye for now. I need to do my part on our major activity. See you on my next blog. Babyeeee!

Wooooow. Just wow for what just happened. It has been a week of sports competition and some other more, but of course, as engineering, specifically ECEs, still we are busy with studies and everything under it. But just like what was said by our professor, I do believe that after all this, we will come out as legends. And this is the reason why I am motivated and why I help my classmates and friends be motivated and not to stop what we have started.

It’s been a while. Hey there! How’s your journey been doing? Mine? It’s still under construction and maybe I’m halfway there.
We were told not to come to class for, ofcourse, there are no classes. And it’s a chance to do some schoolworks. Well, with this announcement, we were given an activity: to be passed on the next meeting.
Pending: Research Reporting and Activity on signal processing.

Hey there. We’re still on a long road in becoming a legend. Remeber the quotaton I mentioned on my last blog from our professor? That’s what I’m saying.
So, here we are again. Tuesday, September 19, RESEARCH DAAAAAY!
We were all given a chance to finalize and recheck our researches and pass it a week after this one. So, our job is to fix it and to make everything is okay. And we all know that this is for our grades.
Well, I need to check my refences, the citations, the format itself, and a bunch of all the journals used. Maybe that will be enough to get a good grade I deserve. Thank you Sir Arboleda in advance. Byeeee.
Tune in for more updates.
This is Denisse San Diego, waving goodbye.

Journal gaming
Well, obviously, no Tuesday classes again. That means we have more time to review and do a lot of school work. One of these ‘schoolwork’ is the journal we were assigned to do since the first day of our meeting.
Basically, this journal is really not easy to do and it requires a lot of time and effort. But as Engr. Arboleda said “Pumasok kang weakling... Lalabas kang legend.” And this quoted words are really deep penetrating. And swear, promise, ‘pangako’, I won’t really forget this saying. It’s like though we came from nothing, we came from absolutely zero, but when you accept the challenge and focus on your goal, you’ll probably be aiming highand you’ll probably be thankful and grateful.
So, here we are still trying to edit and fix the journals we made until the best that we can. We used Mendeley for the citations but the problem is that we used the Vancouver style instead of using the IEEE format. Therefore, that’s one of those we need to fix. I think, I also need to check my references and see if they are really good journals. Engr. also told us to use brackets instead of parentheses. And so much more.
It looks like we have so many things to check and correct to get a good grade for this and to show Engr. Arboleda that we are on the way on becoming a legend. Power for this! I am also thankful that the submission is extended up until next week, so still I can breathe even for a few seconds[just kidding].
We are halfway there and we’ll make it. Power, and more power!

Good day readers! How’s your day been doing?
So, I have been thinking on how to make this blog more crowd-attracting. Well, I guess, sooner or later, I will be an improved blogger and it would be a pleasure to tell the readers the excitements, activities, lessons, and so much more on our Digital Signal Processing class.
Days for this first school semester have been passing and my stories and blogs about our journey in DSP is getting larger and larger in numbers. This time, I am now feeling a part of a soul of an ECE. Thanks to the guidance from Engr. Arboleda.
This week’s journey on DSP was so “WOWwing”. We were taught on how image processing works, using of course the MATLAB application.
First of all, let me take you to our classroom. It was Tuesday morning. Of course, as always, I have to get up from bed, fix myself, and go to school neat and tidy with brain as my “baon”. As I came there on DIT building, I checked on the time and “Yes! I’m not that late.” We were on the hallway, waiting for our professor and starting our day with stories of smiles. A few minutes later, there came Engr. Arboleda. He opened the room and inside we went, turned on our PCs and the MATLAB, of course.
We were all assigned to type, complete, and see for ourselves the results of today’s programming codes. Though the code combinations are too long and that we should spend time on completing it, the results were enjoyable. As I said earlier, it is about image processing. With the code we have, the one Engr. Arboleda gave, we can transform images into black and white, then fill holes with color, put labels on each point of the image, name it the label, and to get the area, perimeter, roundness, and the diameter of each objects in the image.
We used an image of coffee beans as an example. We were happy to see what is happening during image processing. And surely, it will be a good help for our future studies, including the thesis.
Aside from that, Engr. Arboleda gave us an idea on how to get protected articles, journals, or even research papers from the net using a site. As a student, it will be a big big help for us.
Before we left the room, we were given homework. Want to know what it is? Then, you should wait for my next blog. Byeeeee.

Guys and gals, hey there! Maybe this time, you'll be guessing my blig for this week. Rainfalls have been all around. Maybe because it is the month of rainy weathers and Christmas is coming. Well, here we go. I just want to recall. I mentioned in my last blog that last week's class was suapended due to heavy rainfalls. As I woke up in the morning (August 29), I felt missing Tuesday classes- 2 laboratories and 2 lectures. I, then rushed to the bathroom. Fixed myself up and went to school with a smile on my face, looking forward for the day. Oh. I forgot to mention. The dy before Tuesday, Engr. Arboleda sent us online a copy of what we'll be doing today. He told us to provide a copy for we will be having an activity. And guess what, I enjoyed it. So, here it is. Holding our copies/notes, we all look for our seats and opened the computer unit. Our lesson is all about operations on sequences. Engr. Arboleda introduced it to us and then we started trying it on our own pcs. We have signal addition, signal multiplication, scaling, shifting, and folding. We tried this one by one and while doing it, we were figuring out what is happening to the program. Engr. Arboleda also explained to us the manual way of doing these opertions. I won't forgot the terms sigadd, sigmult, sigshift, and sigfold. These are the baics and te files we msebto perform activities. After understanding the flow of what is happening on what did, we were all assigned to solve for these: Given x1[n] and x2[n], solve for the following: 1.) y1[n]=x1[n] + x2[n] 2.) y2[n]=x1[n] • x2[n] 3.) y2[4n] 4.) y1[n/3] We used sigadd(for #1), sigmult(for #2), and scaling(for both #s3 and 4). We performed it on the matlab application. Wrote it on ansheet of paper and passed it to our professor. After that, class is dismissed. We went out smilling for there is another knowledge gained.

3rd time around. Hi everyone. Looks like the weather has not been doing so fine these past few days, right? Storm signals has been continuously coming. Well, obviously, people are expecting this kind of season already. And Ber months are actually coming. It was on the 22nd of August. The night before that day, it was raining nonstop in Cavite and some areas in the Philippines. Parents have been waiting for suspension of classes because they are afraid for their child/children. So, here it goes. I woke up early in the morning and turned on all sources of news (facebook, twitter, and of course, the television). Me and my family members were looking for suspension of classes. Maybe, "Kuya Gov" released his inner concern for everyone. I looked outside the window. It was raining cats and dogs. But wait. He suspended. Sadly... just upto senior highschool students. I checked it. It was true. I also saw many comments, tweets, and the likes of college students complaining on why did he not included us. Really, Gov., are we waterproof people? Just kidding. It was just frustrating in our parts that it seems like he's not thinking for our sake. Off I went to school while still, it was raining hard. Umbrella's up. Shoes are wet. Skin is almost wet and frustration is still there. As I reached DIT, students are on their phones, still waiting for announcements. After sometime, wahhhh. Classes are suspended. Why?! Why?! Okay, enough with the drama. Although classes have been suspended, we decided to stay to finish some of our schoolworks. But still, I informed my parents about that so that they won't worry about me. Hours past. Rain won't stop. Cold night. But tomorrow will be a bright one. Hope so.

Back again. Oh. I forgot to tell something about me (the blogger). I am Denisse Mikaela Lugo San Diego, 18 (oh no, 19 to be correct. Today is my birthdaaaaay 🎂). I'm from San Francisco, General Trias City, Cavite and currently enjoying my tough ECE life. Let's do this. 7:00 am --- ECEN70 (DSP) I was walking fast from Gate 1 to make sure I won't be late for class. When I got there, "whooh", I told myself. I was catching my breath with sweat on my skin (ehem, but still, I'm fresh as new). I saw my classmates still waiting for the class. Then, waited for a few minutes, tadaaa, the door of our room opened. Obviously, the mighty Engr. Arboleda was already there, too. NEW DAY, NEW LEARNINGS. He introduced the application Matlab. MATLAB --- Signal Processing is essential for data science up to real-time embedded systems. Matlab make it easy to use signal processing techniques to explore and analyze time-series data, and provide a unified workflow for the development of embedded systems and streaming applications. With Matlab, we can acquire, measure, and analyze signals from many sources and so much thing to do. For more information, you can visit https://www.mathworks.com/products/matlab.html. I have also heard that this application will be very useful for us, ECE students for future uses. We explored the application. Did some exercises. And tried some programming up until 10am. We've got an assignment. 40 problems, to be passed online(softcopy) and personally(hardcopy) on Tuesday, August 22. That's all for now. I need to start working for our assignment. Bye 👋🏻

"Hakuna matata" , a note I tell myself each time I wake up in the morning. Though life has millions of shades, the ones I see are those colorful ones despite the hardships, challenges, and all of those rollercoastering happenings in my life. A short but sweet prayer, a touching smile, good mornings for my loved ones, and an energy to consume for the whole day is my never ending list since the day I started living life greatly. It was in the 8th of August, Tuesday. I woke up, did my list, finished some chores, and full of energy went to school (Cavite State University-Indang), more or less an hour from our house. Scheduled that day for my first class is ECEN70 entitled Digital Signal Processing. And expectingly expecting, Engr. Arboleda is our professor for the laboratory class. Aaaaand obviously, it will be performed in a computer; that's why it should be in a computer laboratory (inside Department of Information Technology). Let me further discuss some of the details mentioned above one by one. ECEN70: Digital Signal Processing. This one's, obviously, is a subject for ECE students like me. From the title itself, it seems to me, in the beginning, that this subject will focus on how signals can be processed through digits using computers. So, generally and basically, what we are about to do in th ECEN70 laboratory is programming and the likes. Next one. Mentioned also is Engr. Edwin R. Arboleda, known to be the adviser of ECE and also for his great achievements as he himself and as a professor and mentor to his students. And more than that, the class itself. Hoping this one would be light and fun. Going back on how August 8, 2017, 7am to 10am went. my mind was filled with lots of learnings. There were quotes from prominent people, sayings, teachings, and life lessons. But above all, there were added knowledges about the subject itself. The journals, publishers, Mendeley (a useful tool in writing journals, even successful ECE graduates, and a lot more. To sum it up, it has been a couple of hours sitting, listening, and feeding our minds with lots and lots of words of everything. I'm gonna make this subject, for myself, full of added learnings nd knowledge and a bit of fun with a lot of smiles.
