Y/N, after getting the first sonogram at Hilltop: Look at our baby!
Daryl, smiling softly: Yeah.
Y/N: I know it’s in black and white now but when it’s born, it’ll be in color.
Daryl, deadpanning: …
Daryl, sighing: What—
Daryl, giving up: Sure will, Sunshine.

"Where's Denise?"
"I sent her home. I told her I could take over," you said, sinking down beside him and picking up the rag and dipping it into the basin of warm water she'd left.
"Mmm," Daryl hummed, ducking his gaze down to his boots. You studied his expression for a moment and then continued cleaning the deep gash in his arm.
"She said I'm partially to blame for this," you said, but your tone had a hint of jest in it.
"Nah," he countered quickly.
"She's right, though. You went after him because of me, didn't you?" you asked, pausing to let your eyes flit over his face. It was still partially veiled behind his dark curtain of wavy hair. "Daryl..."
Your tone now made him look up at you. He couldn't have resisted even if he wanted to. There was a graceful arch in your eyebrow, a question. He gulped nervously. He could no longer feel the heat and sting of the wound in his arm. "I would—would do anythin' for ya, ya know," he somehow managed. Your eyes flitted between his.
You resumed dabbing at the wound on his arm gently. "Anything except actually listening to me, you mean," you countered.
"Huh?"
"I did tell you not to go after him," you clarified. "And I asked you to see if you could go a week without getting hurt."
"Ah... oops," he drawled, reaching up to scratch absently at the side of his head. "Guess I... forgot."
"Mhmm," you hummed, but there was a slight smile on your lips. "But you need to be careful. The only thing I really want you to do for me is to stay safe. Okay?" You replaced the rag on the table and met his blue eyes again. This time they were steadily looking back.
He nodded. "I'll try."
"You better."
Prompt: "I'd do anything for you." / "Anything except listen to me, you mean?"

Love how Daryl "Forest Boy" Dixon can see a footprint, a broken branch and a random leaf on the floor and will tell you there was a fight involving three people, one struggled and two got away, the one who struggled had a green sweater on so that means the other two probably headed north.
