Well, there are some things that react differently in your hands than ours. For example, Mountain Ash is something Stiles can manipulate. I can handle it, but it doesn’t have the same affect. Learning about that would be a start.
And, I know this has nothing really to do with magic, but the way I understand it… you’re kind of like a grounding force for your alpha. Figuring out what she needs is probably a good way to go too.
Talk to Rollin and talk to Stiles. Okay. I can do both of those things. Thank you, Natalie. I really appreciate your help!
How are you doing, though? I mean, I know I can’t be the only one who is pretty freaked out by this whole Peter thing...

Oh, thank you!
Well, I know you’ve been learning more about hunting from your brother, right? Definitely keep up on those skills. And then you should probably ask Stiles to help you with your newfound emissary abilities!
You know, add more skills to your supernatural resume.
You’re welcome!
Yes, I have. And that is a great idea!
What about witchcraft? I know I can’t actually become a witch, but is there anything you can tell me about that I can learn, that might help?

Yes, absolutely!
I know a lot of people that would have just run off in your position. But you stayed and fought with us, even though you just came into this world. That says a lot about you!
Thank you so much, Natalie. That really means a lot, especially since you are so brave and strong and amazing! But I still really want to be able to help, even more. And to do that, I think I need to do...well...something.

You don’t have to be more skilled or more knowledgeable than anyone else to be helpful or be strong. What makes you strong is how you see the world and how you adapt to it. You just learned about being from a hunting family and that you are an emissary. And girl, you jumped right in!
That doesn’t happen with everyone! As I see it, you are as brave as they come!
Do you really think so, Natalie?

Oh, well as far as I know, most of us aren’t terribly prepared to deal with Peter either.
Which, isn’t exactly comforting, I know. But… hmm. What would you say you feel is your biggest strength or something you feel better about than anything else when it comes to these sort of things?
The thing is...I am not sure I have one. At least, not a strength that is greater than anyone else’s. Of all of the hunters, I am the least experienced. And...well, it turns out, I am an emissary. But I don’t have the knowledge or abilities that Stiles has. And I’m not a werewolf, or a witch, or a genius...I am just Sandy.

Yea, sure!
What’s up?
Well, with everything that is going on with Peter, I just feel like I am not as prepared as everyone else. I was wondering if you could help me...well, be more prepared to help.

Well, we can show you the ropes on that!
Thanks, Riley!
And thank you for being so nice and talking to me about...everything we talked about. I really, really appreciate it!

Um, yes! Totally!
And we can work on planning this party while we eat them. Though….we should probably bring Allison in on this. That girl throws a killer party. Not literally, killer. Even though she’s….you know what I mean!
Yay!
I definitely do! And Allison and you are both way better party planners than me! Although I have orchestrated some pretty good surprises for my family for birthdays and stuff...which is so not on the same level as a college party.

Donuts! We should get some!
Oh, don’t worry about that. I hadn’t dated anyone before Katie. We can start small. Like a group thing. Where it’s not really a date, it’s more hanging out. Like a party or something!
We should! Can we?
Really? I just felt like I was so weird for never having been on a date or anything! But a party, I can do a party! I’ve been to a party, now that I met you guys!

I know so.
As far as cake and pie go though, in the literal sense. Clearly they’re equally wonderful in their own ways. Even if I’m more of a cupcake kind of girl.
But I get the analogy. Maybe you could try meeting someone? Go on a couple dates? I’m sure Katie or I know some girls. No pressure though! Entirely up to you!
Who doesn’t love cupcakes? Although donuts are definitely my favorite!
So, um...I’ve never actually been on a date of like...any kind.
With cake or pie or...like a human...person.

It’s okay, Sandy. I won’t say anything to anyone. That’s entirely up to you. But, can I let you in on a secret?
You couldn’t find a better support system than this pack. Everyone will be at your side, and happy to help you and love you and support you. No matter what.
Do you really think so?
It’s just...I don’t even really know how I feel yet, except for confused, I guess. It’s like the whole cake-pie analogy; I feel like when I was growing up, all of my friends always said cake was so good, and I always thought cake was okay, but never as great as everyone thought, but if I said I didn’t feel like cake then people thought I was so weird, so I was always trying to think up a favorite type of cake or something, and I thought maybe I was weird. And then I started thinking, I’ve never tried pie, and maybe I like pie? ...Metaphorical cake and pie, I mean. In reality, I like both cake and pie a lot.

I’m not one to assume, but I’m a little curious as to whether this question was pertaining to a friend……or to you?
You obviously don’t have to answer that. I’m just being nosier than I should be.
Oh, um, no, it’s okay...it was...me.

He’s getting there. He actually started to go to therapy, because he’s had a pretty rough time of it.
Exactly! You can’t know what you don’t know!
Can I ask a question now?
I’m really glad. I hope that it helps him. I don’t know who it is, but I do know that no one deserves to feel like that.
Yeah, sure.

Isn’t she?!
Especially because of those things. I have an example. I won’t name names, because that is SUPER not my place. But I know this guy who is interested in men and women, but it’s really difficult for him to reconcile that with the things he learned growing up about what it means to be a man. Especially because he’s more submissive when he’s with another man than when he’s with a woman. So because of all this toxic masculinity he’s been brought up with, he has a hard time maintaining a relationship with a man outside of sex.
The point I think I’m trying to make is that it’s much more common to be confused than it is to know for sure. Especially if it’s something you never let yourself really dig deep and think about before, you know?
She really is!
Oh, wow. That is really sad. For him, I mean. Because what if he could be really happy in a relationship with a man, but because of everything he grew up believing, he hasn’t been able to? That’s just...really, really unfair. I hope whoever he is, he will be able to find happiness, no matter who it is with.
But...I guess that makes sense. I mean, if you never really thought about it, how would you know? Like, if you grew up and all of your friends loved cake, and you always heard everyone talking about how awesome cake was, how would you know that pie was good if you never had pie before? Right?
