Finding a colorblind friendly redesign of the rainbow flag has me happy to see a pride flag for once

so i wore a pride flag pin to work the other day and the kids were all interested (obviously) (find me a classroom of preschoolers who are not obsessed with rainbows) (i'll wait) so they crowded around to see.
"aww!" they said, "it's a flag!!"
but the thing is: they're little. a lot of them don't really have a handle on all their mouth sounds yet.
such as, notably, that tricky tricky "L" sound.

I'm struggling writing a fanfic, I'm not sure if this has been asked before but, do you think it's better to write in past tense or present tense?
I personally think it comes down to the author's choice. As long as you're consistent with it and not hopping from present to past and back again, you'll be fine ❤️
(if you're worried about doing that, find someone who can beta read for you to check and make sure)

How do you manage to stay half sane with a 4 year old? Mine is really pushing me to the limit (limit cause I'm in it to win it) sorry - I'm losing it lmao.
I have 4 things to say about this actually:
1. GETCHA HEAD IN THE GAME. I'm kidding but also I couldn't help myself.
2. I am also losing it a good percentage of the time. Like I don't yell and scream and throw hands but I am your stereotypical frazzled mom in leggings and unbrushed hair. Please always remember that the internet is always just a SNIPPET of someone's life no matter WHAT they tell you and if someone is marketing to you "this is the the cure all for your child's behavior" they're lying to you point blank, because your child is a human being- not a illness to cure. And anyone who looks perfect online I promise you they're not. I promise you they've flipped out on their child, we all have. I have! I have been overstimulated and sick and had to answer the same question for the 500th time and lost my cool more then once. The important thing at least in my opinion is that I apologize to my child, I state why I'm apologizing, and I then change my behavior.
3. I married a man who wanted to be a husband and father more than anything in the world. Even more than he wanted a wife and child. And I know this is so stupid and sounds insanely cliche but he is actually my best friend. Not in the "I met Jason 2 years ago and he changed my life for the better" speech on your wedding day kinda way. Like "This nerd has been my best friend since 8th grade, we've hid from the cops, pulled pranks on each other, sat by each others hospitals beds our entire lives" kind way. It is very easy to parent with your best friend.
4. I have firm boundaries that I hold with my child and I know that while she may not like it, doesn't make me a bad mom- no matter what people may think. I'm on blood thinners, so Mommy is not for jump kicking off of. Mommy is for snuggles and hugs and walks and playing tag. Just this morning she wanted to play keepy uppy and I said "mommy will finish her coffee and then she will play, deal?" And she accepts this because she knows mama is gonna have her coffee. She's not always thrilled not getting her way immediately but I keep my sanity and I also like to think I'm teaching her that I matter as a human as much as I matter as a mom

I've been doing a lot of thinking about my family and how I was treated as a child, and honestly, my father has never seemed more amazing in my eyes.
I used to love Luigi(Mario's brother) when I was little. Like, he was my favorite character ever, and I had multiple plushies of him. Didn't give a fuck about Mario, vaguely tolerated Peach, but I loved Luigi.
On my first day of kindergarten, my dad gave me the number for his work phone and said it was Luigi's phone number. "If anything happens at school, call Luigi."And not even twenty minutes into my first day, I was having a panic attack. So I went down to the principal's office and called "Luigi."
Now, at the time, my father was in a meeting with his manager and his supervisor, along with most of his coworkers. And when I called, he picked up before he even left the room.
And he put on a very awful Italian accent and said, "Itsa me, Luigi! Whatsa the matter?"In front of his boss and coworkers. Without telling them what was going on. So they were absolutely bewildered, and he carried on like they didn't even exist. He only explained what was happening after I had calmed down and hung up, to which most of them responded with "Aww, cute."
I continued to call him whenever I got upset at school, and eventually his coworkers got in on it. I distinctly remember one of them impersonating Toad. I don't know why I'm telling you this, I just thought it might make you smile :)
this is so delightful I love your Luigi dad

A good rule of thumb for AI is "would you trust a trained pigeon to do this?"
"We trained a pigeon to recognise cancerous cell clusters and somehow they're really good at it" okay great, that's something that could plausibly be a thing.
"We trained a pigeon to recognise good CV:s and left it in charge of sorting through all our job applications" uh perhaps consider not doing that.

I feel like this is an unpopular opinion, but more people should read incomplete/unfinished/in-progress fanfics.
I've noticed this huge trend where creators on tiktok and tumblr who will be explaining how to use Archive Of Our Own to new users and they always say "and make sure to scroll down and click completed only" or how people will go out of their way to mention they only read completed fics 'because they were traumatized when they forgot to check the dates and didn't realize this fic hadn't been updated since 2012'.
The thing is - I think by not engaging with and/or actively avoiding writer's WIPs readers are potentially adding to the aggregate of abandoned works. Now this obviously isn't the case for all abandoned fics, anything from major life events, to loss of interest, to getting busy can be a reason for a fic getting abandoned - but at least on some level I just know that writers are quitting while they're ahead when they aren't garnering any response or feedback because reading WIPs has become unpopular. If you're worried about reading something that hasn't been updated since 2012 then you can use the date updated function to sort out old fics.
Anyways, support your favorite fanfic writers by engaging with their WIPs.

why bother caring about the environment when 1. It’s so obviously a lost cause and 2. There’s definitely going to be a nuclear war?
And what are you doing about it Anon? Learn about ecological restoration or get out of my way.
