Crypt of Iglesia de San Simeon, inspired in part by the underground cemetery of Nagcarlan, Laguna. While old city churches do have crypts, I did not base this crypt on any of them yet. I am still looking for bits of CC that would help in achieving the desired look of the place.
Ideally, this is where the dead of San Simeon proper are buried, though since the lot is not designated as a graveyard, I'm not entirely sure yet if it is possible.

Check out my video overview of San Simeon where I give a tour of the main city. I didn't want it to get too long so i cut it off at the half hour mark; the rest of the province will have to wait until the second video. Comparatively little to no actual game play despite what it says on the tin; I am bad with titles.
Enjoy, like, subscribe, *say aggressive things in the comments, and do whatever it takes for me to get a trickle of coin from this nonsense.
*Please defy the stereotype and don't actually do this.

I'm here with a vote of solidarity in the world of directness=bad tone. I seem to run headfirst into it left and right and am often so confused. I figured I'd let you know how much I love your blog and your tone. So many of your posts have delighted me with reminders that history is written by biased people with a bias and that Ancient Egypt was pretty darn cool all on its own, no need to invent other things. And I love your depth of knowledge!!
Know that there's at least one person who'll thoroughly enjoy reading whatever info you'd like to dump onto this space, no matter how related or not it is to Egypt.
Thank you! I try my best to mitigate it, but y'know sometimes I'm just going to fall into that trap without knowing it and I wish people would be a little more forgiving.
I want people to see Ancient Egypt as it is, a wonderful and complex but deeply flawed civilisation, rather than the sanitised 'they loved everything and worshipped animals and did all these weird things wow so kooky amirite?' version that's so often presented.
My main issue has always been getting past people's instinct to react to new information with curiosity rather than outright rejecting it. I'd really like to cure the kneejerk 'well I read this book' response to an Egyptologist saying 'yeah it doesn't work like that' because 99% of the time they last read that book when they were 7 years old and that book dressed up some weird hearsay as fact. And I get it. Ancient Egypt is the one everyone liked to read about as a kid, so they've got this idea stuck in their heads about it. You don't get that for other areas of history quite so much. But then it becomes a nightmare for Egyptologists to do scicomm because all those people immediately think they know better than you. It's like a weird switch gets thrown and you're contantly battling the urge to say 'no, honey, please. I'm literally very educated in this and I promise you, I know more about this than you do.' but you you don't because that's a dick move. I still think it every time though. I wish it happened less often because it wouldn't be quite so difficult if people could accept that perhaps what they thought they knew was actually wrong. I mean you'll accept it from some guy with a fast moving, wildly racist tiktok presentation, why not me?

Download a Bigger San Simeon (Beta)
Google Drive
It dawned on me that I put the download link far lower than it should be, so here's a reblog with it and the system requirements.
Requires all expansions up until Island Paradise and Patch 1.67
No store or stuff pack content, but a lot of CC (required; see downloads sheet)
I switched out one of the textures so the, erm, issue should not crop up again.
Because it's been released for the Let's Build, the world is still incomplete. Let me know if you want to try your hand at completing or populating the world itself.
Let's Build San Simeon: The Lots
Compiled in this post is a list of lots from the individual neighborhoods I'm making available to edit at this time. The lots are marked as follows:
Lots marked with black are more or less finished.
Lots marked with gray are claimed by myself for various reasons I will explain below.
Lots marked with white are unclaimed and can be edited.
Lots that aren't marked at all should be ignored for now.
The gray lots are reserved for me for the following reasons:
The lots use the decorator's best friend and will be messed up if moved around.
The lots are bahay kubo and are meant to be furnished when the inhabitants move in.
I have a specific aesthetic in mind for that lot or am otherwise already working on it.
Depending on how well things go, I would be opening up more lots for editing in the future.
The lots marked in white are also numbered, which provide a description of what they are. Lots are reserved on a first come, first served basis. You are free to add rabbithole rugs into some of the lots as needed. Also feel free to add a description if you want, though if you don't you can leave it to me.
I divided the this post according to the neighborhoods/towns to edit. Keep reading for more information.
San Simeon Proper and Neri
San Simeon is the capital of the province and Neri is adjacent small town and pilgrimage site.
1.) Casa de Alcaldia: Residential lot. The residence of the island's governor
2.) Beateria de Recollectos: Residential lot. Home of the religious recollect nuns
3.) Hotel McCarric: Resort. A luxurious hotel catering to prosperous transients
4.) A residential lot. I'm thinking someone could try to build a convent here for the friars.
5.) Casa de Cura Parocco: Residential lot. The residence of the head priest.
6.) Casa Azul: Residential lot. Home of the Macaraig family and residence of the McCarrics, who married into their clan.
7.) Casa Crisostomo: Residential lot. A pair of houses, only one of which鈥攔esidence of the Crisostomo family鈥攊s available to edit.
8.) Casa Verde: Residential lot. A large palatial home. You can keep both houses playable or focus on the larger or smaller home if you so choose.
Parian de San Simeon
The Parian or Chinatown of San Simeon is the site of most Chinese Filipino economic activity in the province.
1.) Casa Pe帽a: Plasma lounge or Exclusive lounge. A place where the businessmen gather.
2.) Accesorias de Parian: Residential lot (marked as apartment but can be converted). Ideally best converted into a single house that serves as an apartment.
3.) Parque de Bomberos de Fundador: Fire Station
4.) Casa de Juan Bautista: Residential lot. A large stately home inspired by the Museo de La Salle in the De la Salle University Dasmarinas Campus.
5.) Trade Winds Shipping Company: Community lot. Meant for the business and bistro rabbit hole. The business center goes in the big building and the bistro in the small building. Warehouses are purely decorative.
6.) Casa Caoba: Residential lot. A house that's only playable from the upper floors, but you can change that if you want.
7.) Fuerte de Carlos Rey: Residential lot. The province's main fort. Keep it Spartan.
San Jacinto Cadatuan
San Jacinto Cadatuan is a key port near the site of several plantations. An important shipyard is located here.
1.) An unnamed house: Residential lot. A typical rich residence. Feel free to name it and/or create a family to live in it
2.) Casa Hilaria: Residential lot. A pair of rich houses. It's up to you on whether you want to have one or both houses to be part of the residence.
3.) Plaza y Iglesia de San Jacinto: Community lot. Let me know what you plan to put in it. The church is already furnished and should remain as-is.
4.) Eldridge Shipping Co. Storage: Community lot. Planned this for a supernatural hangout but feel free to choose otherwise. Can also work as an elixir consignment store.
5.) Casa Real: Residential lot. Home of the town's cabeza.
San Andres Town Proper
The main town of the sleepy island of the same name and its outskirts. Mostly a farming community focused on the main hacienda.
1.) Farola de San Andres: Residential lot. The lighthouse of the province.
2.) Hacienda de San Andres: Residential lot. An empty lot (the house shown, originally made by Amichan, was moved elsewhere) meant to be the town's main hacienda
3.) Plaza de San Andres: Community Lot: Still not sure what to do here TBH. The bottom floors of the less fancy house can serve as the site of store registers or rabbit holes. Could also work as a consignment store. I recommend putting up a market in front of it, too.
4.) Iglesia de San Andres: Community Lot. This is the first time I'm leaving a church for others to edit. Don't touch the exteriors anymore without my approval. Can serve as the island's graveyard and may host the school meant for the island.
5.) An unnamed house: Residential lot. A typical rich residence. Feel free to name it and/or create a family to live in it
6.) McCarric Shipping Co.: Community lot: Still not sure what to put here. Can work as a consignment store or supernatural hangout, whichever floats your boat.
If the resolution isn't good enough, check these out through Imgur.
Of course, you wouldn't be able to edit any of the lots if you didn't have the world itself. So here's the link to a beta version of the embiggened San Simeon. Link contains the world, some necessary CC, and a link to an obscenely long list of CC you'll need for the world to look right.
For details, feel free to send me a message. Consider joining my Discord server, too. It'll help keep everything well-managed. Also, tag any of your work under the hashtag #Sims 3 San Simeon.

So anyway, this keeps happening. This is the second iteration of the new San Simeon world (a personal copy for troubleshooting purposes) and it still happens. The copy I released publicly will likely have the same issue, as did the Kedatuan. Notably, this does not happen in CAW's Edit-in-Game, so must happen upon export.
I can only speculate as I do not know enough of the programming part of the Sims 3 to troubleshoot. Methinks it's the pattern itself that's the issue as it's always the same set of patterns that conk out like this.
Does anyone have any idea on what could be causing this issue and how I can fix it? I'd hate to have to go through every thatch house and remove and replace the broken texture just to make the beta of the world *presentable*, but I will if I must.

The San Simeon Let's Build Project
Better now than never, I suppose. Consider this an interest check.
Eight months ago, I started revamping the world that got me briefly Facebook-famous, San Simeon. Using a bigger, edited version of the Isla Paradiso map, I created a world with more space to build, allowing me to create street scenes with greater density and realism. My aesthetic standards had also increased in the interim, which allowed me to improve on the outward appearance of each of the buildings.
My progress was significantly fast in the first few months of the build thanks in no small part to reusing and editing lots from the smaller previous version (which will remain up, for those who prefer it). However, I realize now that this project, which consists of 120 or so lots at present, may be too much for me to handle alone, which is why I sent this open invite to help me finish and polish up the world in one of four ways:
Furnish and decorate selected existing lots
Create historically authentic families to inhabit the constructed houses
Build selected lots
Playtest the world
I had a rather inactive Discord server made for a previous Let's Build that didn't quite get off the ground. I'll be making the necessary updates there and here whenever I have the time.
If you want to join, hop on in!
Stay tuned for further updates (including a downloadable Beta version of the world you can play test).

About San Simeon
San Simeon is a sleepy island town and the administrative center and provincial capital of Nombre de Jesus, part of a colony that has been the bastion of European Civilization in the Orient. The chain lies at a fortuitous crossroads, making it an important node of trade between the great empires of East and West.
Make it big as a trader of foreign goods, rule the island as part of the landowning aristocracy, or fan the flames of revolution as the sun finally sets on the Spanish Empire.
The map represents the entirety of the fictional Philippine province of Nombre de Jesus, whose towns and cities are based loosely on prosperous colonial-era towns and cities like Manila (in particular the districts of Intramuros and Binondo), Iloilo, Taal, Silay, and Vigan. The name itself refers mainly to the capital and largest city. Lore-wise, I intended to make the world's economy geared toward coffee plantations, making it an analogue to Lipa. The time period is in the 19th century, somewhere between 1870 and 1890.
About the Project
This project began as my attempt to create a backdrop for a history-based legacy challenge that, frankly, got out of hand. At first, it was simply a conversion of Isla Paradiso with Philippine-inspired buildings, but thanks to @potato-ballad-sims became a full-on project. Let's just say I learned a lot more about Philippine history over the course of making this world and its counterpart.
One of the big challenges of this project is maintaining historical and cultural authenticity. Keeping it authentic is a big deal for me and I'm trying to keep the world as accurate as possible for one set in the 1870s through early 1900s. I've made many revisions just to keep up. While I will appreciate individual creativity, I will also provide extensive resources to help achieve the appropriate aesthetic.

A few shots of new or previously un-shared buildings. Right now I'm kinda worried that I'm not building enough of the thatch houses (bahay kubo) but when building I tend to follow internal logic to give a sense of verisimilitude to the individual settlements.
I especially love how the settlement in the bottom row, San Jacinto Cadatuan, looks so much like a real village even if it's a fraction of the size of one.

Well, the Sims 3 was a late 2000s game.
I don't care if you build, gameplay, story tell, create custom content -- or all of the above. If you're over the age of 30 -- reblog!

A simple edit. I swapped out the cannons of @potato-ballad-sims' fort with CC ones converted by Votenga. It's actually a surprisingly good place to put a menacing fort in.

A new church in a new island. The design is very derivative of some of my other churches admittedly, mainly because they were influenced by very similar buildings. This church is different from the one I initially built for the island of San Andres, which admittedly was more of an afterthought back in the day. And it even has a cemetery.

I finally got the interiors of Casa Simeon exactly how I want it. The interiors are based on those of the Villavencio Wedding House in Taal and the Casa Manila Museum in, well, Manila.

A new structure rounds out the Parian: A theater inspired by... buildings that are not theaters. I tried building a recreation of the old Binondo Theater of which this is analogous but couldn't, so I decided to base it on a miniaturized version of the Old Governor's Palace and the Ayuntamiento of Manila (by way of the theater building in Tropico 6).

I'm considering opening this project as a collab instead of doing it all myself given that I got overwhelmed by the amount of work I still need to do with this town. Granted, it's gonna be hard because I'm mostly focused on historicity as much as reasonably doable in the Sims and I've a specific aesthetic already set, but I'm also curious as to how many are interested.
