Sans X Reader Drabble - Angst 💔

Did this last minute so I could say I contributed to @sansxyouweek! And also kind of just slapped something together. I think I like this idea though.

It burned.

It burned from the inside out, and like nothing else before. You could only hope that the way your back pounded from your rough landing onto a dried patch of familiar golden flowers, that it wouldn't take long to heal the bruise. You've been here before. Of course you have, but never like this. Was it an AU this time? Was it a dream? Perhaps an ending you hadn't explored?

"was waiting for you."

Ah... well, it had to at least be something more than a normal reset. His voice wouldn't usually show up this early. You sat up. Yup, still in the ruins.

And you turned your head around, ignoring the sharp pain as your spine cried out for you to stay still. He was there, sitting on a rock you didn't recall was there in the screenshots. One leg was propped up on the other, his elbow leaning on his knee, and his head laying in his phalanges as he looked at you with a hollow expression.

"mm... guess i kinda wasn't. looks like you're a new one - or at least this is your first time in... this setting." He glanced back down at the dried flower bed.

He was wearing his usual jacket, shorts, and slippers... but there was something slightly different about him. You just... couldn't put your tongue on it.

"lookin' for what's different?" He really could read your kind like the back of his hand. "lemme give you a hint... it's you." He pointed at you. "a different one shows up for every reset... and then, when they reset, the next person has to deal with those consequences instead..." He breathed out a sigh. "kinda forgot what was different and what was the same..." He muttered.

But then... what were you supposed to do this time?

"but i guess... welcome to the underground." He stood from his spot on the rock. "how was the fall?"

Your eyes widened. You would have laughed if it wasn't for the pain all throughout your body and the tired look in his eye lights. Like he's told that joke before. Like... someone's told him that joke before.

...

Like he's fallen for one of you before.
