Yule Ball Headcanons

For the @@hogwartshousesnet​ December Event: The Yule Ball

Ginny goes with Neville as friends, but they both sneak Luna in even though she wasn’t technically invited

Hermione went with Viktor Krum and spent the entire morning getting ready with Lavender Brown

The two girls didn’t get along very well, but, well, Lavender couldn’t turn her away when she looked so miserable

Hermione spelled their nails to change different colors and Lavender helped Hermione straighten her hair  

If it’s the start of a crush on both parts, well, neither of them say anything 

Ron went as Harry’s date because fuck heteronormativity and fuck this dance and neither of them want to be there but with each other it was bearable

Luna danced with Hagrid for half the night when she wasn’t stepping on Ginny and Nevile’s toes 

At the end of the night, Harry took McGonagal’s hand and they danced together

Harry remembered all the steps just right and McGonagal smiled fondly at this boy who was so good, the best of all his parents 

Ron and Hermione don’t fight so they all spend the night dancing and having fun together

Ron gets Viktor’s autograph and starts to form a crush when he realizes the seeker isn’t just an amazing flier, but he’s a really nice guy

Draco gets juice spilled all down his dress robes by Pansy after he insulted her girlfriend, Daphne  

Even though Cho went to the dance with Cedric, she spent most of the time with the Patil twins

Cedric and Cho were close friends which is why they both knew the other was gay

Cedric didn’t have enough nerve to ask another boy to the dance, not ready to be out

He doesn’t end the dance kissing a boy, but he does have a dance with Harry and it feels like the start of something 

In a perfect world it is, Cedric doesn’t die and Harry lets himself fall in love without regret 

Hermione falls in love with Lavender and even if they fight, they always kiss and makeup because there is more to their relationship than superficial differences 

Ron and Viktor start writing to each other, not quite together until they see each other again at Fleur and Bill’s wedding 

Cho Chang is happily in a polyamorous relationship with the Patil twins and they open a book store together 

In a perfect world, this one night of fun sparked an entire life of love

Fleur was a dash of color in a dismal room. Calming blue rising up against the waves of disaster with a smile. She had hidden teeth, that girl. No one saw her coming and that was her plan.

Tonks was brightness, shining. Shifitng noses and spiked hair, she liked the attention to be on her. On her smile, on her charm, on her kindess. But no one ever really looked.

Fleur looked at the bright girl who was hiding in her own skin and saw a person, whole and beautiful. Tonks saw a girl who was smiling, who was danger wrapped in a bow and said hello.

What are some of your romantic (or nsfw but only if you're okay with this idea of course) headcanons for your fave pairings?What are your best christmas memories? Love you!!!

let me tell you the story of my useless gay ass

It starts, of course, with a girl. We met our first week or so of orientation but didn’t really start talking until theater started up. I was an assistant stage manager (and I love it!!!) and she was playing one of the leads. We’re both freshmen and were the only freshmen fem aligned peeps on the cast so we migrated together when I wasn’t following around our stage manager like a lost puppy.

And she is??? So nice??? Her hair??? Always looks amazing??? Every outfit is iconic??? I’m gay??? And she was always nice about my anxiety and never pushed me too much, but was still friendly. She’s just amazing.

But anyways, I’m taking German for my foreign language and guess who speaks German? The Girl™ does and she offered to tutor me. Every day before rehearsal started she’d say hi to me and ask me some basic questions in German to help me practice and she’s so sweet??? 

Anyways, the play was amazing and not just because of Marion. The whole cast was great and the show was really cool and everyone was really nice. But also she was always so funny and always laughed at my jokes whenever I made them. She also thanked me for working so hard, which was really nice cause a lot of people think asms don’t do anything, but she really appreciated me which was so nice. (I mean, they all did, but I’m not in love with all of them.)

Eventually the play ended though, but on the last show day she hugged me really tight and told me I was the best asm ever. We tried to get together to go see another play or go to the lgtb+ club together, but stuff kept coming up. But!!! Right before we both left for break we studied together and spent like five hours writing and reviewing our essays and talking about our favorite books.

Over break I lent her my favorite book, Little Women, and on of my fav graphic novels, Nimona. She lent me her book, Rotters. We also spent the last day having lunch together at “German table” where all the german students and the professors have lunch on Thursdays. 

She hadn’t gone even though she really wanted to because she was nervous so I dragged her over with me and introduced her to my professor and we talked for at least an hour. And like… my German is terrible. I’ve studied for nine weeks max, my grammar is atrocious, and my vocabulary is limited at best. At one point in time, I referred to a freezer as a “winter fridge,” yet she still wants to be my friend??

After the professors and other students left though we moved to another table where some of her friends were. And like??? Her friends are so cool. They’re the sort of people I’ve wanted to try and talk to but have been too nervous too. But they all just kind of accepting me into their group and it was really nice. 

Her friends are all learning different languages. One is learning French and knows ASL and another speaks Spanish. Marion kept talking in German and it was just this whole multilingual exchange and it was so nice.

Back to me being gay however. She gave me an amazing hug after lunch since she knew we wouldn’t see each other again until January. Her hugs are so nice. I could live in one of those hugs.

I think I’m gonna try and see if she’s interested in being something more than just friends next term, but honestly even if she’s not I just love being her friend.  But also one time she sent me a text and ended it with three kiss mark emojis and I stared at the text for five hours trying to figure out what she meant by it.

I’m gay and useless, this should shock no one. 

I’ll post some headcanons for you later this week but thank you so much for this ask and letting me ramble! Please take care of yourself during exams time and remember to eat and drink lots of water. ❤️

Hi Abigail! Can i ask how you created your palette alice longbottom edit? what software you used and maybe links to the template?

Thanks for the ask! I can certainly try, but I don’t know how successful I’ll be since I work on gimp and I know most editors use photoshop. I ended up creating my own template but I used this one as an example. 

I find most, if not all, of my images on pinterest. For my Alice edit I used search words like “cream aesthetic”, “pale aesthetic”, “book aesthetic”, etc. If I find a picture that I like, I always look at related pins to see if there’s something else I can use. I go through Pinterest and save upwards of 25-50 pictures to use in my edit. 

Then I start inserting them into my base until they look pleasing to me which can take five minutes to five hours. After that, I go in and adjust the brightness and contrast of the images in place of using a PSD. Sometimes I mess around with the hue saturation too, if it works well. 

Now it’s time to put in the adjectives. Thesaurus.com is your friend. I make a list of traits I associate with the character and sometimes I’ll take inspiration from the pictures I chose as well. Once you have your words chosen, you can put in a title. 

I color the title with a color I find in all of the pictures I used, to make it cohesive. To do this, I use the color dropper tool. Put in the color number at the bottom under the year, change the color at the top, and ta da!!
