character development is hard (read: nearly impossible) when you only have 8 episodes to introduce a character, show them space and shit and then say goodbye again

I think the funniest thing about these last two series is that RTD has struggled a lot more than he used to with developing his own characters, but then when 13 comes back for a 5 min cameo he somehow understands her better than chibnall ever did
